    I attempted to do this yesterday. no sooner had I separated them, than I screwed it up and put two strands in one hand. I lift heavy, and THIS, is one of the most difficult things I've ever attempted to do. I don't think I'll ever be able to braid my hair with it 4 ft long now. I won't get it trimmed just to braid it either.

    • @TheLonghairs
      @TheLonghairs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      It aint easy thats for sure. Practice is all you can do.

    • @cinderroxy5738
      @cinderroxy5738 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wodinn, it took me a while to get the hang of it. I braid mine as much as I can from the back and then bring it over my shoulder to finish it. When you bring it over your shoulder to the front braid under instead of over. Hope that makes sense.

    • @sfex9
      @sfex9 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wodinn yeah braiding is tiring. when my hair got too long I used to start braiding normally, then take the strands over my head towards my forehead and finish braiding towards my chin.

    • @missbridjety
      @missbridjety 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wodinn your just switch hair fronside to side same process whether over braiding or under braiding practice with a little of your hair first. but it's divided into three kinda even amounts if hair =right middle left...so start with a side piece to the middle of head and the middle goes to that side so each time you're taking turns switching a side piece to the middle and that middle piece goes where that side piece came from. so left to middle then right to middle then right to middle and left to middle repeat

      Thanks for all the tips and help. I appreciate it, my hair has gotten about 4 inches longer sense I posted this comment. I am not sure if I have the dexterity or arm stamina to braid my hair now. I'd probably have to do it in segments or something.

    I just wanted to share a quick easy tip to any of the long haired amigos out there that like to experiment with a little color, but hate trying out those damaging hair dyes from the drug store. Use tea and lemon. A little natural tip I learned on my hair journey over the past year. If you have dark hair like me and want to go for a brown/auburn color, try black tea with a splash of lemon. I use a spray bottle and leave mine in, but you don't have to if you are worried about dry hair because everyone's hair is different. You can rinse it out after about 20 minutes and condition. I went for a brown ombre, so I only sprayed half and left my roots dark. Looks really rockstar after about 3 uses. To speed up the effect, sit in the sun for about 20 minutes and let the uv rays do some work.
    If you are a lighter shade like Mr. Rubio, only use a light tea like Rosemary, Green, or lemon if you want to go blonder. Otherwise dark tea will turn you more brunetto' lol, unless that is what you are going for. Tea also reduces shedding, strengthens hair fibers, and Green tea especially promotes hair growth when applied to the scalp. All this stuff is tried n true on myself and wouldn't recommend it unless I tried it. Just wanted to share a little natural tips out there because too much of that factory made stuff ain't always good and I have used a bit myself and wish I didn't, hence me trying these natural regimes. And if you are like me where your hair is apart of your soul, you would do as much possible to protect it.

      Billy Joe Riley Do you have an opinion on black tea vs chamomile tea?

    • @benzz2006
      @benzz2006 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Black tea has a higher caffiene dosage, which can increase growth stimulation, and can leave your hair a bit softer than chamomile. Chamomile will give you a lighter effect though. I like black tea more for my hair type. But I would try them both. Spray it on damp hair for about 20 minutes and rinse and condition. Sit in the sun while its in there for extra UV lightening from the sun rays.

    I started doing this at work last week. Most of my shift is pushing grocery carts (I'm out there 6 or more hours a day) and as the weather gets colder in Wisconsin, I start wearing cold weather hats more. Normally I would just do a regular tail, but then it would just split in half, wrap around my neck and choke me. So this braid takes care ofbthat problem. Way more comfortable than having a highball underneath the hat.

    I just can't get this to work no matter how many times I try. I lose track of which strand of hair needs to get folded over or under next, and then the strands just start to blend together in my hands. The frustration level goes up really fast because after two or three failed attempts, my shoulders really start burning from holding my arms above my head for an extended period of time. You definitely make it seem easy, though!

      fucking same, I can't even get it separated into 3 fucking sections. has to be the most frustrated ive been in a while. nobody ever explains how to properly fucking divide your hair and keep it that way. they literally all gloss over the hardest part everytime.

  • @xingcat
    @xingcat 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Nicely done! I find it interesting that you section from top to bottom for the three sections...I've been doing it from side to side, but that messes up the lengths (because my hair isn't even-length).
    If you find yourself getting to the end with one section too short, you can always "steal" from the other sections as you go along. Think like a French braid, but taking the sections not from other parts of the scalp, but what you're working with.
    Always good to see your videos!

    O man I tried it and it's driving me goddamn nuts. I am autistic and it took me 17 years to tie at least Something together, Was needed, GF wanted to experiment so I was a bit more concerned holding her by her long hair and I give you one tip: they like us doing that viking thing. Real bad. I hear this a lot. Men should really pay attention to this and dont make these women beg.I am a man who knows why he pees standing up. Anyway. Not my point.. Nordic braid is more than a fashion statement. I find this instruction video awesome and you sir, your hair looks great. Great presentation, no acting the real deal. Seriously man I like woman playing with my hair and they want to that and they should just to keep things in balance. I had my hair braid in so many awesome ways you cannot imagine. Try 2 (not in the open). Greetings from the Netherlands. I am Edwin.

    Finger placement is the hardest part! How to, grab a section, And how to keep keep it separate!? I can do one on each side all day long but one braid, behind my head is impossible. Been trying for 25 years (I'm 41).🤷‍♂️

  • @lordofthecuttingmoon
    @lordofthecuttingmoon 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This is something I should have looked up WAY long ago. Mostly because one, it's stylish. Two, I'm going for having and enjoying the long hair for a nice, long time [something my family's stylist isn't too happy with]. And three, I am curious to see if I can get it down to the waist. Like a river of copper weave that can be used as both surprise weapon and distraction.
    And for all you Game of Thrones viewers/readers out there, reason four: I will only cut my hair when I have been truly defeated. By society or by weather, not sure yet. But when I do, it will be because I must.

  • @mopeooo
    @mopeooo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    this is all good news but perhaps you might try an even easier style called the rope twist. Made popular by the Vikings , I have made it one step easier and all you need is some masking tape and an electric screw gun. First- get two halves, like you are doing pig tails. Next- get all the hair going the same direction and gather it at the end. Now twirl it in a clockwise direction around your finger, then slide out your finger and pinch the end and put some masking tape around it to hold it . Do the same to the other side but counterclockwise and tape it. Now tape both together side by side. Take the two that are now taped together and chuck them up in the screw gun. Now with a tap on the trigger, tada.....you got the Viking twist.. Its why i have a screw gun and a blow dryer in my bathroom, works on beards too

    Just tried this out.
    Feels good. I've still got some hair hanging down though. I prefer to have some hair loose. I like braids but my girl doesn't, so I leave some down for her.

    Does the braid you did stay all day? Like if your playing sports and moving around a lot?

    • @Jeudaos
      @Jeudaos 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From my own personal experience. The only thing that REALLY pulls your hair out of the braid is sleeping, or some situation like it. So if your sport is heavy contact or something where you are on the ground A LOT. It could probably start working your hair out. This is only my experience, I have fairly fine hair.
