Imagine getting up at 2:00 AM to get some raisins and all of a sudden your raisins jump out of their box and start dancing while singing “I Heard It Through the Grape Vine”
@@masterfarr8265 I've got nothing but enormous amounts of respect for Vinton and all he did for the medium/art form, but why do people say he invented claymation? Unless you just meant "coined." I mean Gumby is basically the epitome of claymation regardless of what terminology was in use in the 1950s. You can go back further in time, but I'd pick Clokey as the one that really popularized clay animation.
Imagine being so talented that Ray Charles wants to be in your art, and Michael Jackson lets you use his voice/likeness FREE OF CHARGE. That's how monumental these characters were.
I was a huge California Raisins fan as a kid (still a huge fan). I had a couple of the t-shirts, a few of the figures, the coloring books, I even had "The California Raisins Sing The Hits" on cassette tape. Seeing these old commercials brings back a lot of great memories.
I mean, I'd take their classic stuff, but would be great to get one with Gorillaz covering "Heard it through the Grapevine." (Like Michael Jackson did.) Oh man, I really want that now and I'll never get it, thanks A LOT! lol
haha I actually saw the California Raisins at Ice Capades live :). The only thing I remember was the singer talking about how "We were once ordinary grapes", but the sun turned them into raisins, lol.
🤠 Yesssss The California raisins, these commercials were so good at its time and I know we all loved and enjoyed watching them. I am surprised that they never came up with the album, like seriously they had some good stuff back then. I miss watching these commercials on television, most definitely they need to put them back on and come up with some new California raisin commercials too. Can't help what we like and we can't help what we enjoy too
Ahoyhoy There, Fellow TH-camrino! I just got a 1987 California Raisins Fingertronic foam puppet my aunt rescued and salvaged from an abandoned house and they were about to throw away some great vintage toys and collectibles. We salvaged some great , and surprisingly valuable; though, toy-wise I don't care about monetary gain, but just that these pieces of historical value get a chance , that's what matters to me.
In an African household raisins are golden 😭 and snacks! 🤷🏽♀️ I couldn’t eat raisins for a long time after I liked the California raisins commercials, and so I put the raisins in water and plumped it up and ate it or Kellogg’s corn flakes with extra milk and add the raisins and wait until the raisins plump up .
Whoever made these animations and came up with this concept was an absolute genius and I salute you. I hate raisins, and this makes me want to try them again. And they made kids like healthy snacks with music. 😍 my heart just melts.
Saw most of the the commercials and remember some of the other things... but I will never forget taking a picture of a old friend at the California State fair , standing next to California raisin . An my best friend would not get in the picture when I was talking it😏
Love claymation , still love it it takes a true artist to go there 🌞😎 It's like good puppies and good cartoonist ❣ Other technology is here now an it has its own unique way, but it's still not the same as doing what all these people did.
There's only actually been 13 California raisins commercials in 8 years they showed the commercials.... that's because it took 5 months to make a 30 second ad of them.....
I caught myself laughing at myself 😂🤣 I love watching the figurines dance and sing and they make me smile, but I can’t stand raisins in my food, so whenever they dance and there’s an image of raisins getting sprinkled on food, my face makes one of those weird baby expressions of:” brain.exe stopped working” 🤣😂
This was before I was born (1989) but I think I saw the Michael Jackson one. Looks very familiar. My great grandma LOVED those raisins. She got a birthday cake with the raisin figurines on it. I use to play with those things growing up. If she were still alive, I wonder if she would remember these if I showed her this video
There was also the Christmas Claymations that came out during 1987. Also Tales From The Darkside was popular in the 80's decade also and made a movie of it in the early 90's.
Holy crap dude! I am such a big California Raisins fan and yet I couldn't find these before! Nice job. And could you do a video on the California Raisins again like or Will VInton related? Maybe show your puppet you have and do you have a California Raisins collection?
Imagine getting up at 2:00 AM to get some raisins and all of a sudden your raisins jump out of their box and start dancing while singing “I Heard It Through the Grape Vine”
i would be creeped out but if there singing i heard it throught the grapevine then i would stick around
Lmao
It’s the only reason to like raisins.
I'd say time to quit drinking. Lol.
it depends if michael jackson is there
R.I.P. Will Vinton--one of the unsung heroes of animation.
he invented claymation, how people are that oblivious is beyond us.
May he Rest In Peace.

