    I loved this video and have already made the leaders.
    I have to ask, what is the pattern of the blue and cream color quilt that you have hanging up in the background?
    PS. LOVE my new Laurastar. Thanks for your help! ❤

    I made these when I first saw them on your machine and absolutely love them! I added the magnums to the front leader (quilt top bottom) by sewing the metal part into the seam, so now when I load my quilt top, it’s so quick and easy. No pins, no blood!!

      @@adamsewfun. - I’ll see if I can post a picture on instagram or fb. I use zippers, but I put an extension on my leaders so I can either sew, pin, or use red snappers to attach backing, and quilt top bottom to the frame. I prefer to sew, because I inevitably poke my fingers and bleed 😖. I put the magnum row in for the bottom of the quilt and it makes it so quick and easy to load, and release when you get to the bottom row.

    Just so you know...😉 cover the plywood with heavy duty foil. Two layers and overlap the edges of the bottom with the top. Then use two layers of cotton batting and then your fabric. The foil will stop the steam from warping the wood.

    Thanks so much for all your videos. Just watching this for the first time. I have a suggestion, you could use a zipper foot on your sewing machine instead of a regular one. That would enable the needle to get closer to the magnet.

    Why did you double roll one side at the end? Couldn't you use it sewn in once? Just a little confused about that; sorry. I sewed in bottoms of Sew Tites on my leader and put magnets down on my quilt top when I load the bottom of the quilt top.

    so what do these do?

    • @adamsewfun.
      @adamsewfun.  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I clap to the strap and use the magnet on my backing. It not only takes the clamp away from my quilt so the ruler base or machine won’t hit it, it also keeps the clamps working if the grey part breaks off.

    Just to give you hard time I want you to know I have manila envelopes and use them and I am not nobody. ; ) Do you know if the magnets from the magnet hoops on an embroidery machine are as strong as the ones you are using? They seem to be thicker than the ones you are using. So maybe they would interfere with the machine movement. I have the hoop magnets so may try them first. Thank you!!

    • @adamsewfun.

    Watching again. I am trying to think of a way to do this without having to use the clamps that came with my frame. I don't do Facebook so can't watch her video I think.

    • @adamsewfun.
      @adamsewfun.  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you didn't want to use the clamps at all, you might be able to to make one long strip. Then use the magnets on one end and another magnet on the frame to hold it tight.

    • @lyndabuchholz1216

    Enjoyed the video! It looks like your machine takes standard feet that fit industrials. Have you tried other feet like a Teflon foot? In a set of feet I got for my Juki industrial I got a Teflon zipper foot that would work great in this situation.

    • @adamsewfun.
      @adamsewfun.  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bet that would be fantastic. I just don’t have a lot of feet for this straight stitch machine. I have them all for my Bernina but that is put away at the moment.

    Hey Adam! Great video, I guess I will be making some side leaders, but bigger for my clamps.😊

  • @gabrielleolivier1023
    @gabrielleolivier1023 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why couldn’t you bring the other end over and attach it to the magnet so it’s not grabbing the foot? You would of course have to take care to hold the fabric out of the way.

  • @sprklhair
    @sprklhair 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Adam, love videos! just wondering if you still use your "quick zip system". I'm considering buying them, just not sure how to get them on my leaders. I have an Innova and they duct taped the leaders on the bars. Oh and very sorry to hear about your dog. takes quite a while to get over that, if you ever really do.

    • @adamsewfun.
      @adamsewfun.  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do still love them and use them on almost every quilt. The only time I don't is when I want to put a top off-center of my back.

  • @roriemcfadden6097
    @roriemcfadden6097 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What are these side leaders used for?

    • @jadm222
      @jadm222 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To hold the sides of the quilt. Instead of clamping to my quilt, I clamp to the side leader. It brings the clamp away from the sides of the quilt and keeps the machine and ruler base from hitting the side clamps.

      @@adamsewfun. WOW. Only true people will take the time to be honest with you and honesty helps you grow your channel Adam. I am sure that Joe was trying to offer some thoughtful perspective. Is your purpose truly to educate? If so, your viewer's opinions should matter. Relax brother.

      @@Ronibearable If someone had an issue with my teaching style, they can simply change the channel. The great thing about the internet, there’s something out there for everyone. There is no need for me to “relax” because I’m not bothered that someone thinks I ramble, I do. I was simply stating that people get what they get with me and if that’s not a good fit, there are probably other opportunities. As for my purpose to educate, that is my goal, which is why I devote my time and energy into this channel. This is all done on my own time, in my own studio, on my own equipment. I will never be able to be all things to all people, but I can be myself, and I’m true to myself in every video on this channel.
