I like the turret view, you do that more often when using Bob, it gives us a great view of the action! 👍👍

Looks like a handy tool for you.
Putting sensors on 12' wide doors, I always just hung my phone on the reflector, and with it set to Selfie Camera mode, you could watch the Infra Red Laser come into focus on the screen.
    Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦

one of my problems is the strong sunlight when I'm outside. I can hardly see the screen in my hands sometimes let alone 20 feet away...

Steve, try running your oil through a diesel fuel separator like you would find on a tractor. They allow fuel to go through but not water. Cheaper than replacing your hydraulic oil and you can even put one in line with your filter.

I am going to keep the old oil in a barrel so I can experiment :)

Nice place you have there in Texas, looks like you have plenty of room for an addition to your shop! Lol

Yes I do! BUT the Wife who must be obeyed says no.... Even Don can't talked her into it :(

Most cell phones and video cameras can see infra-red directly. Point one of your available cameras at an active sensor, or TV Remote control and see if you can see the emitter emitting. You could possibly see it directly from across the driveway just where your beam is aiming and then make the appropriate adjustments.

Guys this is good to know but the thing I made is a simple one handed device that works just by pressing a button and holding it up to the sensor while I tighten the screws with the other hand... In this case simple is much better :)

There are a litany of companies, such as Thor Labs, who sell liquid crystal cards that will enable you to directly see the IR laser beam being emitted by photodetectors. You can also use the camera on most phones to "see" the laser source. Either is way is both simpler and more accurate than relying on a secondary visible laser for alignment.

Sorry to have duplicated your suggestion 38 minutes after you posted yours. It did not appear until after I hit the send button.

I areas where it snows, photo eyes are a pain in the ass. Wind blows snow past the sensor so gates and doors won't close. Outside sensors can get coated with frost or ice. Even in a heated garage, they can fog up when the door is opened. People drive out and hit the remote to close the door only to come back hours later to find the door open and trying to heat the outside.

If you had a barrel with a spout on the bottom and you put the contaminated oil in the drum the water should settle to the bottom over a little time and you can open the spout until all the water is gone and oil starts to come out?

    • @10swatkins
      @10swatkins  ปีที่แล้ว

That would help.. i bought 2 empty 55 gallon drums so I could experiment. we will see..

You can attach the tool to the box with a tiny "shock cord," I have one a foot long with a 1/8" rubber band. (it came in an assortment) Ron W4BIN

Not any reason to attach it to the head Ron.. Two fingers "clamp" it to the head while I align it.. Fast and simple :)

Steve you need to be more careful with the red and green lights when you're crossing the beam. Ask Arnie in 'the running man '

I could expound on now much I hate beams especially retroreflective beams. Banner Engineering makes a beam alignment tool that detects where the beam is aimed. Optex makes a interesting vehicle detector I'd love to try ( th-cam.com/video/dmWaVSr9Ozw/w-d-xo.html ) . best thing to use if you must use a beam is a through beam such as an Optex AX-100TF. you will never have alignment issues with those. and they can be set up to use monitored inputs.
I did lasers years ago. you'd be better using a green laser crosshair module. you can see the green laser better in bright sunlight.

I have about 10 of the ones you linked to in operation around Houston for about 3 years now... No problems except setting them up :(

@@10swatkins I sold my business 10 years ago and only do special customers in north florida.(plantation$) Much has changed in that interval. When UL325 came into being I could hardly sell a job if I implemented it. Most customers didn’t get it. Cellgate is a Texas product as I recall. I remember talking to them back in the late 2000s. Cellular data has gotten so cheap. Need any help in north Florida?

Might want to check the country of origin for that hydraulic oil before you put it in your planer 😉

This is what I found before I bought it..... "
"In May 2013, Sinopec with Shell and Total invested to form a joint venture to build a terminal with an annual handling capacity of approximately 1.8 million tons and a base oil and lubricant tank area with a total tank capacity of approximately 44 million gallons. Specialized in production, sales and technical services. BuySinopec products are made in Singapore, Canada and the United States."

    Morning Steve,
'sino' always implies Chinese to me - beware of quality issues! They do do good stuff but that tends to stay in China.........
