This an extremely timely tutorial for me. I was underpowered on a CR:X 10M on the weekend and struggling to return to the beach. The kite kept backstalling and then relaunching was difficult due to dropping wind velocity. After watching this tutorial I realize that the kite wasn't at fault. Due to the wind dropping off I was struggling to keep on a plane and was oversheeting the kite and causing the backstall. The irony of this is, my backstalling fiasco was on the same day this video was published! Thanks guys for another great video!
Thank you for your videos Would it be possible to make a video on front stalling I got this issue quite often on a small lake nearby home, with light and gusty winds, either on landing area with lot of trees making wind turbulent, or just on the water when wind picks up but suddenly stops for a short while Could I prevent this and when the kite is just upside down, what could I do to avoid a complete drop with lines mixed up around kite, and most of the time self rescue and natakite?
Hello Denis. Well, yes, backstalling is a useful method for landing foil kites, people do this when show kiting for example, but that's not the point of this video. Backstalling is a mistake to be avoided. Many beginners backstall by mistake in light wind - or even if they are not fully backstalling, many are choking their kite with too much steering tension. Understanding that pushing the bar out helps the leading edge fly quicker and manoeuvre better, is useful to understand if you see your kite being sluggish in light wind.
You forgot to mention that some kites have multiple attachment points. Problem could also be that the rear were attached too close to the kite relative to the front.
agni kaczmarek That’s an important point. Especially the back lines of Core shorten a lot and should be checked after each session ( as others also). To ensure equal line length on the Core bars: 1) adjust the back lines with nodes under the floaters. And/or: 2) stretch the back lines until they are equal and same lengths as front lines (see explainer video on core’s web) and/or 3) use adjuster to shorten front lines (as explained in the video - however, I personally do not like this because it reduces the wind/depower range of the kite) and/or 4) connect to an more outer node. Note that it should be a routine maintenance to check the line length after a longer session/a kite weekend etc...

By far the best kite tutorials on TH-cam. Keep it up guys
Love your videos- production quality is spot on.
Imensely useful. Got a new kite that backstalls more often and is "tricky" to fly. Just learned how to deal with the issue. Tx!
For anyone that needs it, we will release a video about checking your lines next weekend.
This tutorial shows how to check, and correct, your line lengths -> th-cam.com/video/IA5Z9tsdR7I/w-d-xo.html
Just awesome, so useful for so many Kitesurfers, great job yet again.
Another brilliant video for those new to the sport.
Thanks.
Seems counterintuitive to 'depower' the kite in low wind but here it is. Thanks for this.
Instructional's like this are great! Thanks.
Thanks for your Video's, they are Gratefull for learning to do this Sport.
The guys face is priceless. I've been there. It's the oh crap what's my kite doing look
Great explanation. Thanks for sharing
You're welcome.
Thank you for your videos

Спасибо за урок и субтитры.
thx a lot! very helpfull! My kite backstalls when i unhook
Idea, do a frontstall video as well?
What is it for?
For landing or what?

Don't confus people about stretching lines. Front lines don't stretch but back lines shrinks and back stalling is cause by too short back lines.
