I agree with lazy that our parents haven't actually played that many games, but my father used to own a computer (which is still with us btw) and on that computer he told me that he played delta force 1. He had completed all of its missions. One day I download him delta force on our new computer, and he absolutely enjoyed it. He still plays sometimes when he feels like. When I used to be younger, I have also played lots of angry birds, asphalt 8 etc. with my father on the tab he bought me. We still sometimes play COD MW 2 together. We had a computer super early on in life. I remember using windows XP and paint making the most beautiful scenery I could image on that computer which had a CRT monitor. I think that is why he understands my gaming and doesn't feel that games are bad.

Yup people tend to forget that majority of this countrys population cant still meet their daily basic needs forget gaming. Majority of the countries wealth comes from just 1% population. Plus india's education system prevents innovation. Plus there is very less practical knowledge provided. A reason why many corporates hv said that majority of india's educated youth r unemployable.
If anyone didn't know there's a game called "Fears To Fathom" it's an amazing physiological horror game create by An Indian developer, it has 4 episodes and all are amazing!! Many foreign youtubers including markipelier and korryxkenshin have played it!! So yeah Indian Developers are still growing and this is one of the examples!! India has a long way to go, but trust me we WILL get there.
bruh many Indian developers have helped in making some large AAA titles like rdr2, gta V, RE4 and many more it's just that there isn't any good game made by an Indian studio. It's not possible easy to make an AAA title without any funding it's nearly impossible

i am in my sem 2 right now with the course of cse ds , when i was in class 7 i started learning game dev without even having a pc and you are right even though we have some courses in india about game dev we don't have any course about game design and the dev course we have only give us knowladge bare minimum to make a game using old tech unity (not even 4 to 5 years old it is like 10 to12 years old ) thats the main reason why i got ds as it might be useful in servers and game testing part of developement . You are a real gem for me as because of you millions of people are getting aware about true nature of gaming industry and i hope in 2 to 2.5 years things will get much better as i need to publish my first game until then , as i have done my research mostly on story and open world specific design and (mainly from zelda and novel type stories) even if i create a linear game it will get fun and i learned everything without even knowing the indian market , i can just hope on my luck now as my main priority right now is learn how to use unity and godot so I will not research anything about market right now.
@@Zen_Phantom if you have a pc start with unity watch acerolas video on how to become a graphics programmer and just do it , if you can't do that (potato pc) learn pygame or godot from clear code yt channel . These are the best resources currently in the market . For game design search gmtk on yt you will see a lot of stuff from the best yt creater on game design (also you can learn unity "BASICS" from him in 45 minutes)

I am aware that gaming industry in India has not gone far. But i request Lazy Assassin and anyone reading this to do 3 things: 1. Be optimistic by believing thay there is hope even if you think that its impossible. Our parents generation grew up spreading negativity and pessimism to our generation because hopelessness and a poverty stricken India were the only things they knew. Its our duty to be better than them by at the very least believing in a better tomorrow. If you are optimistic you may fail. But if you are pessimistic you will fail. 2. Work hard in your passion by collaborating with like minded individuals. Making anything like a game is an enormous endevour and it requires many minds to work together. 3. Be silent and let your work talk. While i hate pessimism, i also do not like hyper optimism by people who say that India is the best nation in the world. India has a lot of potential provided we work hard today. So work hard today so that videos like this will never have to be made.
One really big problem is piracy; if an Indian game developer releases a good finely polished games comparable to the AAA games released overseas, a very small fraction of the market will actually buy the game at a good price and the probability of that going to the overseas market and blowing up there is hard, really hard
Dude your point about indian audiences not paying attention to games with retro pixelated graphics was sooo true. As someone who wants to get into game development and grew up watching western media, i feel like no one truly understands the true potential of a good 2d pixelated game in India. Majority of the "players" have had no exposure to games other than the common FPS battle royales. Half of the people i know dont even know what a fkin roguelike is. It just pisses me off bcz i know that in the future if i ecer get into game development, i wont have the funds to make a AAA game with polished graphics and will have to go for a low poly asthetic which wont be valued by my own country. I feel like if someone truly wants to make a game which isnt a 3d fps, battle royale, then its better if they try to target western audiences instead of trying to gain the attention of the indian market.

