Hans being a bad guy absolutely shocked me. Love at first sight and a duet are typical happy ever after Disney tropes. He also had the best reveal with the line "oh Anna, if only there was someone out there who loved you"
"Love is an open door" is a very nice villain song and also very unusual. In a way, more scary than Be Prepared or Hellfire. Hans sings a happy love song at first glance... but if you know what's coming, every line in "love is an open door" takes on the dark meaning of exploitation of a vulnerable person. Love as a door opener for those who want to hurt you... For me, that hits harder than the other villain songs.
Yeah, and this is how I ended up hating Hans.
I not only didn't see it coming... it made no sense to me.
There were many moments where Hans didn't have to "keep up his act", as it turns out, but he kept it going even when there was no one around he needed to convince.
It's like how in one movie, the bad guy had a dream of the movie's villain killing his wife, when HE is revealed to be the villain... so it makes no sense.
Hans is the same to me, a villain who has moments that get completely contradicted by his villain reveal because those moments prior don't connect at all
@@red_calla_lily oh for sure! It seems like such a cute song at first glance. But the rug gets pulled out from under us as we listen closer. Crazy
Not to mention how he was taking care of the townsfolk, handing out blankets and everything. He's just that good at playing Prince Charming.
Plus we're so used to Disney villains just immediately looking "bad." Even "handsome" Gaston was shown to be pompous and self-centered. King Candy you could at least suspect from his behavior that he was bad news, especially with how immediately antagonistic he was towards Vanellope. With Hans they REALLY hid his true colors.
I really loved "Onward", and even though Ian didn't get to see his dad, he gave the opportunity to Barley. Their brotherly bond was the highlight of the movie for me.

Lotso surprised me way more than Stinky Pete. They set up Lotso to have the typical changing of his ways and the confusion on his face really sold me. It also led to a moment that makes me cry every time, when they all said goodbye to each other
The reveal of COCO of Hector is actually Miguel's ancestor and Ernesto is not a good guy surprised me. Also finding out Te-Ka was Te-Fieti from Moana was shocking too.
When I first watched Coco, I thought Ernesto de la Cruz was his great-great-grandfather, but I also thought Hector was also part of Miguel's family.

I’ll never forget seeing frozen the first time. When Hans goes to kiss Anna, I was thinking “ok, we know how this goes: it doesn’t work. Anna realizes it’s Kristof. Hans accepts it, maybe (probably?) gets together with Elsa, and everyone lives happily ever afte…..”
Hans “oh. If only there was someone who actually loved you.”
Me: …………what? :O
We watch this in the theaters we heard the entire movie theater gasps at that moment all at the same time.

It was a shock to me as well. Frozen did that twist so well.

Runners-up for me are the reveals of the professor as the villain in Big hero 6, the lamb as the villain in Zootopia and King Candy is Turbo in Wreck it Ralph
King Candy was actually Turbo in Wreck-It Ralph is still one of my favorite twist villains even if it was a little predictable since they're both voiced by Alan Tudyk

Everybody loves a good twist, even a shocking one, in fact it's twists like these that made the plots of these particular animated films a lot more interesting at least in my opinion.

I would love to see top 10 moments in "The Prince of Egypt", especially when it was mentioned in many rankings.
The one from Meet the Robinssons is so amazing (so unexpected but PERFECT) that it's the favorite on my list. Meet the Robinssons is one of the few Disney movies that I would genuinly call underrated.
You should've had some honorable mentions. For instance, how about Dawn Bellwether being the mastermind behind the Nighthowler operations in Zootopia?

Hans revealing himself as a villain still remains as my #1 favorite plot twist in animated movies, especially in Disney ones.
The funniest part is donkey saying : "oh my god you ate the Princess "
Ian and Barley had such a sweet relationship. They have perfect chemistry with each other, even if it wasn't always the best, and the ending was very heartwarming
So is COCO just not a movie bc the Reveal in that movie is one of the best I’ve seen in any movie genre
Princess Fiona from ‘Shrek’ is one of my most favorite fictional female crushes. 💚
When I saw Shrek for the first time, I did not know of Fiona's curse. But when she over reacts to the sunset for the second time, I began to wonder of anything suspicious, and when Donkey saw Fiona in her ogre form I was really surprised.
Honestly in The Bad Guys when Mr. Snake was working with Marmalade but only to destroy the Meteorite when I saw the Meteorite explode that was more shocking than Hans as the villain honestly

