Vito is playing a customized Steinberger with a transtrem locking vibrato bar that allows him to retune the guitar. The strings lock into the bridge where there are pegs that can be twisted to tune the guitar.
To elaborate-- the strings are specially made for the guitar with "balls" on both ends (at least they were in the early models-- I dunno if they ever modified it to take regular strings), and benefit of that was that the tremolo bar (whammy bar) could be used, and all the strings would stay in tune with each other. Additionally, you could lock the bar at pre-set spots to quickly tune up or down for songs (which this one does, up to F, probably so Mike Tramp could sing it higher). Eddie Van Halen famously used one on the 5150 album and subsequent tour-- check out live versions of "Summer Nights" or "Get Up" to see/hear it in action. His looks different, but the main part of the guitar is basically the same as Vito's on this song, just the body shape is different. This is one of Vito's best solos of all time, by the way. It's so exciting and fluid, and it never stops moving. This song showed up in Guitar magazine back in the day in their tab section, and I foolishly tried to learn it. Needless to say, I feel far short.
This is regarded as Vito's best solo. It just flows so smoothly. And his tone in the solo sounds......the best word I can use to describe it is "Crisp". The guitar in this video is a Steinberger GM-2T. There are tuning pegs on the tremolo. Another song you should check out is "Lady Of The Valley". As for other bands, check out "I'll Never Let You Go" by Steelheart and "Come Again" by Damn Yankees.
This is my favorite White Lion song! Its so awesome, catchy and inspiring! Vito Bratta was phenomenal! Guys, react to "Lady of the Valley" that song is awesome!
I believe this song won an award back in the day for peace if I remember correctly. I don't remember other White Lion songs you reacted to but Tell Me is a great song and their ballad When the Children Cry. Also if you haven't reacted to any FireHouse, they have song banging tunes too.
The song was written about the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior in New Zealand in 1985 (Greenpeace boat) with a bomb while it was in dock. It killed one person who was asleep on the boat at the time. Awesome band!
I think that guitar has a floating bridge such as a Floyd Rose or similar style. There is an anchoring piece at the top and fine tuners at the bottom near the bridge. The fine tuners behind the bridge tune the strings.
Very cool you guys are checking out lots of White Lion. Definitely one of the most popular 80’s hard rock bands without totally falling for the LA hair metal thing. They were mostly from New York and Mike Tramp from Denmark. In Toronto in the mid-late 80’s they were massive. Second only to Van Halen and maybe Cinderella and Skid Row …. but they were badass and wrote great songs. Too bad they packed it in so early, but without Vito there was no band, and he still owns the band name. Great channel guys - liked and subscribed!
haha White Lion was a great band, but they weren´t very popular in the 1980´s, and definitely not one of the most popular bands, and the reason for that is because THEY DID NOT have the flash that the most popular bands had, (it´s funny though cause you say they didn´t fall for the hair metal thing because even this video they have the hair metal thing lol you know, every band did not have hair looking like Nitro or early Crue days, in fact most popular bands looked did not have high hair after their first album, and even white lion had very high hair for their first album...I think you remember things wildly wrong, nobody cared to go to see white lion live except young girls, i mean saying they were massive is like saying faster pussycat was massive. In truth, nobody knew white lion or faster pussycat unless you were a metalhead, and 80% of metalheads would not go to a white lion show because their wasn´t enough fire and flames and action/show on stage. And cinderella was another one where you seem to think they were huge...the only one you got right was skid row (not sure why you´re mentioning van halen as they were never considered a metal band, in fact people who did not listen to metal did listen to van halen. They were considered rock/hard rock. Skid row was big, and cinderella and white lion was no where near skid rows popularity. White lion was just another one of the hudreds of bands that barely made it but never made it big.
One of the great assholes too. I was a huge White Lion fan and as I was learning guitar in the 1980's Vitto Brata was one of my axe hero's. Saw White Lion open for AC/DC and the crowd gave them an awful time as they just wanted to see AC/DC. I thought they (White Lion) were great. Anyway I saw Vito coming out of a lift and I must have been the only person to recognise him. I approached him and I asked politely and courteously for an autograph.I was calm and mannerly. He puts on this attitude and was obnoxious and a total asshole. No valid excuse for his rude behaviour. I was 15 or 16 at the time. Would he have reacted the same way if I was some big busted blonde groupie? Absolute great axe player and he almost became Ozzy Osbournes guitarist when Randy Rhodes died. Brad Gillis(Night Ranger) took over guitar duties temporarily but Sharon Osborne spoke to Vito on the phone but obviously it never happened. He was featured in all the guitar magazines at the time. Gifted musician. When I got home I took down my individual Vito posters but kept my White Lion posters up!
@johnroche7541 What's that they say about beware of wanting to meet your heroes?......I've heard similar stories from other people about him.....KARMA is a fickle bitch...
@@johnroche7541thanks for sharing your story. The way he walked out of the music scene was rude too because he was really gifted and did not want to play anymore. If i could play like him i would never quit 😢
This song is about the Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior that was sunk in 1985.
White Lion is awesome. Vito Bratta is a real shredder….fun fact: The bass player, James Lomenzo, is now the bass player in Megadeth 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Vito Bratta, the 80's most melodic guitarist.
Absolutely fantastic

You got to hear one of the greatest solos of all time! :)

The guitar hes playing is called a steinberger guitar headless stock
I remember this back in 89 best summer

The guitar changes consistently through this whole song. Vito was amazing. Loved growing up then
If I'm not mistaken I believe the song was written about the Green Peace ships that combat the Illegal whale hunting
Banger!!
Steinberger brand guitar. Tuners at the bottom.
thats a headless guitar and the the tuners are on the bridge. sort of like a locking tromolo system you find on many guitars with a locking system.
Check out their cover of radar love. Vito’s work on it is ridiculous.
Vito Bratta is my top one guitar player🎸💥🎶
The guitar is a steinberger Eddie played one too for a bit.
For the next White Lion song, please react to "Hungry - HQ Audio". Vito does one of his best guitar solos!
Vito one of the best guitarists for that genre.
Their.best work here - song is about an unarmed Spanish warship I believe named Geenpeace that went into battle
Wait is great. They also did a cover of Radar Love which kicked ass. 👍💪
white lion when the children cry great song.
Fantastic. 🤘🤘🤘
Mr. Tramp was also such a heartthrob, that brings back memories ❤️🔥🤘
The song was written about the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior in New Zealand in 1985 (Greenpeace boat) with a bomb while it was in dock. It killed one person who was asleep on the boat at the time. Awesome band!
Love White lion..'going home tonight' is amazing and pretty upbeat !!
Your next white lion song should be their remake of golden earrings radar love that one is way better than the original
Yep, totally agree. It rocks way harder, and has some killer drum playing.
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽🤘🤘🤘

Love it

Fire!
Guys, you need some RATT n ROLL. "Way Cool jr", "Nobody Rides For Free", "I Want a Woman", "Dance", "Round & Round"
"Broken Heart" is probably my fav. There are 2 versions. "Wait" is ok also.
This is another great song by white lion
You should check out Broken Heart from these guys. Great tune and another classic Vito solo!
The guitar is always the high point I white lion
This song is about the rainbow warrior ship ftom new zealand against whaling
You guys need to react to the real band LION, their are more harder. Songs to react to are Power love and Never Surrender...
Unfortunately, you guys missed out on a lot of bands in the 80s. When music was music. It seems to me you enjoy the music.😊
Vito Bratta was gonna be one of the greats, but life intervened...
