Don't know if you've figured it out yet, but those cargo containers (and anything you remove goop or metal from) can be searched again to for the loot. When you remove the metal and goop, you're fixing it so you can search it again. Terminals in buildings do the same thing if they require you to remove the goop and metal.
Loving the series, got me into playing it.
Hi Mango, just some tips:
If you go into your multi tool menu you can build a Boltcaster that will be your first gun, then its the same button to switch between the gun, mining beam etc..
When shooting the eggs, you will notice the cores rolling out, you only have a few seconds to pick them up before they disappear into the ground.
Try to buy/mine Uranium for the Starship launch thrusters, its much easier than creating launch fuel.
You should be mining Cobalt in caves to make Ion batteries to charge your suits hazards protections, batteries also last longer.
To make money/Units early in the game, collect either those eggs, Salvage data or find a planet that has Gold to mine.

All good tips here. Whispering eggs are great to find early game. The larval cores can either be sold or put in refiner for 50 nanites each

Never buy what you can make. I believe shooting rocks in space gets you free fuel. Better than spending money that's in short supply to start a game. If she lasts long enough, she'll end up with more money than she can spend but starting out you have very little to waste. But fuel is a waste. You shot a rock and get it free.
I'm glad to see someone else that likes to walk around a planet instead of just flying around a planet!
Hey Mango! Early on you mentioned burying the wires, and while you can't quite bury them, there's a piece of buildable tech you can get later that makes the wires invisible.

Crashed Freighters unfortunately are not as diverse as they could be, there's always 6 containers in the exact same spots. The radiation isn't a big deal, just rember the mantra, "Git yer shite and git out."

Your ship is pretty durable. It can be wrecked if you smash into the ground but you have to work at it. If you need to pause the game for a long time, use photo mode as long as you aren't in multiplayer mode. When clearing away things like slimes or rusted metal, you cam press your middle mouse button to delete them. The rusted metal can be refined into ferrite dust if you need it.
When exploring crashed freighters, opening the boxes will expose you to a hazardous element so loot them and run away quickly.
Later on you will learn how to build storage devices for your bases.

You won't understand the significance of those weird plants at the end, unless you dive into the lore of exotic planets.
Is there a way to find the lore of the plants in game?
@@MangoPlaysGames yes and no. It's there, but it's fractured. You'll have to find the bits and pieces, then piece them together. The guide has a section where you can look up what you've found so far. This includes untranslated bits that will gradually become translated as you learn the words. I'll be happy to tell you about the plants, I generally don't reveal spoilers unless asked tho.
Yes, your first exosuit upgrade at a space station is free.

@@MangoPlaysGames so, my original suit had your helmet with solid yellow to make a smiley emoji. Since purple is the complementary color to yellow I used purple accents with a gray base. Like someone that threw together a super hero costume from things in their garage. Since then yellow/purple has been my base color palette when making suits.

The salvage containers you find at crashed freighters always are radioactive inside. You just need to grab the contents quick and then just move away. The range of the rad damage is not large.
When you're talking to aliens on space stations and request that they teach you a word, the options are categories of words, not a minigame. You don't need to worry too much about it, you will always learn a new word for this until you know every word in the category, then that category will no longer appear as an option.
The "mystery" category is more important than it seems. This one contains all the words that don't fit into other categories, like prepositions and conjunctions. Which are important for solving puzzles.

I have discovered something about myself: I don't enjoy finding out how things work by trial and error... And I'm not fond of tiny text (my eyes aren't as sharp as they used to be)

I have found out you can kind of.... I at this point like the way of learning the language at the moment so declined it!
I kind of agree, and the tutorial is a bit overwhelming at the moment. One of the things I do like is that you can do what you want, or it feels that way at the moment - which I do like that! Tiny text is bad, I will have a look and see if I can up the scaling!!! I might actually read the prompts properly that way!!

Interesting, I had figured you'd be stuck on the planet for longer. A lot more fun this way, especially learning Gek - I love it!

You mentioned about grading labels on tools and other things Not ships and vehicle Hello Games added a 4th class "X" which could give the numbers sometimes a massive boost Vet's tip: when you have progressed beyond a certain point in the game on the inventory list there'll be several blue/silver Supercharger slots showing and if you can move related groups so they light up on the adjacency bonus, the bonus reward will be even higher OK?

I think with the "Practice Language" option, you want to choose words that you already know. I've never tested this myself tho.
Oh maybe, but I thought only words I knew showed up? Confusing 😁
@@MangoPlaysGames it is 😂 it's not a crucial minigame tho. It's not used for anything important, just gives you some free random stuff, so I never put too much thought into it myself. I only started to put it together recently with words you know and words you don't.
I think you can store things on your ship for extra inventory.

Even better idea, get the Freighter and build a base on board and its containers have higher capacity than the regular storage units. Plus I also stock my reserve ships in the Freighter with the surplus stock though its a massive Grind they allow you to to have 8 or 9 reserves and you can delay unloading transferring stock Frigates when they return from missions another 10?

@@terrybradford3727 Hi Terry, good question, The moment you are aboard the freighter go to the Bridge via the Teleporter then go through the central doorway and work out the layout have seen several arrangements and install your first storeroom asap start stocking it up. 1 freighter I had has had doors leading into space making construction awkward ran out of parts rather fast, so a bit of forward planning may be of use.
Time to do the basics get sort of organised 1/ 2 hours. A near Full complement? A few days if you are in a rush
I think my Playstyle is construct 4 or 5 storage containers name them to avoid confusion.

I don't think so. And I've been on every planet type.
Be mindful of the "advice" you get. With how often this game gets updated it's often out of date or opinionated without mentioning the other options that exist. Basically, this game has more than one way to do everything.
Personally, I don't like using the save beacons at my bases the marker they create is extremely useful for certain things you'll find out about later, but the markers can turn your base into an annoying clusterf*ck of markers. Later on, you'll get a portable save point that doesn't have the marker. You're also limited to 5 beacons per planet, so eatimg one up can be annoying.
Alternatively, there are missions that give you some of this stuff for free.
