    Some other quick tips around not losing the Avata:
    (1) Buy a 400mm battery strap, from any FPV drone vendor and wrap it around the battery. Stops it from throwing the battery and is non intrusive. Wraps around the battery horizontally. Kevlar straps are the best if you can get one, they are almost impossible to snap and break!
    (2) Depending on your climate, you have a limited time once the avata goes down somewhere before it self-powers off from overheating. Move QUICKLY, or you will lose your beeping ESC.
    (3) Having the ipad connected for the flight lets you get to it quicker, since it records data there.
    (4) Invest in something like an Apple AirTag or Tile, get a silicone case and use the strap you bought for the avata to slip it through, to secure it to the avata. These won't work well unless you're in close proximity but they can make or break finding it in the last 30ft-10ft radius wherever it is.
    (5) ALWAYS record everything. Check your DVR and SD cards. Check twice. It sounds obvious but you'd be surprised how many take off and then realize their card was full or they forgot to put one. 10x harder to find where you went down if you don't have the footage.

    Thank you for your comment at 0:50. A big complaint I hear from people who buy the Avata is that it doesn't handle like the FPV and my consistent answer to that is -- "It's not supposed to!" While both drones are able to be flown manually and flying manually is largely the same for each in terms of inputs, the purpose of each drone is vastly different. Freeestyle (FPV) drones are meant to fly faster and with a quicker agility response. Cinewhoop (Avata) drones are meant to fly smoother and in a bit more controlled manner for hitting tighter gaps and flying in confined spaces if necessary -- i.e. a more cinematically purposed drone.
    Are they capable of some crossover? Sure! DJI builds really great machines and as such the DJI FPV is more than capable of smooth and steady flight (if the pilot is knowledgeable and practiced enough) and the DJI Avata is capable of acrobatics and faster flight speeds (same principle as before, knowledge + practice = power). But if you're using the Avata to achieve freestyle clips and acrobatics, your ceiling is going to be lower than with a real freestyle drone.
    Great video. Really informative, as always. Thanks for posting!

    Billy , great video. I wear reading glasses. I have only used analog goggles with some crazy lens adapter that helps enough to let see see most of the screen. Will the new HD DJI Goggles work for a guy like me that needs +3 power reading glasses and around 1.5 power for distance? Being 63 has its disadvantages when it come to clear vision. What do you think?

    For some reason I prefer the design vs the new Avata 2. Looks more durable and more serviceable to me. As a matter of fact I ran across a good deal on a used one and it should ship to me tomorrow.

    Will stop button work on manual mode? If we loose video or RC signal in manual mode will it automatically change to normal mode and RTH?

  • @MrPlaneTalk
    @MrPlaneTalk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Assuming I will never use manual mode, can’t we get the same shots with Mini 3 Pro in FPV mode? I realize I won’t have the goggles to experience it (unless using Litchi and cardboard) but as far as final footage, it seems the same as FPV mode on other drones, no?
    Please do a comparison of Mini 3 Pro “FPV” footage and the Avata in Normal and Sport mode. Many like me are debating right now, “which drone to get.” Thanks.

    Hey Billy thanks for all the info. But. I don’t know if I am an idiot or just missing something, this is my second DJI drone my first is the Air 2s and it downloaded the video to my fly app automatically. This is my question “how the hell can I get the video off the drone to my iPhone????” I must be missing something. I tried plugging it in to the USB into my charging port in the phone. Nothing. Help a brother out.

      @@londenard Rock Steady doesn't hold horizon line. Mini3Pid only horizon steady.

    • @londenard
      @londenard ปีที่แล้ว

      @BUXBE So fly in FPV Mode... Do you even have a Mini 3 Pro? The M3P (or any 3 axis gimbal drone) has zero use for Rock Steady. Problem Miner Syndrome, PMS, you're digging for issues where there aren't any. Give it up.

    HUGE problem with the U.S. version of the AVATA…
    1) You cannot turn off Remote ID (with latest firmware)
    2) You must ALWAYS have your phone CONNECTED to the goggles and DJI Fly app OPEN to keep Remote ID functioning. (Another dangling cable!)
    3) If you do NOT connect your phone, and keep it connected with app open, you will immediately get a red warning, “Remote ID error” in the goggles and the drone will NOT even start the motors.
    4) If you takeoff with phone connected to goggles, etc. and you disconnect the cable, turn off the app or close phone, you will get an amber caution warning, “Remote ID error” (that will not go away) but the drone will continue to fly. Once you land, the warning will turn red, and you will not be able to even start the motors until you reconnect the phone, open the Fly app, and link to aircraft.
    This is RIDICULOUS and I have not heard of ONE TH-camr that has pointed this out.
    I spent hours, back and forth with DJI and FINALLY one tech admitted that “Yes, you must have your phone connected at all times to keep Remote ID enabled, and operate the drone.” (He said he will escalate it and get back to me in a couple days. We will see.)
    So, now I am wondering, what if I am in a remote location, where I cannot get cell service or wifi, or even GPS on my phone? Will I be grounded with the AVATA? Who knows. This is another pain, as now I have yet ANOTHER dangling cord hanging from my goggles, my phone using battery or overheating in my pocket, and potentially getting cords caught somewhere and there goes the goggles or the phone on the ground. UGH!!!!
    Come on DJI…Do you have to make it this hard?!

    DONT BUY DJI AVATA. i have one. The range is not what they advertised. There is a huge problem with the software. when returning home, the drone does not land close to where it was launched from.
    Also, the range is about 500m, and not 10km as advertised. when the drone loses signal, it does not return to home. it hovers on the same place until the battery runs out. My DJI Phantom 3 has better range that the AVATA.

    Just received my DJI drone. It was set up in Ukrainian, so it took me a little while to figure out the language settings. And it came without a charging plug for the battery for the drone so I had to order a fly more kit. I’m still waiting for that.
