i met ray at liverpool lime street station in 87,in a coffee shop,he was off on another shoot, hes always been a hero of mine,it was great to have a breif chance to chat, hes a real nice guy, the original survivalist, ive learned so much from watching him over the years, its boss to be able to watch him again,,thanks for sharing,,,never STOP Loving,,xx
while Ray is a generalist as such he is a specialist in bushcraft, I love how he cultivates and gathers friendships with specialists in every field and where he goes. This is special.
Very beautiful and incredible place. I've always wanted to visit Sweden. I'd probably end up staying for a year. The culture is amazing. In a way, it reminds me of the First Nations people here in Canada. Very beautiful culture. Rich with diversity. My roots are mostly Scottish. I will always love and respect the First Nations people here. I have had the pleasure to meet the women Elders and bead with them. They tell such wonderful stories and love to laugh.
@@Mike-zw7fq diversity isn't good and that's why covetous Europeans shoulda remained in their beautiful European countries, African slaves shoulda been left to remain in their countries, etc. We were doing fine in north America before diversification hit our shores.
You've got to "eat out" at least once in your life. It doesn't have to be in Arctic Sweden. Ray and Lars really did it right, Arctic Char, Lingon berries, a beautiful, remote island... THATS eating out!!!
Never gets old watching this one. I know the Sami work hard at keeping the old ways, but I think less then 10% are rain deer hearders if I wrong please let me know. Also I love how in Sweden they say "The Forest" it sounds personeal that's special the woods and the wild places are a gift to us.
You are more or less right, about 15% of us live from reindeer. It is an old way of life under a lot of threat due to mining, industry and deforestation and tourism.
I live in Colorado and we have the same issues here industry and deforestation and tourism. I'm sure it's a lot harder when you have reindeer that want to move on their migration movements through the land to feed and have their young calfs. I wish there was an easier answer for your people and your way of life. My hope and pray is that the Sami parliament will keep this problems at bay, I feel I am over stepping my bounds here I have know idea how hard it must be. I truly wish you the best of luck.
@@tumbleweed6658 Prayers needed! Thank you! Sami parliament has very limited power indeed. They fight hard but...not easy at all. Real power in the hands of Swedish government. I grew up in South Dakota and many of my friends lived on the Indiana reservation there is some similarities in the way that the native indigenous people of South Dakota were treated as far as their beliefs, language and customs. The big government forget how important this is to the people who have lived this way, or trying to live this way I hope to visit Norway in the near future, I wish you all the best and a very merry Christmas and a fruitful new year .
Swedish mentality to the outdoors is great.....both how they are allowed to stay in the outdoors and how they respect their land too. I wish we had the same in U.K
Their motherland was stolen and many were violated, murdered and stolen from parents in the name of covetousness for their land. God bless the Sami people.
As I said, maybe you should look into it a bit more. Its not an indigenous culture, you know there is a little something called DNA that proves that. So it is a disgrace that the government still call it a indigenous culture.
@@Stefandanielsson99what do you mean by indigenous, because it seems like you are using a deliberately specific definition to exclude a people you don't like (for some bizarre reason)
I've only been to Sweden once and I was working BUT the limited nature Custom and people I had the privilege of seeing and meeting were truly amazing! I've never been anywhere so visually stunning or met other people who were more friendly respectful and helpful. I would love too live there anyone who does are truly blessed 🙌

I am really impressed to see that in Sweden some of the old world skills are being kept alive for modern generations to appreciate.
Yeah I spend 2 weeks of the summer in Sweden and I have lots of family there, the landscape is really beautiful
and how everyone takes care of their country.

I accompanied a friend in Sweden taking his yacht up to be removed from the water for the winter. I had 3 layers of fleece and just about stayed warm1
Wool keeps you warmer, the wind just goes straight through that polyester material.

Lol for sure😂👍🏽 Grylls is all drama
Grills will be in a nice Hotel restaurant when the cameras are off.
Nice joke, and only a decade late!
As a Swede i'm very proud of the Sami, their rich history and knowledge of bushcraft. To bad they have been treated to poorly over the years :(
Do you mean all the bennefits they recieve? Or the fact that they can do almost whatever they want? maybe you should look into it.
