its weird how Prowl was the base for the Autobot insignia, but now is one of the most evil Autobots ever, and Soundwave, who was the base for the Decepticon insignia is now one of the most heroic Decepticons ever. Ironic.
it's even funnier if you think about the fact that inlore Prowl is not liked by many Autobots while Soundwave is the Decepticon who almost no one Hates
Imagine being straight mind controlled into doing horrific things you'd normally never act on and then told "oh you were actually pretty chill in comparison"
Comics Prowl is something else. I never realized how close he is to being the Autobots' Shockwave. It's no help that he loses an eye(which is an awesome look by the way), and wields an ancient cannon on his left hand. Prowl is crazy underrated.
Amanda Waller is not like the others. She has as much ego as Luthor, and how she uses her power is quite often for her own personal beliefs and needs, which put others at risk. Cecil and Nick Fury are, however, more patriotic than her and more willing to lend a hand to heroes.
My defining memory of Prowl is that he had one of Bombshells cerebro shells in his head and no one noticed for 2 years. In fact, everyone thought he was a bit more chill. Also, he had a conversation with shockwave where he used the phrase 'people like us' completely unironically.
36:36 Little added detail for shattered glass prowl he doesn't just control a third of Cybertron by the end of that comic he's the last warlord left! He has 90% control of Cybertron with the Decepticons only being a tiny rebellion having only Iacon in the end. His logic and patience aloud him to take complete control of the evil autobots. He's literally the G1 shockwave all the control with only a small resistance to fight back against him.
I love Prowl, and I love that he has a "By all costs" mentality". But I hate how they write him to be so unlikeable. You can write him to be a shady guy, but you don't have to make him so unlikeable, you know? I still love him though, easily top 10 Autobots
A lot of the writing seems to go super back and forth on the morality scale depending on who's writing. I've felt that some characters have been changed so much that they resemble nothing of their original concept.
I've always held that IDW comics Prowl is the Autobot equivalent of IDW comics Megatron: very intelligent, supremely capable, and incredibly dangerous, but refuses to recognize when his emotions on the situation have compromised or even fully supplanted his reasoning. For Megatron that lead to him escalating the war into the massive slaughter it became, not just of other Cybertronians, but untold numbers of uninvolved species. For Prowl, it meant anything done to stop the Decepticons was justified, up to and including most of the stuff in this video, even after the war ended.
It’s funny how Prowl is the Autobot Military commander and yet he’s got punched by Springer, Ironhide ,Kup,Sliverbolt,Jetfire Thrown off a cliff by Chromedome and nearly beaten to death by Optimus
I feel like the biggest difference between him and shockwave is that shockwave is purely logical, but prowl often lets his emotions make decisions for him.
So what I gathered from this is: Prowl is basically an Autobot version of Shockwave, but with a few key differences that that keeps Prowl not being as evil as Shockwave. First thing that comes to my mind is that Prowl still has his emotions intact, and Shockwave doesn't. That's what's keeping him from going full blown "Shockwave II Electric Time-Travel Boogaloo." He still did do some pretty bad stuff though. Also, 19:11 I know that this is a video all about Prowl, but I jut love that some of the IDW artists used a bunch of High Moon Studio's designs for different characters.
At the moment, I believe it's just rumours from leaks or something similar. Personally, I'm not getting my hopes up until an official announcement has been made.
Uhhh many things said about the Marvel comics were off and because of that it makes Prowl's character sound way different than it really was in those comics...? The retelling of the Magnificent Six story especially had a lot of errors: 1) The team was not tortured for "weeks," it was specifically one week because Megadeath wanted to punish them for having successfully fended off the Decepticons for a week before the townspeople betrayed them. 2) Megadeath did not torture them by making them fight each other. He and his cronies intentionally tortured every member of the team with torture devices, an acid bath, etc. but kept Stampede separate and untouched to break his mind. Once Megadeath had broken the Autobots' spirits, he tormented them even further by executing Stampede in front of them, intentionally giving the traumatized Autobots until the count of ten to act, but knowing they'd been too destroyed mentally to do so. 3) Most importantly of all, Prowl did NOT pressure his teammates to keep everything a secret!!! Everyone on the team was horribly traumatized and all wanted to feign amnesia and lie. The story makes this abundantly clear because it's about the team having to face their trauma! Jazz recounted this: "The shame, the knowledge of our fear, our vulnerability... we-we couldn't own up to those things. Even to ourselves. We'd have been finished, useless to the Autobots and to ourselves. So we concocted a story about amnesia and let our lies and deceits eat away at us!" 4) Also, no mention of how the Magnificent Six, including Prowl, got to redeem themselves and face all this again? That was the whole point of the story, so it's odd to leave that out in a Prowl retrospective. I think it's weird that only the backstory part was mentioned. I know this is a video about just negative things he did, but it feels important that say, the story's climax is Prowl being the one to resist killing Megadeath even after all he'd put them through, just because Megadeath was unarmed and a true Autobot wouldn't kill