  • It's that time of year again with hearts and flowers abound! This year I decided that instead of a card I would make a cute heart stone with a message of love impressed ♥️😍
I modelled the heart stones from solid pieces of clay as they're quite small. I then smoothed the surface, impressed my messages of love, filled the impressions with oxide before letting them dry and burnishing them. Fired to 990C to keep the burnish the heart stones are then finished with a wax polish to make them shiny.
I had some coloured porcelain left over from one of my sculptures so it seemed like an ideal way to use it. I'd coloured the porcelain just by adding some powdered mason stains into the clay and wedging it up until the colour was spread through all the clay. This works fine for small quantities like this but I'm not sure it would work so well for larger amounts....
    Happy Valentines! 🥰
