I dont think its fast, it just had better acceleration maybe from all wheel drive compared to the m3's two wheel drive, the m3 managed to overtake, but since there was a corner coming up the m3 couldnt full power it incase he rear ends the golf. Still though, that golf is one fast accelerating motherfker
It wasn't a great attack .... It was a dangerous move and ... forbidden i think , the turn right after is the kind of turn that push you on the exit in the oustide line, if i'm not wrong... If the M5 haven't noticed the m3, it would have probably come out of turn right in the M3 BUT both drivers seem's to known what they are doing so nothing wrong in the end, it's a track ... thanks for the vids, nice battle and thumbs up to the m3 drivers and his clean racing line :)
+John Doe yes it's forbidden to overtake from the right. The swift driver could've been someone with not so much experience. It was dangerous. IMO you can race on this track but have to watch out for others. You don't drive there to break the records for the car you drive. It's not the right day (tourist day/ tourist rides?, its Touristenfahrt in german) to do that.
jesus h christ dude! that was exciting... the M5 looked like it was struggling a little in the corners with its extra heft but that driver has balls - talk about driving to the limit... the m3 seemed nice and composed - like it could be pushed a little more. And that black car in the middle - LMFAO.... tag team effort. Hats off to both drivers and machines, this is making me want a M3 real bad....

Goldenhand the Just I think you fail to recognize the great driving from the M5 driver. The M5 is a much bigger handful of a car than the M3. If you were to pluck the M3 driver out of his car and put him in the M5 he would have been pressed to do much better. As another mentioned it was the sheer power of the M5 that keeps it in the race and good driving from both drivers.
C Straley I think you failed to notice the frequent flashing brake lights on the M5 mid-corner, indicating the ESP saving that driver's butt after choosing the wrong line on numerous occasions (just look at his line into Wehrseifen for instance). With all driving aids off, he would have turned the M5 into a very big lump of useless metal a minute into the lap. Plus the completely reckless overtake on both sides of another car towards the end, which is illegal. Sadly, too many folks drive like this and overdo it past the powers of the ESP (or switch it off), and then more reasonable drivers sit around for an hour or two at the entrance of the track and waiting while the marshals scrape another numbnut's ride off the armco somewhere along the track.
+Wmbrt I don't agree or disagree because I know that the M5 drivers skill is probably superior to mine. I know I would have run my M5 right off of the track if I were to attempt driving it the way it was driven.

I think this is my favorite TH-cam video of all time. I've got a 14 f10 m5 with comp package and I could only imagine being able to drive it on the ring. Well done, you really pushed it in the corners to make the most of what your car had to offer. As you could tell he only pulled on the straights but you definitely had him in the corners. Excellent driving!
Nice driving. You were taking better lines and had smoother throttle control than the F10 M5 driver. The F10 looked pretty twitchy in some corners. You always caught up in the corners but the F10 pulled away in the straights.
Amazingly competitive. My experience with M cars is they are all fast regardless of model. While m5 s pull me in the straight I catch up in corners and under braking. But then again I rarely get past them.It is hard to judge the behavior of each of these cars because they may have completely different driver levels of talent, experience and commitment. Cool video, I too found it puzzling some of the hatchbacks were not easily overtaken.
Fun to watch. Just got the F10 M5 (upgraded from the e60 M5) and OMG. It's a completely different car. The torque is amazing. Keep in mind we're talking about a sedan family car vs. a coupe. Ridiculous.

acalthu The stepping out has much to do with the ridiculous power delivery. Sometimes it isn't pretty laying it down if the car isn't pointed somewhat straight.

+edobuga I'm not sure where you are located but in the us I see lot of people talk about the throttle body acuators going out at around 46-60k miles, so if I change this setting what physical dynamics of the car does it change?
+edobuga ok that helps, so basically the reason anyone has that problem here is because they push the car in rapid mode too often and then ruining the gears in the actuators

Like everyone else said, amazing driving. Maintained a nice line throughout the whole lap and controlled the car to the point of milking most of its power around a tough track. I could only dream of having the balls to drive my e92 the way you did.

S65 extremely lacks low end torque and if you were to accelerate from 2nd gear around 2k revs a Prius can keep up with you for a while too.

F10 M5's weight shows in this video, there's just nothing you can do about it.

You must switch off the "rapid throttle" on car's settings and the car is not so nervous Like when IT is switched on

m5 sort of cleared traffic for m3, so the hp advantage did not really utilize.
