Dear Tom & Renee glad you enjoyed visiting Qaqortoq Arctic town in Southern Greenland with Norse Viking history. and the Greenlandic Inuit people. The population is about 3200 residents in Qaqortoq. Climbing... climbing... climbing ....the wooden stairs with a friendly Arctic dog travelling over a waterfall and varieties of wild flowers, to reach the highest plateau and viewing many aspects of Greenlandic weather, along the way, fog, mist, to clearest sky and very fresh clean air. Then enjoying the Panorama views of the brightly coloured houses of Arctic Greenland stretched across the high hills, viewing the fishing boats, village and fjord harbour Then visiting the local Qaqortoq church, which had a tall ship changing from the ceiling and seeing an original enormous painting of the people painted in blue and gold in the church, was very beautiful. The town centre with an enormous Inuit red boot sculpture from the art set. there are many artists that live in Qaqortoq town. The supermarket prices were high, so pay must be OK in Greenland. The street had a name, with sooo many letters that translated meant : 'all the ones that go through here' Qaqortoq means white in Greenlandic language the main income is from fishing industry
That sounds amazing! Qaqortoq is such a beautiful place, and seeing the icebergs must have been incredible! We loved it too-such a unique experience. 😊