an unarmed opponent. Other things that sounded off to me in the Marvel comics sections were that like, Wheeljack didn't tell Prowl that the Earthbase defense system couldn't be shut off from the outside and seemed to encourage him to try it out, Prowl wasn't being hard on Wheeljack and didn't need to be like, taught a lesson by having to fight through the defenses. Claiming Prowl "sent Jazz to make a shady deal" is just absurd, I mean not only was Jazz the one who suggested the idea, nothing was shady about Jazz offering protection in exchange for fuel whatsoever. Prowl never chose "expendable" Autobots to go on missions instead of Optimus, that just literally never occurred. Closest I can think of is a scene where BUMBLEBEE said the other Autobots are expendable compared to Optimus. When Prowl yelled at Jetfire, the context was that Jetfire flubbed the mission and tells Buster that he had INTENTIONALLY disregarded Prowl's orders during it and then lied about it, and Prowl was also mad that Jetfire had frozen up while Dirge pummeled Trailbreaker. There was no way to know how serious the consequences for these actions could be. In the Marvel UK continuity, Prowl is cranky but he's generally very heroic, not really a shady manipulator much at all...? Compared to Optimus or Grimlock in Marvel, Prowl is kind and reasonable and a good friend. When he wanted to create the super soldiers that was probably the most morally dubious thing he ever suggested, but like. Optimus Prime literally did that later when he created the Aerialbots and Protectobots so... yeah. He's not that similar to the Prowl in IDW who commits atrocities? I don't know, I just found this weird. It had the vibe of like, if somebody tried to claim Ratchet in many series is shady just because he's grumpy, that wouldn't make sense. The truth is really that Prowl's character is just different in different continuities, like Scorponok is for example.
TFA Prowl isn't really the same character. Different attitude toward life, different alt mode, different backstory...I like him a lot but he's not the Prowl we get in other universes at all. He's even got a totally different colour scheme.

The Ironhide that was resurrected during post-war Cybertron is a younger version of him. The first died during the Earth raid with Hot Rod The second came back when Alpha Trion resurrected him using the backup version of him that was near dead way back 4 million years on Cybertron when Ironhide took a hit for Prime for the first time
You helped me get deeper into Transformers lore and I thank you for that! By the way, is anyone convinced that if IDW Prowl underwent Empurata, he'd turn out even worse than Shockwave?
I remember IDW had a series called ironhide, in which Ironhide was resurrected after being sniped, but lost most of his memories, met alpha trion, and did not understand what the hell sunstreaker was saying, and saving him, even when he had a dismembered head (mostly)

Random Comment: I heard that the Trainbots were nearly added as background characters in the IDW Robots in Disguise Comic Series. I honestly now wonder what would it be like if they were added into the 2005 IDW Continuity as important characters. Let’s say that they started out life on Cybertron being part of the final generation created before the war broke out. Shouki, the speedy leader, was called Mach back then and he along with his brother and their friends decide they want to create a public transportation system to benefit all Cybertronians. However the idea never gains any financial or political backing as the Pre-War Primes from Nominus, to Sentinel, and finally Zeta all disagree. Maybe they’re worried that a system that helps all Cybertronians equally will lead to further erosion of the Functionist System they inherited. The future Trainbots decide that they are going to enter racing to rase the funds. Mach would be the racer due to being the fastest of the group while everyone else would be his pit team. However, racers like Blurr always beat Mach. When the races are ended, the bots just keep their heads low until Optimus makes his big speech to dethrone Megatron after the fall of Zeta. To the Trainbots, this Prime is going to be different. Unfortunately due to the energy crisis, Optimus can’t back the plan even though he likes it. When the war moves away from Cybertron, the Trainbots become a formidable team of warriors, a sort of fast response team as they alter themselves to be able to travel in space despite having ground alt-modes. Think of it as an early Autobot attempt to understand Combiner technology. Over time, the Trainbots fall in love with organic species and become some of the most determined Autobots in the war. Thus when the Surge happens and the Trainbots find themselves on Earth as the Decepticons are tearing across the planet, they make a stand when their enemies finally arrive in Japan. They are crushed, with it basically being a miracle that they all go into stasis instead of being outright killed. The Japanese recover the Trainbots and work on them for years. By the time the Autobots and Skywatch make their alliance, the Trainbots are revived. While they retain their old personalities, they have no memories of their past lives. They are renamed and fall in love with Japan. They end up revealing themselves to the world when some Decepticons launch a raid on the country. Having no experience from their previous lives, the Trainbots still put up a valiant fight until Autobot reinforcements arrive. Many Japanese citizens start to respect the aliens, but most still fear them like the rest of the world. The Japanese Government quickly disavows the Trainbots to avoid the same disapproval the world gave to the United States after the alliance went public. The Trainbots are saddened to leave their home, but the Autobots are welcoming for the most part. Eventually the Trainbots are on Cybertron for the first time in their