Frankly they played out of their minds. Very much a deserved victory, but as pointed out by Notail in an interview; LGD forced the push if they backed for a few moments to reset they probably would have won. Then again this is in hindsight 6 years later. In that situation very few people would have even been able to see clearly let alone pull off an insane 3v5 base defence. One of my favorite TI moments of all time. Definitely the best TI as well.

He saw two lives of each of LGD's players while defending the base with at most two of his teammates, each of them spending or are unable to buyback. Only then did he die and bought back. It was also his buyback that enabled the GG push. If he was still on death timer by the time JerAx Echo Slammed, they couldn't have pushed to the base in time for LGD to respawn as ana only respawned by the time they were knocking on the tier 4s already, and Ceb's Pugna couldn't have knocked down the tier 3 by himself without Topson or creeps. Like you can say it was teamwork and all, but you can't deny the sheer balls and nerve Topson had facing the tournament favorites (because VP did VP in TI things) in one of the most pressured situations in TI history (among the top 3, with the million dollar dream coil+a ratting Bulldog and Na'Vi conceiving the fountain hook out of sheer desperation arguably the other two). Oh and it was his first LAN tournament.
Topson unreal Jerax was such a difference maker his peak level of play on the 4 imo is the GOAT so many close tight games, or games where they CRUSHED early & mid because of this dudes ability to make the BIG CLUTCH plays that other 4 players just haven’t been able to do as consistently through the early mid & late.

They should have fallen back and let Ame hold his buyback, Topson still had buyback in that brutal defense duty till he died in the right moment Ana and Topson carried this fight so hard, stalled as much as they can till Shaker revive to turn around the fight against TB without Meta
Fy made a big misplay 0:52 spectre should died right there. I agree it’s hard to calculate that angle for the cogs to push spectre into the team. But he probably should’ve tried. Instead of doing what he did which was worse. (basically he gave spectre more advantageous position to escape) He could’ve even just trapped spectre better. Still fy god tho. LGD really should have won this. That Chinese team is goated. The rest is the beginning of the end..

Ana was always going to be the target as he was on a very beefy Spectre with a lot of threat but he can't really be safe as if Topson's Arc Warden falls, there goes half the damage and 3/4s of their utility since they're still waiting on the Pugna and Earthshaker. But Topson just stood using his box of tricks to near perfection, while taking note of who's with him and who are the hard threats (Terrorblade is especially TERRIFYING the entire time) keeping them delayed for a bit longer. Not to mention him using his Tempest Double to forcestaff the main and catch Mirana's arrow. Twice. Then Ame died in a bad way and had to buyback, and killed 5 seconds of LGD's tempo, 5 seconds more for OG. Then JerAx respawned for the Echo Slam and Topson used his buyback, the last of the entire siege. Game over.