It feels like surprise villain cliche is so overused. Usually when it’s done right like Coco. I love villains in movies, but you have to make them complex and interesting in the whole movie, and not have a twist. Plus I like to have movies with no villains, maybe that’s just me. I know The Sixth Sense movie started with the whole twist. Still just had to point that out.
All these reveal were very shocking to me and I will never get over that Hans betrayal will be the most shocking reveal but I also was surprised to find out that Foinna was cursed to become an ogre
8:35 Number 4: Wallace The Were-Rabbit is my favorite plot twist because The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit is my favorite movie, especially the part when Wallace transforms into the Were-Rabbit!!

Where's Coco? The moment when Hector is revealed to be Miguel's great great grandfather and Ernesto the villain who poisoned Hector and took credit for all his songs was a definite plot twist that no one saw coming
4:58 I'm surprised this ranked so low, the fact that you never know what happened to the Donkey-fied kids is traumatizing. And it should have been number one.
I have a feeling the upcoming live action remake is going to fix that by having Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket going back to rescue the “stupid little boys” turned into donkeys and defeat the Coachman.

Hans revealing his true self was very shocking to me when I first watched Frozen in theaters. When he said that line, I was like "What? But we trusted you"

160: Finally, a WatchMojo list of movies that I’ve seen all of them. For other WatchMojo lists including TV shows, not so much. It’s like 8 out of 10, 3 out of 10, 13 or 6 out of 20, and 50 out of 100
If you watch closely at Hans’ gestures during Love is an open door you can actually tell Hans’ motives.
Where's the evil lamb in Zootopia?
That's the part in "Frozen" that kicked me in the gut, when Hans says "if only someone loved you". I never ever thought I'd hear a Disney character say something THAT cruel to a person. I don't care how deluded Anna is, that sort of betrayal is bad when it happens to you as an adult. A kid being aware of it is just wrong. I HOPE the production staff gasped hearing the line the first time.

It was really tough, but these 3 movies take it. I was going to put Brother Bear in the top 3 because of the reveal of killing mama bear which was explained later on, but the problem is, I didn't watch the movie enough to understand the story compare to the rest of these movies, so I apologize for that. I definitely put Frozen at number 1 because the writers completely flip script on turning a prince evil, definitely most shocking twist in all animated movies and possibly of all time!

I thought the reveal of assistant Mayor Dawn Bellwether as the villain in Zootopia was shocking. Nice at first, overworked by her boss and supportive to Judy Hopps to be the best little rabbit officer in the ZPD, but also hiring guys to steal nighthowlers to make ammo that causes predators to become savage and blamed the mayor for it.

Man there was something about watching a Disney movie as a Kid. I remember when Brother bear released in theaters and My Middle school and I went to watch it. That moment when koda was Talking about the “Hunter” slaying his mom I had Both my hands on my face while saying to myself “Oh my God Koda why you have to bring that up…your friend is the Guy who Killed her Bro…” and heck, Even when he Brought that Up to him eventually, He did the right thing
Heck even few years later when I went to Disneyworld to see Kenai and Koda(I understand cast members played them. I still decided to play along. Plus it was a Rare Appearance) I told Kenai “I understand when you had to tell Koda about what Happened it was very hard But you did the right thing. You know, You and Koda remind me of myself and my Younger brother. Like you I love him but if something ever happens to him I get way too Concerned just like you when Koda was talking about you Hunting his mom”

I think that Hans being evil is the most Shocking reveal in animated movie also you should give a honorary mention to Dawn Bellewether being behind the Night-howlers as it gives a twist to the Wolf in Sleeps clothing.

Frozen shocked me more than anything. I never saw the ending coming and then the true love being the sisters ❤ No wonder this movie was big.

My Favorite Best Disney movies with awesome villains
The top Shocking Reveals in Animated Movies that I recognize are Ros is #1 from Monsters Inc., the story of Koda's mom's passing from Brother Bear, Stinky Pete the Prospectors motives from Toy Story 2, Fiona's Course from Shrek and Evil Hanns from Frozen
I am shocked that the Turbo reveal isn't on this list.
What about Raphael being the night watcher in the 2007 tmnt movie

No way, TURBO takes the absolute cake. I was never sold on Hans so his turn wasn't surprising at all to me. But KING CANDY?? No one saw that coming!
