Amazing angles of Shasta and the starlight, also the music choice was on point! Amazing work as always. 5:52 as it exits the tunnel, the music was very well timed. :D
Man, I love that long straight-away shot at Doris! Arrow straight tracks for miles and farmland and huge Mt. Shasta in the background. And the Phase 7 scheme looks good on the P42's. I hope they'll be around for a long time more. Thanks, Dan. 🤠👍
Yeah that is a pretty long straight stretch there! I really like this new scheme on the P42's as well. They look much better on those than the Chargers. Thanks Scotty!
Another stunner of a video. Wonderful perfect composition in many of the shots and really beautiful, professional quality overall. Love seeing the Phase 7 P-42’s on one of my favorite rides. 😊
Amtrak's northbound Cost Starlight looked beautiful as it traveled through Northern California, Dan! The Phase 7 paint scheme looks good on the P42 engine. I enjoyed looking at the scenes with Mt. Shasta in the background. Mt. Shasta makes a great background! I am looking forward to the full video that you mentioned in your narration.
Great drone shots, spectacular scenery. I grew up on the east Coast not far from the Northeast Corridor where Amtrack runs a ton of trains daily. This video shows the difference between the coasts in terms of development and population. A single track carry the major traffic up and down the west coast, the NEC has 4 tracks with some kind of train running by every 20 minutes.
Thanks Dan for arising very early to video these amazing scenes. How many times in and out of your vehicle to raise the drone and finally editing is incomprehensible to me.
As always Dan, outstanding scenery, even with the massive burned out area, and your location choice. And of course, that long distance shot of Mt Shasta, exceptional footage. Again, and thx for taking us along. Ted
That Grass Lake area shot, beauiful! I also liked the low-sun angle shot just around the 5 minute mark. Perfect choice of music for this brief segment, which left me wishing it could have continued just a bit longer. I'll be on the lookout for the longer version.
Honestly I don't know anything about Amtrak and their lines. But I have to admit that the new paint scheme looks great on the lead locomotive. The scenery is breathtaking in this area and I'm sure the view is very good from the double decker passenger cars. Can people ski on Mt. Shasta? There's so much snow on the slopes that those would be amazing ski paradises. Excellent trailer Dan, I'm certain this will be a spectacular update.
Thank you Z! Yeah I guess even I don't post too much Amtrak material. Yes a quick search shows me their is a ski park on the South side of the mountain which is directly behind it in these shots. Glad you enjoyed my friend!
Hey Dan, great backdrop to introduce the new paint job on the P42. I modelled this area in N Scale back in the 90’s, Mount Shasta was the backdrop but there’s nothing like seeing it for real. Are you still using the DJI 3 drone? I noticed it doesn’t get a mention in your recent videos. Thanks for another great clip Dan - Cheers
Thanks so much and that's neat! You're right though it is fantastic in person. Yes I use multiple drones regularly now so just took the mark out of the corner but I do regularly use the DJI Mavic 3 Pro and the DJI Air 3 as a secondary drone.
I’ve ridden this line many times. Just waking up about here just before Klamath Falls. So cool to see it like this. Thanks
I haven't done this stretch but want to someday.
Amazing angles of Shasta and the starlight, also the music choice was on point! Amazing work as always.
5:52 as it exits the tunnel, the music was very well timed. :D
Thanks so much! Haha yeah sometimes music timing works out perfectly like at the tunnel shot and I too was very pleased with that spot.

Oh ok,got it,after T18 is the border!
As always, spectacular 🙀👍🏽

Thanks so much Rick you're too kind!
Beautiful !!
This gives me strong vibes of the America By Rail series and I love it!
That's awesome!
Nice! Great shots in the sun, thanks!
Some beautiful vista's on this one and music. 🎶
Thank you Ron!
Spectacular views of the Starlight, the burned forest, Mt Shasta, a beautiful sunrise, and the southern Cascades. Thanks for the video.
Thanks!
Dang, this is awesome!!👍🏼
Reminds me of one of those shows on PBS!😊
Great work!
Well thanks so much I'm glad you think so!

Thanks so much Thomas! I got quite a few different scenes with Mt. Shasta dominating the background. It was great.

Yes major difference!
Thanks Dan for another wonderful video !
Thanks so much!
Love it
AWESOME !! Rode on this train once .!
Thanks! It's a great ride isn't it?
Another spectacular video! You do great work.
Thanks so much you're too kind!
Love the new paint scheme on the p42 !!less said about that heap of scrap behind it the better!!
Ha agreed! I am not a fan of the Chargers at all and am always happy to get a P42 in the lead these days.
Thanks Dan for arising very early to video these amazing scenes. How many times in and out of your vehicle to raise the drone and finally editing is incomprehensible to me.
Thank you Fred and yes it is a bit of a process but I love it all!
Thanks DAN again, For your awesome VIDEOS!!
Thanks so much!

Thanks so much Ted you're too kind!
Thanks Dan really enjoyed watching this and drinking my morning coffee to start my Saturday off right
Great Donald thanks so much!
Great job Dan as usual we did catch that train in Redding
Very cool! I kept an eye on the camera there before it came through here to make sure that unit was still leading.
That Grass Lake area shot, beauiful! I also liked the low-sun angle shot just around the 5 minute mark. Perfect choice of music for this brief segment, which left me wishing it could have continued just a bit longer. I'll be on the lookout for the longer version.
Thank you Daniel I'm glad you enjoyed! The long version will include many views of Mt. Shasta in it!
Best looking Genesis in the fleet.
Agreed! This scheme looks great on those.
That’s a good video and my friend was driving that train
Awesome! Thanks. Gonna share this one.
Great thanks Rich!

Thanks for a great video.
At time 00:50 the view looks very much the same as in a video with long, snake looking cargo trains.
Thank you and yes quite curvy through there like the freight trains in the other video!
Black butte puts out fun trains 4 me as NorCal railfan
This is former Southern Pacific trackage. Steven
u get like 300/300 for me cuz 4K is like awesome!
Another great video! Isn’t the Dry Canyon “trestle” actually a viaduct?
Thanks and yes you are correct.
🚂🚂👍

How did you get you get down over there at Hotlum near the Dry Canyon Tresile
There's a road that goes right to it and it's a nice road now since the trestle was repaired.
The P42s may be the future, but they do not have the presence of the Genesis locomotives, whose tall bluff front talked of motive power.
Yes I'll take a Genesis every time over a Charger.
