It looks like you found a great spot. what side of the mountain were you on in that last spot? I'm trying to place your location from memory. I've spent quite a bit of time out there. rockhounding and I'm always looking for a a new spot.
What you're finding is Chalcedony and with some fire. Chalcedony is in the Agate family but these wont usually turn out like the fire Agates that you see ground down to the really brilliant colors of fire. I personally LOVE Chalcedony for its color and its sometimes exotic shapes. And there is tons of Chalcedony in many places so I don't feel bad about collecting a good bit of it. We lived in AZ 20 years ago and spent time out in this area and just moved back a few months ago! Can't wait to get back out there and pick up some more. Looks like yall got some great finds and had a good time!
@@BoldCanyonOutdoors we have awesome view of Superstition Mountain out our window and have been looking for some areas out this way for rockhounding. I know of the area just west of the Willow Creek trailhead for Chalcedony - but would like to find other areas in a close proximity out Highway 88, Goldfield Ghost Town and/or the general north, south or east of Apache Junction. No particular rock/mineral - anything worth collecting, pretty to look at, cut, grind, sand, polish, tumble or just add to decorate around a cactus. We have the two main rockhounding books for Arizona, but everything is still packed up from our move - although I don't recall any actual collecting spots in this general area. Seems many were nearer I-17 and to the north of Canyon Lake maybe and then towards Globe. Any pointers that you could pass along for us? Thanks!
@@landasales1 We found a spot with a TON of bright white quartz up on top of the hills west of Happy Camp Canyon Road (north of Superior), but it's not an easy trail...it's called Pucker Ridge by some...
@@BoldCanyonOutdoors rats! Our 4x4 Durango already needed a new heater core and fix leak in the AC - a month after we moved back to AZ, a dang Pack Rat got up in the engine and chewed a couple of wires!!! One we can reach but the other is gonna be hell to get to!

This was southwest of the mountain. I don’t remember exactly where…it was our first time out there so we just wandered
