- Through a series of bulk buys and flips, we attempt to turn a $50 purchase into enough money to buy Rivendell. Come with us on our journey!
And check out the time lapse build of Rivendell here! • Lego Rivendell 10316 T...
I love everything about this. What a fun journey to go on with some nice scores along with way while also hitting your goal and your son gets to join in too. Wins all around!
Thank you! We had a great time doing it and I’m so glad you liked the video!
ayyy brickitect fun running into u here i love ur videos
@brickitect Shame on me! I just realized you are Clark's Dad! At least that's how my son refers to you since he watching his videos :) I remember watching one of your videos with my son, saw your lego stash in the background and thought "awesome!" Thanks for watching!
this is a brilliant idea! this is lego investment at its finest
Thank you!
Looks like a super fun process! I wish I had the skill and confidence to flip legos like that. Definitely looking forward to you future videos like this!
Thanks! More to come! It just take patience and the willingness to check selling prices before buying to know if it’s a good deal.
Such a great set. This is the only set i have ever picked up day 1 and i do not regret it. Probably my favorite set of all time
Agreed! Wish I got it on day 1 for the GWP that came with it, but it is easily my favorite set
Such a great video! Guess I know my plans for the next few months to get Rivendell! 😎
Thanks! It was a fun journey! Just finished my 3rd flipping legos project and got the Simpsons house 😄
This video inspired me to do this but instead of Rivendell it’s the temple of the golden idol from Indiana jones. A few weeks ago I got a LEGO bin of LEGO for $30 and the vermilion invader for $5, thanks for the inspiration
My pleasure! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
I have this set in my cuboard, but I don't have the space to build it. The square footage to store lego probably costs alot more than any set itself these days.
Haha! I hear you! I didn't realize how big it was until it was built. It didn't fit on any bookshelf that I display my other legos, so I had to clear off the top of a dresser for it
I have a few of those. And are allready peeved that i cannot find room for the upcoming modular. Because it is big, (i love the big sets though) but to have it displayed takes something in a home, because they need space) … i have legosets in boxes store under bed, in closets. In storage room and well even some under the couch. Not a cubic centimeter is unused when it comes to Lego storage.
It's a real problem lol. Don't tell my son, but I use the crawl space in our basement to hid our extras. If he knew, he'd be crawling back there to unbox everything!
I’m going through my current collection to do this exact same thing! Sorting everything for easy building has been painstaking, but will be worth it! Good work on this video!
Thanks! Sorting is just the worst, but that's why you can get some of these good deals. I still have tubs of unsorted legos that I just chip away at and someday I'll have a perfectly organized house...but probably not lol
Wow! This is great! I love the Lego Rivendell set and this is a great way to get it!!😮
Thank you! It is totally my favorite set ever and knowing I didn’t just throw it on the credit card makes it even more satisfying 😁
@@lego-my-bricks Haha yeah!
I keep seeing you popping up man
@@RichardMontgomeryYT that’s super awesome!!! 😁
@@RichardMontgomeryYT lol that’s probably because we have the same interests. Lego and lotr/ castle.
At least once youtube recommended me something so much amazing and heartwarming!
Hooray! There is way too much unhappy in the world, so I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for subscribing and stay tuned for more videos!
great vid!
Thank you very much!
Bro this is one of the greatest successes stories I've ever heard. So motivating. So happy
Thanks!!! We’ve done it again and are midway through a third journey now 😁
I was expecting a big trading video, but this was cool as well.
this is my absolute favorite set. Its truly amazing
Me too! The detail, size, minifigs, everything about it is just perfect
Man, this looks so cool! I should try this
Go for it!
I agree there is alot of good deals off of Facebook market place. I also think it depends where you live and how much sellers know about Lego. Profit margins is the key and how fast you are able to move them. When you sold the sets, was it off of Facebook or Ebay.. obviously with Facebook there are no fees. Good hobby and fun.
Yes, luckily I live in a heavily populated area so there are lots of buyers and sellers for everything I use Facebook at the moment
Love this vid
Thanks!
I was able to score a used one of these for about $400 maybe cheaper. Was 100% complete. It now sits proudly on my shelf
Nice! I had the opportunity to scoop one up for 425 but passed because they weren’t sure about all the pieces and I think I would go crazy if it was a unique and necessary one!
Happy building
Thanks!
My best flip was a $20 tub that I bought and flipped for $941 as of now. over 180 Minifigs and some small builds. Still have builds and loose bulk I need to sell.
That is amazing! Great job!
awesome vid, i have been collecting like crazy again lately and am going to start trying to resell some stuff i dont keep on bricklink and locally cause i have so many pieces and random stuff. I have quite a few set hauls i can easily make 2x my money. Any tips on sorting random bulk lego though?
