    Wow a real working shop video, not the usual influencer that doesn’t actually make a product. I can relate with the scraps, hardwood would be saved and used for the fireplace.

    Your woodworking and design skills are impressive and the fact that your videos aren't watered down with a bunch of unnecessary dialogue have made me a fan since I first found your MFTC video several years ago. Bravo Mr Wilmots and keep up the great work.

    Fun video with some great ideas on improving workflow to deal with waste.
    As a potential K700 owner I enjoyed seeing the slider in action.
    But you need plenty of space - and your workshop dimensions are impressive.

    All looks very impressive my outfeed table doubles as my main work bench due to space when using for large panels it's a must to have, I don't use the volume of timber as you do so my need for scrap collection is usually just my log burner but I like your organisation

    • @TimothyWilmots
      @TimothyWilmots  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When it's full you need a forklift to get it out, but with a bag you wouldn't need to empty the bin entirely before being able to lift the bag out. I didn't use a bag on my first saw and I would just empty the top of the bin out of lazyness. So it was constantly full.

    Hello Timothy, I'm looking at buying this same model K700S sliding saw and was wondering if you could tell me the width of that shop space its sitting in from wall to wall. this would be in the direction the sliding table moves. Would much appreciate this, Thank you!

    • @tomruth9487
      @tomruth9487 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just bought a used K700s and it takes a lot of room. The information you want is in the saw manual. I would talk to a Felder sales person. I'm going to have to remove some support posts from my shop to make room.

      @@tundrawhisperer4821 I hadn't thought of doing that, but you're right, it would make a good video. The parts I just ordered are on backorder so it will be a few weeks. Anyway I can let you know when I have it set up. Other videos you might watch are. ExtremeWoodworker especially his " Ripping using the fritz and franz jig." I think this is a must for sliding table owners that want to use their saws for more than panel processing.

      @tundrawhisperer4821 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tomruth9487 I would be very interested in seeing how you progress with this set up. I’m still in the market for one myself. I’ve watch all of Extreme Woodworker’s videos. His is a “dream” saw set up for sure! I process a ton of sheet goods, and also mill miles of my own face frame from rough stock. So I need a saw that can perform both capabilities for sure. I’d like to take the three stations I have in my shop, that I use to process sheet goods, and combine them into one good quality sliding table saw. I’m considering driving down to Felder in California to get a better look at them in person.

    • @tomruth9487
      @tomruth9487 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tundrawhisperer4821 I'm keeping my old table saw and going to leave a rip blade on it for lumber and face frames etc. The Felder certainly will rip and it's great for straightlining lumber, or anything, but I get tired of changing the blade and taking off the scoring blade etc. Not sure if you have the room to keep two saws, I don't really have room, but I'm going to make room anyway and see if it works out. I did shorten the capacity (left to right) of my fence so it takes up less space however. I'm basically making the old table saw compact as possible as lumber is usually not wider than 16" max.

    • @TimothyWilmots

      I have the shorter rip fence, but the wide 1500mm table.

    • @tundrawhisperer4821
      @tundrawhisperer4821 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Timothy Wilmots thank you. Do you find that with the ability to use the slider to rip things too, having the 31” capacity is probably plenty then? Do you know how much room the slide uses up during a full motion sliding from one end to the other?

    • @TimothyWilmots
      @TimothyWilmots  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tundrawhisperer4821 I don't really have a problem with the length of the rip fence, it works for every type of cuts but you have to adjust it's position.
      For the space it takes, you need to add the length of the slider in front and behind the blade, plus maybe 20cm. You also need to take into account that you need at least 1m of walking space front and back. So a 3m slider would take about 6020cm + 2m of free space.

    • @tundrawhisperer4821
      @tundrawhisperer4821 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Timothy Wilmots that’s very good to know, thank you. And which slider length is yours, do you have the 9’ XRoll? Do you use metric in your everyday woodworking? Or can these have imperial scales on them too? Do you have any of the digital options built into yours? Thanks again.

    Salut Timothy,
    Je pense voir une perceuse à colonne Optimum en arrière plan. Quel modèle utilises-tu ? Et quelle puissance minimale conseillerais-tu pour de la menuiserie uniquement (pas spécialement de besoin pour le métal).
    Merci. Bonne continuation avec tes vidéos !

    • @TimothyWilmots
      @TimothyWilmots  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bonjour Aurélien,
      C'est une Quantum B16 (identique à Optimum je crois) d'occasion.
      Il y à un peu de jeu sur les roulements mais sinon elle me convient. La courroie peut patiner quand on force trop mais ça permet de ne pas bruler les mèches. Pour le bois on peut être moins exigeant, j'en ai une autre pour le métal, le même type de machine mais la il faudrait plus de puissance idéalement.

    • @aRndBelgianGuy

    Hey Timothy, I'm looking at buying a Felder KF 700 S Professional. I see that you didn't get the digital scales with your saw nor did you get the precision mitre index system. Was that on purpose or did you want the saw the way it is in the video? If you had to buy it again, would you upgrade or buy the same? • @TimothyWilmots
      @TimothyWilmots  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Practically never, but when I take wood from the bags to burn, then I lay aside anything that isn't solid wood, including plywood. And bring those to a recycling center. I don't burn anything with glue, paint or a coating. It smells like toxic fumes in my shop then.

    • @TimothyWilmots
      @TimothyWilmots  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope, those are what we call "big bags" it's easy to get used ones from farmers or construction companies. Materials or feed often are delivered in these and in case of animal feed they can't be reused so they give them away.

      What you see is mostly sapwood from oak, the light colored edge near the bark. Or the core of the trees, you can't use that in furniture so you have to cut it out.

    • @Norwegianwoodworker
