Sheep Farming Vlog: Feeding Sheep

- Today at Ewetopia Farms, we show you how we go about feeding our sheep. Our barns are set up so that we feed round bales down a central alleyway and to do so, we simply roll the bales out. One bale feeds 100-150 sheep/day. At this time of year, we are starting to feed our first cut wrapped hay which consists of approximately 70% alfalfa and the rest is mixed grasses. Most sheep are also fed a little bit of grain both morning and night totally about 1 pound of grain/head/day. This amount gets increased during pregnancy and lactation and if sheep are losing condition. Sheep not in breeding groups at the moment also go out to pasture every day to graze.

Great video! I though you did't do heights 😬 ? Great view from up there. The kittens look to be doing quite well too. Arnie is in "Goldilocks" mode, fields are too dry, too wet, ahh, just right! Kracker and Lamborghini are settling in nicely and learning about electric fence. The have caught on well. Have a great week!

The kittens are growing! 🐈 All the ewes and rams look in such good shape for the winter. 🌨 🐑 I went over to Norwal Farm to see Kracker and Lamborghini and was happy to see how well they’ve taken to their new home. They will throw some awesome lambs for Michael, which is great advertising for Ewetopia! 😊🐑

Awww The kittens are cute, ablack and white, a blue and white and two brown macheral tabbies, Grey in the cat world is called blue, i use to show cats years ago, they have a huge list of coat colors and patterns i remembered from show days. Tom would be a blue mackeral tabby with white, Buddy is a blue mackeral tabby, Scotty is a brown mackeral tabby with white.and so on..... They are beautiful.😄🥰🥰
Awesome, I love that. I don't know the cat colors but it was like that with the Shetland sheep. They have an amazing range of colors and patterns.

Hi Lynn, always good to follow the routines you and Arnie do on the farm. No worries! The kittens are getting big. Did they find your barn from the end of your driveway? Is there a mama cat too? Wonder if she has met your boys! Be careful climbing the straw bales. You don’t want to fall. Until tomorrow
I assume that they came from the end of the driveway. We are not sure if there is a mother or not. We now think it is 5 kittens and perhaps no mother. It is hard to say because they are not tame and hide in the hay bales. Time will tell.

Are there FOUR or FIVE kittens? I thought you had two wearing tuxedos, one russian blue, and one bengal-tabby.... but in today's video you had two Bengal-Tabby babies.... so I think there are five. :)

Thanks. We will keep feeding the kittens and if they stick around, we will have to neuter them. Not sure if there is a mom.

The kittens look to be 4 to 6 months of age. Wrap your bales more, you also may need an inoculated added.
I am thinking they are 4 months old. We increased our wrap this year to 24 revolutions. Innoculant may help. The bales are much better than last year. The problem is that animals climb the bales overnight and put tiny puncture marks all over them 😌