@kurbsyde Nice. I'm happy you purchased ALL.
One of my favorite animators of all time. Poor guy deserved better in his final years.
Will Vinton was a genius in the world of claymation. We need someone like this to revive this lost art form.
Don't worry his son took over the company and Laika still carries on claymation
MY BOI MICHEAL FREAKING JACKSON
The best California raisins commercial of all time is the Michael Jackson one
Imagine being so talented that Ray Charles wants to be in your art, and Michael Jackson lets you use his voice/likeness FREE OF CHARGE.
That's how monumental these characters were.
Not to mention that will vinton's animation was involved in moonwalker
When I was 12 my uncle jonsey died I'm a semi truck accident. The last thing he gave me was a California raisin statue he will be missed:)
Touching story. Great memories.
I was a huge California Raisins fan as a kid (still a huge fan). I had a couple of the t-shirts, a few of the figures, the coloring books, I even had "The California Raisins Sing The Hits" on cassette tape. Seeing these old commercials brings back a lot of great memories.
Did you even had their Nintendo NES game??
The California Raisins: The Grape Escape.
@@g-nuts1219Unfortunately, no.
That cassette was the first one I ever bought with own money.
How many remember watching these wonderful commercials?
The California raisins should to make a comeback
Honestly
I mean, I'd take their classic stuff, but would be great to get one with Gorillaz covering "Heard it through the Grapevine." (Like Michael Jackson did.) Oh man, I really want that now and I'll never get it, thanks A LOT! lol
I suddenly feel inspired to set up an animation studio and make one... maybe co-starring The Noid. Heh
We need them.
Mom: “Quit complaining. The food isn’t that hot.”
The food: 2:08
haha I actually saw the California Raisins at Ice Capades live :). The only thing I remember was the singer talking about how "We were once ordinary grapes", but the sun turned them into raisins, lol.
The best part of 2020 besides new years eve was discovering these guys

I hate raisins, and this makes me want to try them again.
And they made kids like healthy snacks with music. 😍 my heart just melts.
How do you not see Will Vinton’s Christmas special in every commercial?
Saw most of the the commercials and remember some of the other things... but I will never forget taking a picture of a old friend at the California State fair , standing next to California raisin . An my best friend would not get in the picture when I was talking it😏

Me too. I was born in 1985. I remember being mesmerized and terrified all at the same time. But I loved the CCR song from this point on.
Garfield will totally hate this
LOL!!! As a huge time Garfield fan I find that hilarious, good one!
The Raisins even had their own show on CBS’s Saturday Morning, alongside other greats as The Muppet Babies, Pee-Wee and guess who else…
I still have my Dad's California rasin sandwich stage set that plays music with the rains on top!
Aww I love that set!!

Love claymation , still love it it takes a true artist to go there 🌞😎 It's like good puppies and good cartoonist ❣ Other technology is here now an it has its own unique way, but it's still not the same as doing what all these people did.
This is my GD childhood right here! I'm a native Californian. This was a BFD back in the day!
I remember I had the rain coat and umbrella with these raisins on them. I loved them!! When I was 5 years old!! 😂😂
There's only actually been 13 California raisins commercials in 8 years they showed the commercials.... that's because it took 5 months to make a 30 second ad of them.....
2:02-2:32 This was also on the VHS copy of Meet the Raisins. Nice job on the commercial collection over the years
I don’t know what your selling but ILL TAKE YOUR INTIRE STOCK!
I caught myself laughing at myself 😂🤣
I love watching the figurines dance and sing and they make me smile, but I can’t stand raisins in my food, so whenever they dance and there’s an image of raisins getting sprinkled on food, my face makes one of those weird baby expressions of:” brain.exe stopped working” 🤣😂

Wait til you see screen gems
The same animator did both.
Memories.
I actually had a bunch these lol
Funny now how they turned these into a toy line. Or collectables. Not to mention a Saturday morning cartoon.
I liked the California Raisins figurines that were inside of cereal boxes.
They should reboot the California Raisins… well not a reboot. They need to be exactly the same.
This is magical baked out of your mind
Hoppy Is Happy I have a compilation of these commercials on dvd and i love smoking out to it.
4:55-5:25 Is that Jackie Vernon? I was expecting him to say “Happy Birthday!” at any moment.
Back when commercials could hold your attention heh.
I love the California Raisins are my favourite band ever the California Raisins are the best
This is the type of stuff you watch when you're high as effffff
Lol yes
And it is awesome
Drinking a really nice cold glass of high antioxidants and you feel extremely refreshed afterwards
Heard It Through The Grapevine is lowkey SUCH a bop
3:02 good beat
2:02 that was their debut
They should make The Golden California Raisins and have them be country stars 😂
That is so amazing!
I claim that stop-motion animators must be on some hard drugs… I mean, how else do you have the patience for this???
Ray Charles commercial is fire 🔥
Raisins were my favorite snack as a n 80s kid
I forgot about the Ray Charles one. Classic.
I just saw the Claydream documentary and I kind of want to find more videos of the Raisins, The Noid and more
THIS was the first virtual artist
I love the California raisins
Farewell, Will Vinton.
1:32 Definitely loved this one with Ray Charles
Wow my little brother sent to me...hmmm a blast from the past. The Claymation was a big deal, they sold errithang🤗
You really should do a Domino's Pizza Noid commercial compilation!
I'm working on one! ;)
Were you born in the 80's decade?
Nope, I just grew up with 80's stuff thanks to my parents! I was born in 1991.
Sure! I have quite a bit of California Raisins memorabilia. I'd love to do a video of my puppet too!
Aw Sweet! Thanks!
The California Raisins were originally created to "Make Raisins Cool Again".
Will Vinton was a genius
the hardest working raisins on the planet!
"Books! Check em out!"
1:19 Pause on this timestamp and you’ll see the screaming raisin image
The California Raisins on ice looks kind of creepy😳
I heard it through the gas line ohhhh the explosion blew my mind.
Love this!
RIP Will Vinton
5:55 shows that they were used to promote their biscuits still, and not a kids meal promotion.
