I agree with lazy that our parents haven't actually played that many games, but my father used to own a computer (which is still with us btw) and on that computer he told me that he played delta force 1. He had completed all of its missions. One day I download him delta force on our new computer, and he absolutely enjoyed it. He still plays sometimes when he feels like. When I used to be younger, I have also played lots of angry birds, asphalt 8 etc. with my father on the tab he bought me. We still sometimes play COD MW 2 together. We had a computer super early on in life. I remember using windows XP and paint making the most beautiful scenery I could image on that computer which had a CRT monitor. I think that is why he understands my gaming and doesn't feel that games are bad.

If anyone didn't know there's a game called "Fears To Fathom" it's an amazing physiological horror game create by An Indian developer, it has 4 episodes and all are amazing!!
Many foreign youtubers including markipelier and korryxkenshin have played it!!
So yeah Indian Developers are still growing and this is one of the examples!! India has a long way to go, but trust me we WILL get there.

Yup people tend to forget that majority of this countrys population cant still meet their daily basic needs forget gaming. Majority of the countries wealth comes from just 1% population.
Plus india's education system prevents innovation. Plus there is very less practical knowledge provided. A reason why many corporates hv said that majority of india's educated youth r unemployable.

i am in my sem 2 right now with the course of cse ds , when i was in class 7 i started learning game dev without even having a pc and you are right even though we have some courses in india about game dev we don't have any course about game design and the dev course we have only give us knowladge bare minimum to make a game using old tech unity (not even 4 to 5 years old it is like 10 to12 years old ) thats the main reason why i got ds as it might be useful in servers and game testing part of developement . You are a real gem for me as because of you millions of people are getting aware about true nature of gaming industry and i hope in 2 to 2.5 years things will get much better as i need to publish my first game until then , as i have done my research mostly on story and open world specific design and (mainly from zelda and novel type stories) even if i create a linear game it will get fun and i learned everything without even knowing the indian market , i can just hope on my luck now as my main priority right now is learn how to use unity and godot so I will not research anything about market right now.

@@Zen_Phantom if you have a pc start with unity watch acerolas video on how to become a graphics programmer and just do it , if you can't do that (potato pc) learn pygame or godot from clear code yt channel . These are the best resources currently in the market . For game design search gmtk on yt you will see a lot of stuff from the best yt creater on game design (also you can learn unity "BASICS" from him in 45 minutes)

100% agreed with lazy , your each and every point is valid and i also feel like some Indians don’t know the meaning of games ( before anyone got offend, i will clear that i said some Indians not all) throughout the years i have noticed/observed that some Indian people thinks that a good game should be high graphics no matter what ,they always criticise games like Baldurs gate 3 without even playing like bro is this making any sense ? How could anyone criticise a game without even trying it. In their perspective only high graphics games are good and rest are just a waste. These so called gamers only play battle royal games and then they argue with us. It’s okay if u like BR games I don’t have any issues but man at least don’t make false arguments. I am learning coding and proficiency to make an rpg inspired from darksouls and elden ring witcher kingdom come etc, it is called eclipse reckoning might start development soon graphic quality will be good because we know how the indian gaming community is… and it will have A LOT of difficulty soulsborne series will look like a child in-front-of it (in difficulty ofc) it will have good lore too

As a game developer I just want support, in other countries developers get support from youtubers, streamers. They play every game, even if it is made by a small studio, even if it has 2D pixel graphics.And in India 🤡, TH-camrs just write the name of the channel as "All gaming"🤡. They want to play only high-quality AAA games and do this because the Indian audience is the only one who writes comments like - "like karoge to apki maa ki umer 101 saal hogi "🤡

One really big problem is piracy; if an Indian game developer releases a good finely polished games comparable to the AAA games released overseas, a very small fraction of the market will actually buy the game at a good price and the probability of that going to the overseas market and blowing up there is hard, really hard

Wished your video was longer. This is an honest video. I agree with you. Except the Govt part. Govt doesnt have anything to do with the industry. If companies want, they can but they dont. Indian businessmen make stuff for India only. Be it movies, games or anything. Take example of FauG and stuff, they promote themselves as "Desi game" in hopes people will stick to them just on the basis of it being Indian. Indians have neither creative mindset nor a vision. In India, everything is done on the current needs and basic demand. if battleroyale is currently trending, every office that calls themselves a Gaming company will clone battleroyale. Mayanagari and Mumbai Gullies are trying to make "Indian GTA".... we dont want that... we dont want "Indian game" we should want a game thats acceptable world wide. Games are digital properties, from marketing to distribution is done online on existing platforms such as GOG, Epic or Steam... Have you seen hoardings for Ghenshin Impact in India? No. Cuz they dont need physical pressence in a country to sell their game. Digital ads are enough. Indian studios will only copy other games in hopes that it will at least run in India, giving them quick small money which they will reinvest in next tranding game. Sad reality.

