To anyone wondering : the woman at the beginning is a representation of Marie-Antoinette beheaded (she was queen of France during Louis XVI’s reign and she was executed during the French Revolution). The building is the “conciergerie de Paris” in which she was imprisoned before her execution. She sings : “it’ll be all right, the aristocrats to the post lamp; it’ll be all right, the aristocrats we will hung them!” which is a pre-revolutionary song sung by the people of Paris. The boat at the end is the emblem of Paris. At the very beginning of the video you can also see a remake of the very famous painting “La liberté guidant le peuple” (Liberty Leading the People) by Delacroix. I hope it helps understanding how great this part of the show is!

The people involved in the ceremony’s organisation really said a big “fuck you” to elites and politicians attending this ceremony and while this doesn't change anything in reality, I’m still unbelievably proud of our French artists. I’m glad we were able to share parts of our culture and history.