If good AAA games are made for mobile in the future, hardly anyone will play them. If AAA games comes on PC then it has more chances of becoming popular once like Raji the ancient epic game.There are some good games on Play Store but very few people play them because in India more people are engrossed in multiplayer or say BGMI and Free Fire games.And because of this people do not try new games. I feel that no matter how many new games come on mobile, if people are immersed in 2 multiplayer games then these games will not be able to survive on mobile.I'm not saying stop playing Bgmi and Free Fire. Everyone has their own favorite game.BGMI and Free Fire have a huge audience in India. That's why new people also start playing it. And also it is the fault of the games companies that they are not doing anything new but just copying and pasting. They always announce games quickly and then we get the same multiplayer shooter game.And that's why I don't think upcoming games like Indus and Underworld Gang war will be able to make their mark.

First things first. The Education of game devs in India is really poor. Cuz education of creating video games through code is as tough as other software development jobs. It's all about creating assets, creating code for the player movement, enemy AI, physics, trigonometric maths. And then, we have our brilliant job HRs and job requirements for interns and freshers. There was one internship where the requirement was, Expert in C# C++, Expert in Unity, Expert in Maya, Blender, photoshop, lightroom, after effects I mean think abt an upcoming game dev who has made 2-3 games in Unity and knows C# well and comes across this bs requirement. How will he start his career lol?
Lemme be honest, the game dev community isn't developed much in India, yet. For now Indian games are and will be considered indie, unless loads of money isn't spent. But the indie game development has started to boom, being more fun and better than AAA games Conclusion: games made in india aren't supposed to be AAA, they just need to be fun so that many PPL play it, and graphics aren't the only good things needed, even if graphics aren't good, the core gameplay, story or even lore have to be good, then everyone will appreciate, for eg: helldivers2, the finals, and palworld
Lack of exposure to indie games, surely is a huge factor. I hardly see any youtubers here playing indie games (apart from occasional hits like getting over it, but those are rare.) And tbh, it is quite sad when you consider how many masterpieces are out there in the indie market, such as Hades and Hollow Knight etc.

Im proud to have a father who loves games (kinda). When i was a kid, we used to play 8-bit games (fakes lol), he used to speedrun mario. I don't remember others. After some 2-3 year later we bought our home pc. AND then he downloaded nfs most wanted, i used to play all day long. Then he bought nfs carbon . I learnt pirating and downloaded gta 3 ,vc, and modern warfare. Away from yapping. I think im the only one among the ones i know that only loves the storyline and gameplay in a game (I prefer storyline, doesn't matter the gameplay). It's not so much that our politicians don't take gaming seriously or their age makes them blind towards innovation, it's just that there is no infrastructure for it. Similar to how we have had so many breakthroughs in technologies on mobile like UPI (which is still a foreign concept to almost everyone outside India) since we are predominantly a mobile heavy country. We will see development in gaming when it's sector becomes a thing that the government recognises and funds actively. So many countries had to make things easier/better in their own nations for gaming to flourish, and the same will have to happen here. Gaming isn't child's play, it requires heavy funding. And in our case? Central funding. Because we need to make the gaming sector a reality first, once that happens- individual or independent companies will pop up on their own, but you have to finance this sector and make it a...... sector first.

Man my freinds don't wanna play platformers like hollow knight and cuphead. Whenever we talk about pc games they don't know any other AAA game other than gta V and some COD games. They don't even try to explore new genre of games.
I am playing games when I was in class I and my first video game I played was gta 3 and you know graphics was not that good but I liked because of story, gameplay but now I am playing games which are extreme at graphics but not at all sense in combat, gameplay(about mobile games)....... bruh many Indian developers have helped in making some large AAA titles like rdr2, gta V, RE4 and many more it's just that there isn't any good game made by an Indian studio. It's not possible easy to make an AAA title without any funding it's nearly impossible

