  • This job was simple, come cut the trees down and leave. With the size of these trees on the bank of his hill and as with most pine trees they were leaning in all the wrong directions and so the call was made to me to take them down. This job was in Danbury, NC and everything went well and also it took 3 1/2 to 4 hours to complete. I hope you enjoy this and feel free to comment or like and share. Tree work like this is very entertaining if you have some time to watch. Thx-4-Watching!

First I enjoy your videos, second I loved to have you work with me a few days we could both learn a lot. I'm not a tree services guy and only climbed as a hooker in the early 80s ( climb top and tie tail hold tree back in order to gain height on main line for the skyline ) however I'm climbing a little on side work. I'm a faller in Pacific Northwest and have been one since 82, which means Ive work on some scary steep tough ground with some very tall big timber. I do enjoy learning knew things and major bonus to that it keeps things fresh and me save. Thank you again for sharing your work and be smart and save.

There is a book called "The fundamentals of general tree work" by Gerald Bernick, and it is pack with all kinds of info, i am not a tree guy, but i learned tons from that book, anyone interested in being a timber cutter to a climber could benefit from his book. Thank you for posting and sharing! Have a good one!

Great video as always, loved that double-cut you did around 1:30 in (the branch you were cutting forked and one of the forks was leaning-onto another branch) where you notched the limb's base enough that, when you clipped where it was hung-up, the weight of that release was enough to bring it down smooth - flawless!!
Thanks for all the vids, am going to be reviewing your splicing ones again before I take the plunge trying to splice some blue moon!! (I've got all types of rope except kernmantle and, while it was tempting to use hollow-braid or 3-strands "as practice", I suspect there's little carry-over knowledge to double-braids which are all I'll be splicing at the moment so diving-in on the blue moon right off the bat, nervous!!)

Something over cut you high side wood all the way up then work around me to the low that way you can set wedge up easier bucking billy ray has a few great vidils about wedgemenship that explain the topic in great detail check those out they helped me out alot but great job stay safe

I would like to preface this comment with I really don't want to hate. I don't think your followers know that you hurt yourself several times in tree work including falling out of a tree. They're obviously uneducated about tree climbing and cutting techniques. So in order to better yourself and preserve your life so that your family can continue to appreciate you, you should analyze your videos and see all the mistakes you make while climbing and cutting. I can't get into all the number of cutting techniques and climbing techniques that you failed at. You should also analyzed your felling technique along with your hand signals. I don't want you to run out of luck and leave your family in a way that could have been prevented. Like I said I don't want to hate, but I do want you to analyze what you do to make you a better climber.

    • @TreeBoi4Life
      @TreeBoi4Life  5 ปีที่แล้ว

I wouldn't use hate as much as I feel you have drawn the wrong conclusion as you are misinformed. Let me fill you in though Vince and with all due respect. I understand every man is entitled to his own opinion but when you don't have all the facts it can obscure certain things. I must admit I do have a lot to learn and understandably we all do. However folks who watch my channel know of my accidents which where primarily do to rushing or simply not paying attention something I made very apparent. I have done nearly a thousand trees at this point in my career if not way more and there is no perfect cut for every situation since you referenced my cutting abilities. I know you mean well but I hope you took the time to comment on the other 99% of tree guys on here about what to do and not to do or is it really a just matter of preference what a person chooses to do. For the people who watch my videos I've always try to point them in the right direction, to the right sources, since truly no video is a substitute for hands on instruction and actual on the job experience esp with tree work. True I offer suggestions in some of my videos as well as explaining certain things and how this or that can be done but I am not the authority on tree work nor do I claim to be, and in fact no one person or entity is and I make this known. The way I choose to climb or cut is all a result of my experience and I don't force it on anyone on my channel is simply here for entertainment. Some may or may not agree with how I run my show but after you've cut and cut some more and even more after that, you realize cutting can be done in a variety of ways and its relative to the situation and please believe accidents happen and not just to me. I went back and watched the video and I can't understand what about the cutting was so outside of the ordinary to where it was hazardous to my health or others. (cutting over my head perhaps or one handing the saw?) With respects to the hand signals if you watch closely my guy seemed to have selective amnesia this day and we have done this a million times and he's over there like...LALALALALA...so then I'm like what?...throwing my hands up because we have went over this so many times before, so a miss communication, yes or maybe, I dunno. Now the felling techniques: cut a notch no more then 1/3 diameter if the trunk (conventional) +back cut straight through more more than a 1-2" above where the v is (in short) not too complicated but implementing this when you are on a small sloped bank and the trees are somewhat back leaned and your saw is cutting at a slight angle. Everyone gets off from time to time and I don't hide my blunders there. I did rush the wedges but id rather keep that weight in my favor in case a rope snapped or the guys pulling make a blunder but what other techniques did you find would have been applicable to this situation since all went well and no one was hurt and no property was damaged. Really what more could I have done or not done here? Please can you explain them in more detail with a reply below. Lastly, my ultimate goal at the end of the day is to make sure everyone returns home both myself and crew and to do great work to provide for my family which I have been doing the whole while and I will continue to do simply because I choose to, not because of any luck on my part, but because God has got my back as long as I try to live my life in a way that's acceptable to him. With tree work I'm fairly calculated and I try not to take chances with my life.

