    I'm here because I just pre-ordered the 3rd book yesterday in the special edition. I've never bought one a special edition book with sprayed edges so I'm excited haha. But I bought the first 2 at walmart with plain edges. So I'm definitely going to be doing this! And to other books as well!

    I saw a video of a bookbinder on TH-cam putting talc on the edges so they wouldn’t stick after painting them. He would kinda fan the book a bit and apply the powder with the brush.

    Thank you so so so much for making this in-depth tutorial! Everyone else gatekeeps how they make their stencils and do the sprayed edges, so this was much appreciated!! Do you think for more intricate stencils that you would need to use transfer tape to apply the stencil onto the book edges?

    • @BTSCoBookClub
      @BTSCoBookClub  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you!! Yeah you probably would need to use a transfer tape. My concern for more intricate stencils would be them not sticking down well enough all the way around causing the spray paint to get under and distorting the design. Transfer tape may keep this from happening but in general, nothing adhesive likes to stick to book pages very well.

While I'm willing to pay for someone else putting in the time and effort I think some of the pricing is too high (plus shipping on top of that) and in the long run it would be less expensive for me to learn how to do it myself. I waited until the pages were no longer tacky to the touch

      I just finished and it turned out amazing! I didn’t press in one of the stickers enough so it leaked a bit of paint on application but other than that it turned out perfect! Thank you for the tutorial, I couldn’t have don’t it without it 💕

      @WolfieXPlays That has happened to me on some of the other ones I did so I realized I definitely need to be better about pressing them down hard haha. I'm so glad it turned out well!

    Hi! I wanted to ask you what size you printed the dragons as? For your stencils?

    • @BTSCoBookClub
      @BTSCoBookClub  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I measured the thickness of the book first, and then when picking the size for the stencil, I left about 1/4 inch on both sides so it wouldn't touch the edges. The exact size will be personal preference, you just want it smaller than the thickness of the book pages when pressed shut

    This looks so good!! How big/wide did you make your dragons to cut them out?

    • @BTSCoBookClub
      @BTSCoBookClub  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't remember exactly, but I measured the width of the book pages when book is shut, then gave myself a 1/4 inch on either side. I think the book is about 1 1/2 inches so it would be about 1 inch in width for the dragons

    What if your book already has black pages and you want to add the dragons?

      Instead of using the inside of the stencil, you'd use the outside so that the dragons are cut out

    How badly does the spraypaint flake/rub off while the book is being handled?

      @PenumbraMineMMWard I have not had any flaking with handling the book but I have not read the physical book since spraying the edges.

    They only had the plain version of the first book in the book store but when I bought the second book, it was only available with the painted edges (who look absolutely gorgeous btw) and now I‘m sad that the first one is just plain 🥲 But I don’t want to buy the same book again only for the edges so I am thinking about painting them myself, I‘m just a bit scared to ruin it😅