i am in my sem 2 right now with the course of cse ds , when i was in class 7 i started learning game dev without even having a pc and you are right even though we have some courses in india about game dev we don't have any course about game design and the dev course we have only give us knowladge bare minimum to make a game using old tech unity (not even 4 to 5 years old it is like 10 to12 years old ) thats the main reason why i got ds as it might be useful in servers and game testing part of developement . You are a real gem for me as because of you millions of people are getting aware about true nature of gaming industry and i hope in 2 to 2.5 years things will get much better as i need to publish my first game until then , as i have done my research mostly on story and open world specific design and (mainly from zelda and novel type stories) even if i create a linear game it will get fun and i learned everything without even knowing the indian market , i can just hope on my luck now as my main priority right now is learn how to use unity and godot so I will not research anything about market right now.

These are the best resources currently in the market . For game design search gmtk on yt you will see a lot of stuff from the best yt creater on game design (also you can learn unity "BASICS" from him in 45 minutes)

I am aware that gaming industry in India has not gone far. But i request Lazy Assassin and anyone reading this to do 3 things:
1. Be optimistic by believing thay there is hope even if you think that its impossible. Our parents generation grew up spreading negativity and pessimism to our generation because hopelessness and a poverty stricken India were the only things they knew. Its our duty to be better than them by at the very least believing in a better tomorrow. If you are optimistic you may fail. But if you are pessimistic you will fail.
2. Work hard in your passion by collaborating with like minded individuals. Making anything like a game is an enormous endevour and it requires many minds to work together.
3. Be silent and let your work talk. While i hate pessimism, i also do not like hyper optimism by people who say that India is the best nation in the world. India has a lot of potential provided we work hard today. So work hard today so that videos like this will never have to be made.
One really big problem is piracy; if an Indian game developer releases a good finely polished games comparable to the AAA games released overseas, a very small fraction of the market will actually buy the game at a good price and the probability of that going to the overseas market and blowing up there is hard, really hard
Dude your point about indian audiences not paying attention to games with retro pixelated graphics was sooo true. As someone who wants to get into game development and grew up watching western media, i feel like no one truly understands the true potential of a good 2d pixelated game in India. Majority of the "players" have had no exposure to games other than the common FPS battle royales. Half of the people i know dont even know what a fkin roguelike is. It just pisses me off bcz i know that in the future if i ecer get into game development, i wont have the funds to make a AAA game with polished graphics and will have to go for a low poly asthetic which wont be valued by my own country. I feel like if someone truly wants to make a game which isnt a 3d fps, battle royale, then its better if they try to target western audiences instead of trying to gain the attention of the indian market.

After some 2-3 year later we bought our home pc. AND then he downloaded nfs most wanted, i used to play all day long. Then he bought nfs carbon . I learnt pirating and downloaded gta 3 ,vc, and modern warfare.

It's not so much that our politicians don't take gaming seriously or their age makes them blind towards innovation, it's just that there is no infrastructure for it.
Similar to how we have had so many breakthroughs in technologies on mobile like UPI (which is still a foreign concept to almost everyone outside India) since we are predominantly a mobile heavy country.
We will see development in gaming when it's sector becomes a thing that the government recognises and funds actively.
So many countries had to make things easier/better in their own nations for gaming to flourish, and the same will have to happen here.
Gaming isn't child's play, it requires heavy funding. And in our case? Central funding.
Because we need to make the gaming sector a reality first, once that happens- individual or independent companies will pop up on their own, but you have to finance this sector and make it a...... sector first.

Man my freinds don't wanna play platformers like hollow knight and cuphead. Whenever we talk about pc games they don't know any other AAA game other than gta V and some COD games. They don't even try to explore new genre of games.
I am playing games when I was in class I and my first video game I played was gta 3 and you know graphics was not that good but I liked because of story, gameplay but now I am playing games which are extreme at graphics but not at all sense in combat, gameplay(about mobile games)....... It's important to develop the gameplay more than the graphics....
In my opinion: india is focusing on mobile gaming but in my opinion india should focus on pc Gaming so that he van achieve international level game and spending some money on games gaming is fastest growing things but Indian gaming companies hesitate.... That's why they don't make aaa games because they are costly but uf they didn't make games like these so i Don't thing so they van achieve international level....