Thanks and good luck to you on your stuff! I would say sorting by type (ie 2x4, 1x1) is easier to find stuff later than sorting by color. But, to be honest, organizing and sorting isn’t really my thing so it’s a bit of a struggle lol
I might have to start flipping lego
It's not a snap, but if you have patience, good deals come around and you can pounce on them. Good luck!
The thing is, you didn't do nothing. You are being paid for your service, your service being sorting through these lots of mass lego and parting out the sets
true, might have taken as much time as earning money for it in a regular job, still great nontheless
Would you watch a video about working a regular job, then buying it with that money? I thought this way was a little more fun and keeps my lego money with legos
I thought he was gonna buy the bricks and build the set that way lmfao
If little dude likes marvel, I think he will change his mind when black friday arrives 😉
Oddly, he's not a big superhero guy, but that Avengers tower does look epic!
Wish I had the opportunity to do this locally, but it's rare to find profit in resales. So I coughed up the 500 Euro instead. Got a raise and I treated myself. Got a bunch of friends over and we built it together, it was totally worth it.
Dude, that sounds just as fun!
I do a combination of this and selling the older sets I already have but don't want to keep.
A great way to make a little money while building on your lego collection
Awesome video!
Thanks!!!
Omg I need to do this! I also was thinking of trying to sell some sets/parts.. I found a bulk lot a while ago & am slowly but surely trudging thru & feeling worse for the original owner by the day lol…. Would you think about doing a video on how you manage to find these lots & where & how to sell them so easily? I’m going to assume fb marketplace- but again, any info would be cool. Definitely subbed & can’t wait to see more! Congrats on Rivendell! That was one I couldn’t pass up…. Aaaaaaaaand I’m glad I gave it- I forgot the whole “there needs to be room to build and display it” part however lol. The pain I’m in with some of my sets I can’t wait to tear into- yet keeping them sealed for now in case I fall and hit my head super badly & end up not wanting them anymore lol. Keep up the great work! I’m in the “crap everything I want is retiring” situation, so anything I can turn into cash is a deal haha. I love finding bulk lots though, if you don’t get any buyers- you either can wait and sell later or you just landed yourself some bulk lego lol
Haha!!! Awesome! Love the bulk lots when we can find a good deal. Yes, some sellers are really just looking to get rid of it (legos take up so much space!) so you can find deals if patient. I will certainly make a video on how I find, but and sell! Thanks for the sub!
Brilliant
Thank you!
I have two, one unopened for investment and one for building 😄
Very nice! I imagine this will be a nice profit once they retire it
This is so cool I wish I could do this.
You totally can!!!!
Now that’s a video!
Thank you!!!
Great vid
Thanks!
Great concept! Needs a thumbnail overhaul and this will be amazing!
Thanks! I know thumbnails aren’t my forte. Wanna be my thumbnail guy? 😂
@@lego-my-bricks sure lol. They fun to make (not the best at it obviously)
@@LuckyLego if you’re bored and want to make a new one for this video, shoot it my way and I’ll kick you a couple bucks 😄
@@lego-my-bricks u got discord?
@@LuckyLego I do not. Too old and uncool lol
nice vid
Thank you!
How did you find those deals?!? I see people selling partial minifigures for the amount you got full sets!
Lucky, I guess! I think I had more luck with but/sell group on Facebook in my area than on the actual marketplace
@@lego-my-bricks Cool! I will try that - I have only looked on eBay, Mercari, and Marketplace, Half Priced Books
Generally, I’m impressed! I’ve never had that kind of luck buying, such that flipping would make any sense. But I’ve also not tried very hard.
And if I found a bunch of good-condition Bionicle for $7, I’d just keep them!
But at 3:37 either I lost the thread or your accounting is a bit off. You said you bought a lot for $400, intending to keep about $300 worth of it and resell the rest. But it turned out not as advertised and you got $200 refunded. Then you sold some of the sets for $162.
You paid $200 and sold them for $162. That -$38 in profit.
Even if you just count the sales against the intended investment of $100, that’s $62 in profit.
Yes, you also got a bunch of [incomplete] sets for yourself, but if you hadn’t had the $200-$400 to spend in the first place, you wouldn’t’ve been able to get those sets to then resell them. So you balance sheet isn’t “spent $100, was refunded $200, sold for $162”; it’s “spent $400, was refunded $200, sold for $162”. The Lego you kept for yourself doesn’t actually decrease what you had to spend to get that lot.
I look at it this way: I allocated $100 for flipping legos and $300 for keeping legos. When I only had to pay $200 instead of $400, I thought it it as paying the whole $200 instead of $300 for the legos I kept (discount of $100!) and the flipping legos were nothing. I never intended on spending $200 on the sets I was going to flip, only $100. I suppose I could have rationalized it as getting a 50% discount, thus I should have spent $150 on keeping legos and $50 on flipping legos. Perhaps that is what I should have done in hindsight.
how do you only have 200 subs
Not sure if that’s an insult or compliment lol. Most of my videos are just Timelapse builds and don’t get many views. Starting to branch out into other stuff like this video so hopefully my numbers grow. Thanks for watching!