same goes movies, in hollywood artist are given months to prepare for scenes as vfx point of view alot of RnD is done, in India studios demand same result in 2-3 days

The Education of game devs in India is really poor.
Cuz education of creating video games through code is as tough as other software development jobs.
It's all about creating assets, creating code for the player movement, enemy AI, physics, trigonometric maths.
And then, we have our brilliant job HRs and job requirements for interns and freshers. There was one internship where the requirement was,
Expert in C# C++,
Expert in Unity,
Expert in Maya, Blender, photoshop, lightroom, after effects
I mean think abt an upcoming game dev who has made 2-3 games in Unity and knows C# well and comes across this bs requirement. How will he start his career lol?

I am aware that gaming industry in India has not gone far. But i request Lazy Assassin and anyone reading this to do 3 things:
1. Be optimistic by believing thay there is hope even if you think that its impossible. Our parents generation grew up spreading negativity and pessimism to our generation because hopelessness and a poverty stricken India were the only things they knew. Its our duty to be better than them by at the very least believing in a better tomorrow. If you are optimistic you may fail. But if you are pessimistic you will fail.
2. Work hard in your passion by collaborating with like minded individuals. Making anything like a game is an enormous endevour and it requires many minds to work together.
3. Be silent and let your work talk. While i hate pessimism, i also do not like hyper optimism by people who say that India is the best nation in the world. India has a lot of potential provided we work hard today. So work hard today so that videos like this will never have to be made.

"Innovation" is something india lacks in almost every field. As long as we cant do it we will always keep playing catch up game with the rest of the world.

Dude your point about indian audiences not paying attention to games with retro pixelated graphics was sooo true. As someone who wants to get into game development and grew up watching western media, i feel like no one truly understands the true potential of a good 2d pixelated game in India. Majority of the "players" have had no exposure to games other than the common FPS battle royales. Half of the people i know dont even know what a fkin roguelike is. It just pisses me off bcz i know that in the future if i ecer get into game development, i wont have the funds to make a AAA game with polished graphics and will have to go for a low poly asthetic which wont be valued by my own country. I feel like if someone truly wants to make a game which isnt a 3d fps, battle royale, then its better if they try to target western audiences instead of trying to gain the attention of the indian market.
i agree with you , until you are making a very high quality game its better to make western citizens your target . which means western cities, English accent , english characters basically a european environment . ik its heartbreaking to make video on some other culture instead of your own culture which is already good enough but it is what it is . indian audience dont give a sh&t about actually good games.

I live in Bangalore, yes there are game studios near by but the government is not accepting it, there was an game store near my house, they use to sell PlayStation games, even retro games like ps2 games or Nintendo games, but few months ago the shop was taken down, idk the reason but they built a sweet shop there. It was disappointing for me, there is an nvidia office around 40 km away from my house and that was taken down, now there is a mall instead. Idk why gaming related businesses in my city are being shut down, there is a gaming cafe nearby too name "THE GAMERS CORNER" I go there regularly to play ps5 but they are planning to remove the cafe from there, I asked the reason and they did not reply, I don't think India is not even going to come close to Europe gaming level, I don't see that even in 50 years, I really don't think India will improve in gaming at all.

Lack of exposure to indie games, surely is a huge factor. I hardly see any youtubers here playing indie games (apart from occasional hits like getting over it, but those are rare.) And tbh, it is quite sad when you consider how many masterpieces are out there in the indie market, such as Hades and Hollow Knight etc.

mostly log india mein games phone par hi khelte hein , wo bhi 25k ke under ane wale . Agar AAA title develop bhi kardiya to players nahi milenge , jin log ke pas gaming pc hain wo bhi utne strong nahi hai jo AAA chalye , mostly logo ke gaming pc mein 1060 ya 1650 dikhte hein .

yaar 12th ke baad mereko game dev karna tha 9th se youtube se thoda bahut pata kiya tha about the industry and its needs but parents ne kaha paehele engineering karlo computer science mein engineering karloge toh wahan toh job mil hi jayega game banane ke liye computer chalana toh aana hi chahiye na aur meri admissin private collage mein karali. mera game banane ka passion mar gaya aur abhi tak job dhund raha hun.

For now Indian games are and will be considered indie, unless loads of money isn't spent.
But the indie game development has started to boom, being more fun and better than AAA games
Conclusion: games made in india aren't supposed to be AAA, they just need to be fun so that many PPL play it, and graphics aren't the only good things needed, even if graphics aren't good, the core gameplay, story or even lore have to be good, then everyone will appreciate, for eg: helldivers2, the finals, and palworld
