    Nick thank you for this Stunning “COMPARO” between the Comanche, Strat, and MIM Strat …. even I can hear the very obvious differences as you demo’d them. Fantastically helpful, thank you. As I try to choose a new guitar that will be dedicated to gigging and busking in myriad uncontrolled situations. Your beautifully stripped down comparison speaks volumes about the robust clarity the Comanche is capable of.

    The Comanche is bassy and sorta makes everything sound equal, while the normal start pickups are trebly and and certain tones can go over others which isn't a bad thing it's just a different sound

    Had an 89 American Standard Strat, sold it for a Legacy, and then sold the Legacy for a G&L ASAT Classic S with alnico pickups. (A T-style with a Legacy pickup added in the middle position.) The PTB system really expands the tonal range of the Legacy. I don't know why Fender didn't think of this. I also thought the G&L dual-fulcrum vibrato was far superior to the Fender. Very good video. Thanks.

    Excellent video. I've never touched a G&L but have been exploring their sounds as much as possible via the Internet. Your video was particularly helpful, with both the Legacy and the Comanche being played back-to-back as well as having a traditional Fender Strat in the mix. Any chance you've ever played an S-500? If so, what did you think of it?

    Curious what your settings are on the PTB system. Are you compensating the commanche to make it sound more strat like?
    Is the fenders tone at 10?
    Is the Treble and bass both at 10?
    Well i see you tweak it near the end at least.

    • @nick_reiner
      @nick_reiner  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      No compensation, tone controls were at 100% on all three up until I did the close-up demos of the tone control range.

      Pretty sure the guys guitar is a build to order one since Comanches don’t actually come in surf green standard unless you do a build to order, custom, or g&l does a builders choice. So you can pretty much get any combination you want.

    Actually the first tone control is the treble cut, the second is the bass cut. I own a Legacy and several Strats so I’m pretty familiar with them. The PTB seems to work best on higher output pickups. The Strat was my favorite followed by the Legacy and Comanche. I’m curious as to why you didn’t use an American Strat-the Pro II offers the neck/bridge combo as well as all three pickups. Nice demo, great playing and a great recording too.

    • @nick_reiner
      @nick_reiner  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Ah man, how embarrassing I listed the PTB backwards…in my mind, I was thinking of it backwards - “passive bass” as adjusting the amount of bass that you hear, rather than it being a treble cut and same with “passive treble” amount of treble heard. I would have loved to do the demo with an American Strat but I was just working with what I actually own. Appreciate the feedback, thanks for watching 🙂
