The wings are folded to increase storage capacity, and when the wings fold out, the jets have so much lift compared to regular jets that they can basically float behind the enemy and out rate some enemies you couldn’t with wings folded back, and the wings folding can help with speed
@@yuanxinwang8219 the main reason the wings fold is to avoid the shockwave forming at supersonic speeds, and to reduce air drag at high speeds. All while still allowing for low takeoff and landing speeds with the wings folded out. Storage space is a nice benefit, but still a lot worse than fixed wings that are specifically designed to fold for storage
13:35. Have you ever heard of the tomcat? It has variable sweep wings that allow it to accomplish different tasks. It can open the wings to increase low speed stability. Closing the wings allows it to fly at a much faster speed because it becomes far more aerodynamic.
Wow! I was surprised to see my old "Aerocycle mono" made this video. It was never intended as a ground vehicle, but it was super fun to watch it used that way! If you're interested, I have a "weight shifting sky cycle" on my workshop, along with "Stumble Bot 5000" both use weight balancing. (don't try to control stumble bot, he has enough trouble trying to keep himself upright as it is.)
7:25 Well, thats true only for angle sensor self balancing. I think this thing is balanced via distance sensors only, so it would stay horizontal to the surface, not the hroizon line.
13:40 it's like the whole swing wing concept, less drag at high speeds but also its not as manoeuvrable so when they come out they have more lift and drag.
19:28 skyscrapers use this exact concept to stay upright during strong winds. There's a giant, several ton slab of concrete that shifts its weight via pistons to keep the building from toppling.
Hi, I'm the author of the Moto Blueprint in the first video, I'm glad to see you try my work, sorry for the bad steering experience, welcome to try the updated version, you can search for "独轮战车1.1 why call MONO?" in the steam workshop.
I think the idea of the final monowheel was that the outer wheels have a smaller diameter, so that driving on the edge of the bigger and a smaller wheel causes turning
Trailmakers challenge idea: you build forklifts that can move pallets that are lined with dynamite and are 8 blocks wide with a 6 block gap. Then you have to move them in front of a distance sensor and whoever gets all three(or how every many pallets you want) wins. Also if you exceed 30 kph you hook up a AND logic gate to explode the dynamite.
There are two types of "mono wing planes" Flying Wings, and Lifting Body planes, and id love to see you make a Lifting Body plane, because it uses the fuselage as the only source of lift, no wings other than Vertical stabilizers sometimes, were real prototypes made by Nasa
I think the "mono wing" was an attempt at a variable sweep wing. The idea is that it can achieve better top speed and acceleration at the expense of lift, but that is compensated for by the increase in speed. The creation didn't work in the "swept" formation because the wings are generating no lift at all at that angle. It makes me doubt they were going for a vsw, but fixing it just requires angling the wings into the the direction of travel until the generate lift, and maybe adding more thrust
Googled “monocopter” and it’s kinda like a mono wing and a helicopter had a kid and crossed it with a maple seed. Well, tbh, it’s just a giant, artificial maple seed you can sit in
yes, actually i like the gyrobikes that where similar to each other. now you gotta do this with scrap mechanic! and yes i'm only saying this because i have several unicycles and monowheels in the workshop xD
The monocopter was my build lol edit:I called it the monocopter because it doesnt have the tail rotor and everything is built in a circle around the monocopter (it doesnt have an off switch)
19:36 a crane that lifts or lowers objects based on the position of the counterweight on the opposite end manipulated by pistons to move it further or closer to the pivot point
The "monocopter" here looks like it's designed off a quadcopter drone. So I'm guessing that they worked the name backwards without thinking about how quadcopters got their name in the first place XD
14:23 I guess they made a single rotor version of a quadcopter drone, and they probably didn't realise that "copter" is short for "helicopter". It looks a lot more like a drone than a conventional helicopter, though
12:55 The plane is actually a mono wing; mono wing aircraft are a type of aircraft that only have two wings, no back tailfins to be found, I'm pretty sure the f117 Nighthawk is a type of military mono wing aircraft.
so about the monocopter... helicopters all have 2 blade orientations, either side-by-side(the pivot point in this case would be a part of what holds the blades in place) or one vertical and one sideways at a 90 degree offset for the tail... this ones a single stack and thats it... edit: also, multiplayer monday race but your only turning method has to be weight shifting?
Maybe a "mono" wing plane that folds out and relies on strategic placement of weights for the planes roll. You could also hide weaponry under the wing that is only functional in the folded out position of the wing(s).
12:37 Mono wings are actually planes with just a single pair of wings, this includes a lot of todays modern airliners. Flying wings or "Lifting bodies" are planes where the whole body of the aircraft serves as a lifting surface.
I made a plane where moving the wings have a purpose: Close wings to reach supersonic speed Open wings to increase lift and land at low speed I don't know if it still works but yeah it was my first "realistic" supersonic plane
10:20 put the monocycles together This will entirely defeat the purpose of a monocycle and instead create an over engineered bicycle But it will be humorous
I didnt hear the entire intro and i alredy know this is a very very good video (also i really like this channel as well as correcting people so its not the english alphabet, its the latin alphabet)
Closed wings is more stable as being stable in plane terminology means to be nose heavy or center of weight is long ways in front of center of lify while unbalanced means that the center of lift is close to the center of weight
Have you done a workshop hunter series on trail makers where you just search "mono, dual, tri/triple, quad, hex, oct..etc"? Easy 6-10 videos in a small series.. also, whens the last workshop display from Main Assembly?
15:59 Can you do something work like this in Scrap Mechanic? If that works, the next Scrap Mechanic MM could be shooting bombs in the air at each other?
It all depends on how force is being applied with offset monowheels. If the wheel is not the thing that is driving the vehicle forward then it is a point of drag and drag.....well it's called drag for a reason instead of shove. When you have a force trying to shove a point of drag, that drag point will want to be behind the driving force, which is why caster wheels work. The wheels themselves are not powered so they will drag behind the pivoting point. Because the ones you've looked at are all thruster propelled, they are acting like caster wheels and therefore the wheel will always want to trail behind the thruster and it hates being pushed by it every time.
I don't play the game so i know nothing about it. But with the weight distribution turning thing, if you could program it so that a set of thrusters activate only when turning, would that work?
What about a monowing that moves tge entire wing left and right to bank and maybe forward and back for pitch? No ailerons. No flaps. Just a solid wing that can move.
Make a boat that turns based on weight shifting from side to side as a nechanisam inside the boat. This way if the boat turns you know it is onley a product of weight distribution and not a reaction with the water.
I've been wondering, are you still able to do all of the gymnastics from your circus career or have they atrophied over time due to you being busy doing other things?
The first monowheel actually reminds me of something from a movie, but I can't remember which... I think it was about some futuristic racing, if anyone here knows what I'm talking about, please help me out!
13:42 There is already an aircraft that has a utility for angling its wings backwards or outwards. Check out the F-14 Tomcat
F111 advarck, MiG 23/27, tornado
@@yuanxinwang8219 I only knew the Tomcat off the top of my head (blame Top Gun 😛). But yes, there are quite a few

Is this the precursor to a mono-wheel evolution? I think with scrap mechanic's lag it'd have to be done in trailmakers, but it'd be cool and funny.

Weight shifting airplane? The only controls could be weight shifting

the one blade, stacked makes it a monocopter, it doesn't have a tail rotor or rear counter rotor

yes but that would defeat the whole purpose of turning with weight
make an antenna, with a big weight at the top, then lean the aerial left or right to turn left or right
Connect the two mono wheels at the middle to make a cool motorbike. ( please )