      @@TreeBoi4Life dude
You were not getting whst the guy is trying to tell you, he is telling you you suck!
Your bottom cut on your box or wedge was not close to parallel or flat to the ground. And then it took you twice to fix the top cut .
2 problems your wedge or box was more than half of the trunk.
And you didnt even walk in front of the tree to see what it looked like.
Snap a rope with what, 2 fat guys?
Come on tree climber, get with the program.
That stick wasnt shit, and if you are not good at felling trunks, then chunk it down. If you cut 1000 trees and still cant cut a box level, and then dont care enough to fix it, then you got away with one.
Use a big saw to cut all the sticks, that way its not a surprise to you when you handle a man sized saw.
      If the rope snapped?
Ive had ropes so tight you could walk up to the top of the tree using 2 connected pole saw sticks for balance.
I got ropes ten years old that were left in a green barrell all winter full of snow and ice and leaves, and then pulled oak sticks over with a madsman rope puller. You didnt even rope anything at all, tjatd how you snap a rope not a couple guys or a quad on the rope. A quad on the rope is stupid anyway.
You had 2 wedges in it.
You could have walked down thete yourself and pulled that toothpick over. White pine snap a rope.
Then you cutting bottom wedges out of stuff you are dropping flat.
What you should have been doing is trying to make the branches move left or right and hit a target on the ground, because you need alot of practice Jr. 1000 trees my ass , probably not even 1000 branches. Hire a climber kid, and make money, you sound like s good bullshitter though, so you probably sell a ton of work, but dont kid yourself,

      I /3 pie
2/3bsck cut snd leave some hinge wood bud, what do you need 2 pull lines for. You are scared.
Then you say nice job, on yhe last tree, it didnt even fall to the opening you cut because you pounded the wedge on the right so fucking deep and tapped the left one in.
The guys have to walk backwards no pull with arms only.
One wedge in the back center thats all you need. If you got punks on the rope.
And they csnt be pulling all day
Cut the fucking thing chicken shit.

I'm not hating one bit. I rather enjoy your videos. But I was curious was their enough room to notch and drop without cutting it and climbing. It looked like a big field. I'm just curious. I'm new to climbing but I've been in tree work many yrs and felled many trees with the old notch and drop. Recently I bought climbing gear. I've got a 40ft cedar in my back yard that I could've notched and dropped it but instead I climbed it to learn. And man was it fun lol. It's still standing currently with the top still on it. At the time all I had was a 20 inch saw that was heavy as fuck so I was waiting for my top handle saw before I cut the top off and chunk it down. (Purely a learning experience.) Anyway keep up the good work man. I enjoy watching you. People make mistakes. Dont worry about them just learn and grow
