@remikors Hiya, thank you for watching. Does anything pop up when you try to launch the game? Go to the library of the EA app, click on Sims 4, then see where it is saying the game is located to make sure it's on the right location.
When it gives a corrupt error notification, sometimes it is because of packs missing, did you successfully move your whole EA Games folder to your external hard drive? Or did it manage to download all the packs to the external hard drive? If so try updating the game just make sure your saves, tray and mods are backed up first before you conduct the update. Let me know how it goes.
@anne7434 Hiya, thank you for watching🙏🏼💙 if you have successfully done the process in the tutorial then place your mods and cc in your USB in the location you placed your Electronics Arts\Sim4\Mods
@lay6502 you can place your game manually to the external hard drive yes, just make sure your EA app settings indicate where the game is. But the mods folder and electronics arts folder the EA App by default places them in the Documents folder so you need to create a shortcut for them and move them using link shell extension for it to work.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good external hard drive. I think the one I have is too cheap to work. I’ve tried everything and it won’t open from my hard drive. I download it from the ea app but when I start it up it won’t start from the hard drive, only from the ea app even though I deleted the sims off my computer I thought. I have the download location set as the drive. And I can see all my files in the drive, but it won’t play from there 😭😭
@sarahd1250 what's the make of your hard drive? My recommendation is Seagate, I have been buying them for years, and they have been reliable. I launch my game from the EA app. Only the game is installed in my hard drive, so when it launches, technically, it is launching from the hard drive.
@teddyswrldd Hiya, thank you for watching. 🙏🏼💙 Yes, you'll need to install it there too, as it has to link the shortcut from the main drive to the external hard drive.
@@JuniperCloud Oh my gosh, I am so sorry, I am trying to figure out where it might have gone wrong for you. try stepping away from it for a bit, sometimes the mind gets clogged up when you've been trying to do something for hours with no success. Step away for a min, then go back to it. Have you downloaded the instructions I provided? I have a pdf file linked in the description that you can download. Maybe that will help with checking the steps.
Hiya, apologies for the late reply, and thank you for watching. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 OK, so the additional EA folder it created? Where exactly did it create it? In your C drive or on your external hard drive?

Hi, thank you for the tut! but idk what i've done wrong it tells me that some of my files are corrupted when i try to open the game now?

If I want to download mods/cc now manually do I put it in my usb stick folder or documents ?
@anne7434 Hiya, thank you for watching🙏🏼💙 if you have successfully done the process in the tutorial then place your mods and cc in your USB in the location you placed your Electronics Arts\Sim4\Mods
What if I just wanna directly add the game to my external hard drive and not do it manually.. will it work easier than to do it manually?
@lay6502 you can place your game manually to the external hard drive yes, just make sure your EA app settings indicate where the game is. I did everything in the video and it said completed when I installed it and right clicked it, pick link source did not show up. Help pls .
I don't know if you've gotten help, but for me I had to select show more options when I right clicked and then it was there.
Did you manage to find pick link source via more options like Mary stated? Sometimes windows shortens menus, and you just have to expand it.

If I play my sims 4 game that’s on an external hard drive on a whole new pc, would I have to install link shell there too?
@teddyswrldd Hiya, thank you for watching. 🙏🏼💙 Yes, you'll need to install it there too, as it has to link the shortcut from the main drive to the external hard drive.
do i need to create a link for saves as well?
No you don't because the entire Electronics Arts folder contains the Saves and Tray files, so it automatically links any files that are in it.
@ trying it out now! This was the best breakdown I’ve seen! Thank you
@ for some reason it’s not working for me I followed it straight through for like 3 hours now lol

@ it’s working but it’s a bit wonky is it supposed to be ?? I may take a break lol
Mines created a new sims Electronic Arts folder again what's happened
