  • Today it is all about painting soft and hard edges in watercolor. How the different edge treatments make your painting so much more interesting to look at. I'm also sharing how to use magazine images as inspiration when you want to create and don't know what to use. Here's how I use the inspiration, paint it then take what I learned and create a new piece of art work in my own style. It is a great example of the Art of Practice.

I love the way your natural soft colors highlight beauty . You helped me to see how my love for gardening and painting work together . It helped me to see my connection. It is the calm relaxation I feel in your work with narration and when I am on my deck enjoying my gardens ... Even its beautiful flowers as they soften and begin to fade.
You have such a beautiful gift and share it! How very, very special you are!

I have been trying out what to do with all of the ephemera I've collected and this seemed like the perfect answer. Glad you were inspired by the idea!

Another insightful video, Kelly. :) I was just eyeing my wooden spool with wide, silk ribbon around it and my embriodery scissory sticking out the top and thinking it would be nice to paint that. You have me noticing all my tiny treasures! I love following along with your videos.

Great lesson on edges but also it helped me understand for the first time that I am really creating shadows of the area that is touched under the object, not shadowing the object touching. Duh!

That is a great awakening Patti. Now that you understand that it is a game changer for your shadows.