@@lego-my-bricks compliment lol you're underrated
@@onewaytochrist thank you! I really appreciate it!
Mega Hulkbuster for $7?!
I know! She was just trying to get rid of everything. Got another car lot easily worth 50-100 but gave that one to little dude.
where do you find / sell the sets? think about trying this for the mario set or the bugatti also thought i would see a lot more than 31 subs tbh lol
Sweet! I got up to 31 subs :) I just do this for fun (plus I own a videography company, so making videos isn't a huge stretch for me). I mainly find them on Facebook marketplace I my area. I'm in a few buy/sell groups and when legos pop up, they are usually a great deal from someone who is just looking to free up space in their home after their kids are done with legos. Silly kids! Just gotta be patient and wait for the deals to emerge
This is fantastic, but unfortunately where I'm from the amount of second hand lego that you've managed to buy for 50 dollar would easily amount to 243 bucks to begin with. It's very hard to score a bargain here.
That's such a bummer! Opportunities don't come along every single day around here, but definitely enough to do these videos
Why didn't you buy the Rivendell set second-hand ? Would have saved you maybe a hundred bucks. It's not like you have a problem with building second-hand sets apparently 🙂
Thought definitely crossed my mind! 2 reasons. 1) I never found a good used Rivendell set for sale once money was raised and 2) sometimes it's nice to get it new and know that everything is there without worry. Stay tuned for our next big buy as I might use your method for that one...
@@lego-my-bricks Yeah that makes sense, especially your 2nd point 🙂I'll stay tuned alright, I just clicked the subscription button ;-)
@@sebvdk6254 thanks! I appreciate the subscription! Hope to have the next big one out soon. Hopefully before the end of the year 🤞
I need to do this I really want The Lion Knights Castle thought worried of being scammed trought buying on fb marketplace any tips? You mentioned u used paypal but I am from EU and not sure if that work cuz nobody would use paypal in my country probably due to fees.
Scams are a real problem! I’ve been scammed a few times so I always use a protected payment method, even with the fees, unless it is cash in person. Go for it!
Where did you buy and sell on
Mostly Facebook marketplace. I also join plenty of buy and sell groups around me in case they don’t also post on marketplace
How much time did you spend sorting, buying, and selling the Lego?
It's a bit hard to tell because I don't have time to sit down and spend consecutive hours on legos due to a busy life! I do 15 minutes here, 30 minutes there and it all adds up. I'll browse Facebook marketplace a couple times a day looking for deals, then when it's time to sell, I just make my posts and wait. Because it's a hobby, I have no timelines or hurry and if a set takes months to sell, so be it!
5:38 You accidentally mentioned Dreamzzz. Lol.
Haha
grats "You have to file an income tax return if your net earnings from self-employment were $400 or more"
Thanks for the heads up!
So how long did this journey take to reach your goal?
About 4 months. There was a stretch where I just couldn't find any good deals that slowed me down.
Tbh a lot of the lego i have i paid for by using profit money from buying and selling lego like this
Nice! Yeah, I'm slowly starting to run out of space, so being more selective on which sets to hold on to and which ones to pass on. As a wise man once said, "you cannot own ALL the legos."
@@lego-my-bricks i actually haven’t been looking at sets, only the minifigure lots, so maybe i gotta start that too 😅
How can I do this?
Check out Facebook marketplace or Craigslist for sale lots. I’m going to be posting a video in the next week or two about my process
I did the opposite and bought Rivendell used from someone else for $375 flat (after bargaining) 😂
Your address is visible around 4:17 mark you can visibly see the mailing address
commented this on a recent video as well so you would hopefully see it
Be safe and protect yo bricks!! (and family of course, a lot of crazies out there)

Sounds like a lot of work for $600 but when it was fun to do it was worth it I guess.
Yep, more of a challenge doing something we like with that as a reward at the end
little dude call his dad dude 💀💀💀
Lol it’s all good. At least he doesn’t ever call me by my first name
$40 tax😂. No tax in uk. Otherwise I wouldn't pay for these things
That sounds amazing!!!! I would have a bigger problem if they were even cheaper lol
@@lego-my-bricks 😅
You should’ve sold some for a higher price, still good job on the profit and video
Thanks! Certainly could have maximized it a little more but there is also a time element to it and moving sets for any profits and moving on to the next set was key
just get a job
Thanks for the suggestion! As a matter of fact, I own my own business and do quite well. This is just a hobby that I spend 15 minute here and there on, especially with my son who also loves legos. But, thanks for your contribution to the conversation!!!!
Man if this video triggers you then I’d hate to see what happens when something an actual problem happens in your life. 😂
