Good afternoon Arnie and Lynn. Wow. Look at that sky. So glad you made it to the last bale and it is stacked. Hi you big boys. Ready for supper I see. Anyone that gets a ram from you guys has made the right selection. The sheep let you know it is feeding time. From noise to munching. I love the sound they make. That is so interesting to understand the thought process in feeding sheep so they can be the best they can be. Happy dance for Arnie being done with hay. Always love love the lessons from Ewetopia University. Big big hugs to you both. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😉😉😉❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Very interesting information Arnie! I never gave any thought to the minerals being corrosive to the mixer, but it makes sense. When an entire flock is as consistent and healthy looking as the Ewetopia sheep, it's clear you guys know your sheep's nutritional needs. Thanks for a great video!! Stay safe!!🙏❤🇺🇸

Hello from Minnesota 🌽I enjoy it when you visit the Rams. It would be fun if you went through as a series 1) the yearlings- bring your tag reader & identify who are their fathers (mothers if they are famous ones) talk about what you like about them, etc 2) The retired & older rams: their stories, famous offspring, any awards won, were they born at Eutopia Farms or where they came from. 3) Finally, the breeding pool both active & "on the bench." same talking points.

Aside from visible condition of livestock, the other main indicator of good nutrition is how well females handle pregnancy and delivery. A high incidence of metabolic illnesses, in otherwise young and healthy animals: like Pregnancy Toxemia and Hypocalcemia - mean something is out of whack in their diet or feeding process. Those things are a rare occurrence at Ewetopia, so it's hard to find fault with Arnie's feed plan. If I was about to get into sheep farming, this is the place I would emulate.

I would think, if you give them the choice to go to the salt mineral feeders on their own, they know what their bodies need of each, am i right? I know, when i had goats, i would have free choice salt mineral and they would lick what they needed, i didn't have to worry about overdosing them with every feeding, at least i felt like i was overdosing them if i put it in every meal?

@@EwetopiaFarms It depends on local geographic conditions (boggy areas favour midges); local midges (not all of them carry the virus); climate (hard frosts prevent midges overwintering); and sheep breeds (european breeds have no resistance). If I were in a boggy part of the world right now I would be looking at resistant breeds of sheep.
      According to the Alberta government:
“Most of Canada is currently free of the disease. The current potential for Bluetongue to spread in Canada is limited both seasonally and geographically. However, climatic change and associated shifts in vector habitat have the potential to change Bluetongue distribution patterns.
“Over the past 30 years, there have been occurrences of Bluetongue in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. These are believed to be the result of wind-borne introduction of infected midges from the U.S. In September 2015, Bluetongue was confirmed in southwestern Ontario.”