new lives. They really want to return to Earth, but between the massive anti-Transformer sentiments and the fact the Autobots are too busy trying to govern Cybertron, they resign themselves to their current fate. They keep trying to defend the Autobots from the hatred of the NAILS by pointing out that the Autobots saved countless organic worlds from extinction by the Decepticons, but are shocked to realize how little Cybertronians care about non-robotic lifeforms, especially when they learn how much they grew to care for organics in their past lives. When Optimus Prime leads a team back to Earth to find Alpha Trion and the Enigma of Combination, the Trainbots naturally volunteer. They’re are the most shocked to see the EDC working with the Decepticons since they were raised hearing horror stories of what the Decepticons did in Japan. During the Combiner Wars, instead of Optimus Maximus being the final Combiner who leads the Autobot Combiners in crushing the Decepticon Combiners, it’s Raiden who is born. As the Protectobots return to the Lost Light and the Aerialbots go back to serving the elected leader of Cybertron, Starscream, the Trainbots swear personal allegiance to Optimus Prime so he can have a Combiner at hand, one that is nowhere near as dangerous as Devestator. The return of the Trainbots actually delights a portion of Japan, which has softened its anti-Transformer sentiment to some extent. But everything is thrown into chaos when Optimus declares Earth to be his world and when he raises a Titan. While Earth eventually starts to try and work with the Cybertronians with Optimus corresponding with the American President, the Trainbots are able to convince Japan to be the home of Metrotitan. They sort of become unofficial ambassadors that keep the peace between Cybertron and Earth. Perhaps they have some adventures of their own like protecting the Prime Minister who is quite pro-Transformer from being killed by anti-Transformer humans. Given how most of humanity is still distrustful of the Transformers until the Unicron finale, I would use Trainbots stories to show them bringing Cybertronians and humans together by convincing the latter that the two species are more alike than different. In the end, the Trainbots naturally settle into Japan, determined to make Earth the center of a galactic transportation system that will connect everybody.

16:23 This is how they should've looked in the Bayverse imo
0:11 why did this actually hit hard. And it fits the theme cuz of his name 💀 Also yes, plz make a vid of all the fights that ruined the Deceptions' plans.
Idw prowl has the most insane divorced energy with like half the cast and it’s so funny next to all the war crimes
Whoah whoah whoah the Cybertron games are coming back for real? Who announced it?
The cybertronian Amanda Waller
Finally PROWL!
You forgot that the binotech prowl also ended up becoming the beast wars transmetal II prowl as well
1:56 damn, that must’ve Rattled their Heads. Some you just keeps Conjuring up weapons and forces to Set your World Afire, there’s probably a significant risk of Waking Up Dead. Can’t even Rust in Peace in that town until someone Soldiers On and delivers the Punishment Due, until then every hour is your Darkest Hour
Shockwave is an actual saint(albeit a cybertronian one) by comparisson.
Casually just mentioning dr doom was very strange for me lol
The Ironhide that was resurrected during post-war Cybertron is a younger version of him.
The first died during the Earth raid with Hot Rod
The second came back when Alpha Trion resurrected him using the backup version of him that was near dead way back 4 million years on Cybertron when Ironhide took a hit for Prime for the first time
I just got back from watching transformers one. And this is the first video on my page, hell yeah!!
8:49 That sarcasm made me laugh my ahh off
You helped me get deeper into Transformers lore and I thank you for that!
By the way, is anyone convinced that if IDW Prowl underwent Empurata, he'd turn out even worse than Shockwave?
Love your vids man
LET'S GOOOOO, TIME TO RELIVE ALL THE CRIMES OF MY BABYGIRLLLLL
I feel like Prowl is the personification of the CIA
I remember IDW had a series called ironhide, in which Ironhide was resurrected after being sniped, but lost most of his memories, met alpha trion, and did not understand what the hell sunstreaker was saying, and saving him, even when he had a dismembered head (mostly)
Holy hell. I gotta watch this and the basics on Prowl.
I liked prowl I was really sad when he died in the 1986 movie
Prowl is one emotional chip downgrad away from becoming shock wave
I find it quite funny that the most ruthless Autobot just so happens to be.. Well, a cop car..
This man might be an ultra war criminal but i don't even know why i feel so much pity for him, is the one only time in which im like, "i want everything forgiven for my boy!" I think is that because while otehr evil or good characters make deal or shady stuff, they success and can savour it and only fall until much later but with him is this costant stairs of failing and trying to success on deals he already cnat trust
This is why I love Prowl. He’s a complete prick.
I feel like when u really think about the way they both operate in their respective factions prowl is the autobots equivalent to shockwave
So prowl was also Amanda Waller for a while in the comics. Wth
What was Soundwaves and Optimus' relationship like after the war?
27:54 honestly about Fing time
Michael Bay was kind of based when he made the cop a Decepticon 😂
26:01 hey, just wanted to correct you here, Spike's dad WAS murdered, by Galvatron
To Loyal To getting Betrayal To Deals BETRAYAL
21:06 The boy who cried wolf
Bet he says "Unagreeable" instead of Illogical lol.
Prowl has done some dodgy shit I didn’t think I thought possible for someone who’s been so all about following the police code in the shows he’s in
26:43 That's Scavenger by the way.
