    We never know at the outset of our journey with you where you will take us. What we do know is that in the end there will be a unique and wonderful piece of art, where before was simply paint and canvas. Thank you Karen, for posting another marvellous feast for the eyes, a wonderful piece.

    Another fantastic piece, Karen. I watched it over and over and still don't know how you achieved the crackling effects on the right side of the work. I am constantly amazed by the depth and texture you create. Thanks again for posting your work.

      @karenhalepaintings  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching, Char. I thought I had filmed the crackle part but guess I didn't. It's plastic wrap while the paint is still wet. Give it a try.

    Merry Christmas Karen. Thank you again and again for bringing so much joy into my life by sharing. Each of your videos are a marvelous GIFT all year round and I am so very grateful to you for them. Writing "thank you" seems so insignificant compared to the sense of excitement the fills my heart when you post a painting demo. YES YES YES - you are the repeated source of an "ELEVATED SPIRIT"!!! The beauty of your painting today is what bursts forth in my heart when you share your creative gifts. Sending blessings for 2020 too!! Xj.

    Incredible! I’m starting my first large painting today (6 weeks after I was supposed to start 😬 it’s just intimidating!) I really loved watching you work (in all your videos), it’s helped me to see that layering is ok and that it’s ok if it changes as I go along!

      Abstract art is form, movement, and palette. It doesn't have to say or be anything in particular.

    Do you spray with water? My acrylic paint is heavy body and water tends to make it lift off the canvas, even when I just spray it..

    • @karenhalepaintings
      @karenhalepaintings  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do spray with water but mainly use fluid paint and don't have any trouble.

    Inquiring minds want to know..... Do you always move at light speed?

    • @karenhalepaintings
      @karenhalepaintings  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha, All the videos are at 2X speed so I can get as much content as possible without possibly putting people to sleep.

    • @karenhalepaintings
      @karenhalepaintings  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can adjust the speed by going to the settings at the lower right hand corner of the video.

    • @davedean4150
      @davedean4150 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@karenhalepaintings I was kidding about the speed Karen. One day I imagined going to a workshop and watching you constantly whizzing about five times faster than a speeding bullet. Im sure that you are probably pretty normal speed-wise. I actually I will benefit from your tip because I miss the routine stuff you do, like cleaning a brush or swapping to something else. As a beginner I am intimidated by not knowing small details and by your apparent freedom of imagination, which as an old pilot and psychologist (retired from both) I have problems with. I get too detail oriented and Im not even OCD. I think setting a time limit per painting once in a while would help. I still say you are amazing.

    • @davedean4150
      @davedean4150 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karenhalepaintings I look at a lot of videos. I find yours fascinating. I don't get sleepy at all.

    • @karenhalepaintings
      @karenhalepaintings  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davedean4150 Thanks for your comment, Dave. I don't include things like cleaning brushes etc because I figure people would prefer seeing the actual painting. Sounds like you are over thinking the process. Try listening to some music, maybe something out of your comfort zone and let the music drive the painting. Try to remember that it is only paint and canvas. If you don't like it paint over it, heaven knows how many times I've done that. You're supposed to be enjoying this not thinking you're creating the next great masterpiece. Good luck!
