In a setting as dark as 40k, I could definitely see some degenerate noble “procuring” some abhumans for unsavory purposes. I’m not going to spell it out, I’m sure you know where I’m going with this. 40k seems like a setting where it’s very dangerous to be beautiful. Unless you’re a blood angel. I don’t know what exactly would happen if you tried to diddle a blood angel, but I’m sure it would probably result in your limbs no longer being attached to your body.

I think GW not desribing them in details and just leaving a vague concept that there are cat people in the Imperium is to make "weirdos" demographics interested into Wh40k. Becouse if they try to do that the Felinids might be some abominations that look like those... things from the "Cats" movie and scare people away. I would read a book that's pretty much just the Veteran and Ogryn from Darktide going on adventures in the underhive of tertium. Maybe throw in the Zealot and Psycher in for flavour. The lack of tie in Novels for that game is a shame. Should've gotten old Dan to write a book about the game instead of whatever he ended up actually doing.
It's so funny too because they're one of the few imports from Warhammer Fantasy that's actually less grimdark then 40k version. For those wonder part of the Ogre story is that one winter they had to eat all of their children to survive but were then cursed to always be hungry and rove the land looking for meals that will never satiate them.

Given that, "Everything is canon, nothing is true," it's entirely reasonable to conclude the answer is, "Yes." While Felinlids originated from a specific place, they've been around for so absurdly long that it's not unreasonable that there's multiple divergent subtypes. So you can have anything from generic weeb catgirls to actual furries based on your preference, and they'd all be lore-compliant.
Abhumans are (mostly) alright I can (mostly) tolerate their existence The Emperor (mostly) love them as well So they are (mostly) a good addition to the lore
I like to see Ogryns as just very large children in the 4-6 age range. They can understand a lot more than you might think but you have to use simple concepts to get there. Plus they make the best friends to have in IG. You can't hate these innocent guys

The humans on other worlds have changed. It blurs the lines of what is Xenos and what is Human. And I love it when the Empire is hypocritical like this. Abumans Is also the perfect personification of the guard. Just a bunch of random dudes thrown together. Trying there best to make it against literal Hell. I wish we could get more Abuman models. Give all the crazy Abumans so i can make and army that makes the inquisitor weep in how much it follows the rules, but goes against them.
A remeber seeing a WH40k fan version that basically was (Even more) Warhammer Fantasy in space. Among other things the ogryns had become the equivalent of the ogre kingdoms, with different criminal empires all based on real life organized crime sindicates like the mafia, yakuza, triads, etc...

My favorite side characters in 40k are twin ratlings who live INSIDE the vents and corridors WITHIN a Titan. It’s a more obscure book from years ago that I read, but they were the highlight tbh
One time on darktide my brother (playing as an ogryn) smacked a zombie so hard that all we could find of it was a right arm and its legs that fell down to their knees and keeled over sideways as if the entirety of the torso except for one arm at the shoulder hadn't been sent into the eye of terror on same day delivery

Hello @KrakDuk I was playing Rogue Trader and in some segment of the game, Cassia my beloved mentioned many abhumans sanctioned by the Empire, many are the same in this video but she mentions some that were not, like the Troths, Pelagers and for some reason Pariahs
As a massive fan of all of Tolkiens work, Rattlings are my absolute favorite, imagine being an important character and getting domed from a midget half mile in the other direction, absolutely amazing

You could play demiurg ships in BFG, but they were there as general mercenaries. Like how kroot are sometimes working for the tau and sometimes riding around in their own warspheres doing their own thing.

In Darktide, my Ogryn named Rook once killed a fellow Ogryn (a Crusher) with a rock. He was aiming for his nads and the rest is history. ... also, I'm still surprised there isn't enough fanart of felinids out there. Almost makes me want to take up drawing 40k again... if I already didn't promise that I'd draw Eldar chicks if I did.
This reminds me of my own fan-Space-Marine chapter the Jack-O-Lanterns, who have a fondness for abhumans. Tho, of course part of their schtick (Aside from being the Halloween-y ones) is that they're highly xenophilic, and yes this does get kinda warped when they try to ideologically balance it with imperial orthodoxy.

This reminds me of my own fan-Space-Marine chapter the Jack-O-Lanterns, who have a fondness for abhumans. Tho, of course part of their schtick (Aside from being the Halloween-y ones) is that they're highly xenophilic, and yes this does get kinda warped when they try to ideologically balance it with imperial orthodoxy.
