To understand Luffy's decision not to fight back against Bellamy, just remember the first episodes, when Shanks didn't fight back against the mountain thief's attack on the bar in Luffy's city. Hence Luffy's thought of not attacking just anyone was inspired by Shanks. The funny part is that Nami gets angry and says the same thing that Kid Luffy said to Shanks
Exactly! When you first watch this scene (at least when I did as a kid) you get so frustrated cause bellamy and all them are just shitty bullies and you want someone to put them in their place. @@isaac3078 There are some other characters aswell that influenced Luffy postive, that helped him develope and be better captain. Vivi and Shanks was probably the first two who really helped Luffy early on in the series.
The argument at the bar was one of ideologies. Realists vs Dreamers. Bellamy mocks Luffy for being a dreamer and foolish for believing Sky Island exist. Bellamy resorted to violence to show that he was right. They could’ve fought back and beat up Bellamy but then they would be no different from him, forcing your ideology onto someone through violence. Luffy asking Zoro to not fight back was symbolism that you can’t force your ideas onto others through violence. Though I do agree it was very frustrating to watch.
Bellamy was not a realist, he was just plain ignorant. Bellamy believes Luffy's bounty is just 30 million berry and dismisses the possibility of it being higher and he further dismiss the existence of Sky Island out of sheer ignorance, In fact, he probably won't believe it exist even if you come back to the Mock Town to tell him. Zoro was hurt and Nami was made fun of. Luffy has beaten guys who's done much less, and Shank would have killed them the moment they lay hand on his friends. This is not the same as a little splash of wine.
@@rustygear447 When you aim high, you come across people not worth fighting. They "fought" them by showing they weren't even taking them seriously. It was a test for Luffy to imitate Shanks, Zoro to show his loyalty, and Nami to withstand the ridicule. That's why (Spoiler for skypiea arc:) Blackbeard said they "won". If they started attacking Nami, or they decided to kill Luffy or Zoro, they would defend themselves, but they knew that it was just a way to publicly embarrass them, not stop them, so they chose this in defiance. Also if Nami cried or stepped in to fight them, I'm sure Luffy would help her (his promise at her island). It wasn't just a test for Luffy, it was a test for all three. It also goes to show how much Luffy understands Zoro, Nami, and the entire situation they were in. It's supposed to be difficult for all three. It's supposed to make the viewers mad because we want to protect them. But most of all, it was something that makes sense for Luffy to take on in order to aim higher in his mind. I partly agree it was different from Shanks, but saying it was similar to Shanks scene definitely helps explain most of the situation. The burden he put on Nami and Zoro was because they are his nakama (not just friends (tomodachi - what Shanks called Luffy)) and he wants to aim higher and depend on them. I disagree that he ordered Zoro to not fight back though. This scene could be fixed like this. Luffy stands in front of Zoro to take the hit and not fight back. Then Zoro realizes what Luffy wants, and he also not fight back. That would be better. Luffy giving order to his friend to take damage for him is just not Luffy. Another way to fix it is for Luffy to tell Zoro and Nami to get away if they want to but he's not fighting these guys. Did the editor really cut those iconic quotes? Really bro?
"they are gonna be best friends"..... oooooooooooo
The luffy and zoro not fightimg back is because they laughed at there dream to go to sky island and you know how serious luffy takes peoples dreams
back then, i couldn't understand too why they did not fight, of course i knew its because how shanks taught luffy, and how vivi influenced him too, but at tht time, i thought it was a bit extreme that they took all of that beating because of that ideology. But now that I'm almost caught up and have rewatched some episodes many times now, I finally understand how badass and cool luffy and zoro was in this scene. It takes a lot of drive and determination to stand by what you believe while being mocked and beaten up and deciding to not fight back.
If you punch a guy who just laughs at your dream, it shows nothing but that you are insecure about it in the first place
If you punch them, they can just go on and on mocking you no matter what
Disbelievers will never shut the fuck up until you really realize it
You rly cut out The best LINE in The series
Gotta be a real one to understand what luffy was doing from the jump
I love this channel but i felt some type of way when Ron said thats not in luffy's character like are we watching the same show ?
13:09 OMG ...
this is behavior from shanks, who woudnt even fight the mountain bandits, in a way its a subtle power play, like saying, these guys have no dreams they are not even worth crushing.
It’s weird we never see this random pie loving guy talking about dreams ever again 🤔
we need more one piece episodes!
I knew these two wouldn’t get it
luffy won't fight with someone who doesn't have a dream.
I love it when Cherry Pie Guy screamed "People's dream have no end!!"
Cherry pie guy have a they/them pronouns😂😂😂😂
Next episode so good, man.
The age where Pirates dream, will never die!!! 🗣️
At that time i disliked Bellamy, later i got different vibes from him.
By the way, what your opinion on bleach and fairy tail?
Im going to ask a non-spoiler question, and anyone who understands just either say if they do or don't. We all know who we saw, do they know by now? Or do they still not know, like on their Patreon? Again, if you understand the question, just say yes or no. Thanks
People’s dream have no end!!
3 episode in 1 video pls .. can't wait 😢
The title should be : Luffy and Zoro let Bellamy beat them up lol
People's dreams... Never end!!!
Welp you gotta get patreon if you want to see their reaction to peoples dreams never end.

She ain't wrong, they've the same name.
This eps was good, we'll know that luffy decision not to fight cause they're not have a dream.
And we saw how zoro loyality to luffy
O man you cut most important part
PEOPLES DREAMS…. HAVE NO END!
See people complain about flash backs but if there was a flash back when luffy was tajing the beating you guys probably would have understood why he didint fight back. 😅
what do you mean Luffy is out of character? thats literally the same scene with shanks and the bandits when Luffy was young is he going to repeat his mistake back then? thats literally one of the biggest moments in his life!
Luffy doesn't think that those without a dream are worth attention basically. Not even worth the hands.
