Really sad what happened to my hometown. I can say that this was a great place to grow up. My mothers house was in the middle of the video. Everyone lived in somewhat harmony and there were only a few neighborhood skirmishes. Not the random killings you see now. Besides someone mentioning the tobacco factory closing and the mall not being built, another drain on the city was young people leaving and never coming back - myself included. Not enough career or economic opportunities. Once the older generations that were the backbone of the city began dying, there was no talent or families to replace them. Even most of the people that work in the city now (ie the teachers, policemen, etc) live in the neighboring counties (Dinwiddie, Chesterfield, Prince George) which are safer and have grown rapidly with nicer housing. The lack of replenished population is what have lead to all the dilapidated housing in the video. I could continue but it’s kind of sad to keep writing.
Not bad. Peterburg’s a real place. Peterburg has real people out and about. Peterburg has active, vibrant street life. Peterburg is allowing change and improvement to happen organically instead of completely leveling its entire history, architecture, and street culture with urban renewal’s wrecking ball and entirely hollowing out its city. Norfolk is entirely gone. Peterburg has a chance. Peterburg still has character. Move to Peterburg.

MLK isn't really revered in the black communities anymore. MLK is usually just used for white people to go through the motions of pretending they care by bringing up his words or making new statues or roads named in his honor. But blacks today don't follow the words of MLK and aren't really interested in any of his teachings.
Legend has it that MLK was supposed to be in Petersburg the day he was assassinated..but due to an uprising in Memphis TN, he went there. MLK used to stay in a home on Harrison st. in Petersburg whenever he came to visit, look it up.
A good rule of thumb is, wherever its a overwhelming majority of blacks living in a single area, that area is going to be high in crime. The parts of Detroit that are being cleaned up are by white investors and this is looked down upon by both blacks and Democrats as gentrification and seen as racism when these areas are cleaned up.
@@Danlovestrivium Among the black population there is no propaganda what "gangster romance" will lead to, young people cannot find themselves and go to rob and kill. In cities, sections are needed on a state basis: Music, sports, theater circles, etc. I think that these districts should not be feared, but it is worth ramming in and improving the situation, it is necessary to separate young people from former prisoners. Literally in 5-6 years of active work with districts, it is possible to radically change the position of these people, districts, and motivate them to work on themselves. The black citizens of America are very talented, I look at ordinary people from the ghetto from the author’s video, how a love couple in the ghetto dances not to music for bandits, there is love and right thoughts in people. It is necessary to correctly bring this out of the streets, through dialogue, through the eradication of elements that recruit people and their souls in a dirty direction. these are banal thoughts, but there is no other way.
@@Danlovestrivium Where are your city councils, what the fuck are they doing? fighting for transgender rights? there should be a state within a state, we do not have the problem of recruiting young people into gangs, and if this starts to happen, not only the police, but also the state security service take them.

@@blackneji1701 I think you are are talking about one part of Petersburg. The Petersburg High School is right beside a golf ⛳ course and the Petersburg Country Club is surrounded by newer subdivisions. So how could a whole city be so called hood with things such as these . They didn't show the Old Town they didn't show any other parts but the parts that get views. Colonial Heights, Hopewell, and Chester are the same you have your good parts and bad like every city. Petersburg, Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, and Prince George are intertwined. So you can live in any one of those cities and counties and have a Petersburg address. None of those were shown in the video. You can do a Zillow look up and see the many different parts of Petersburg. Petersburg is a really small town with less than 40k residents but is always compared to cities with 100k or more residents. What is being shown in the video is a few streets of the city . Do your own research people, with any city you have good and bad parts but for some reasons people love to highlight the negative. Get out and travel and you will see people are very selective with what they show you.

You try and get a float dog down there and they will try and sell you a replacement crop or a wine disher before they ever admit to it. Revelation 1:18
I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
April 4, 1968, 50 years ago Martin Luther King was killed, one of the most extraordinary and intelligent men in contemporary history.
I think that the spaces that Charlie Bo offers us are the right location for this little memory of mine dedicated to Martin Luther King.
The fact that everyone has forgotten it, reading the comments, is significant for a further interpretation of the United States.
And of the images that flow in Charlie Bo's extraordinarily important reports. Greetings
Wow! I never knew it was April 4 he died. Thanks for reminding us
MLK isn't really revered in the black communities anymore.
Huh. And I don't live all that far from there...
Yea me to ,, get out while u can once u on the inside that's it the system will bring u down .

Has he done Toledo yet? He must have.
It doesn't look like a very dangerous place, sort of like parts of Detroit that are starting to be cleaned up.
It’s not that bad.
@@Ноук Well, I wish these people were in your country instead of mine so that your people could attempt to do what no one else has been able to do.
@@Danlovestrivium Where are your city councils, what the fuck are they doing? fighting for transgender rights? there should be a state within a state, we do not have the problem of recruiting young people into gangs, and if this starts to happen, not only the police, but also the state security service take them.

Not really, you're in a quiet little cut. You're looking to move to Petersburg?
Yep.
Poor Petersburg, VA. A potentially charming little town. Nice people. I know because I stayed for a little while to take care of my nephews and nieces when my sister was hospitalized while battling breast cancer. She's dead now. And so is Petersburg, VA. 🏚🏚🏚

This is only one part of Petersburg. It is funny how people only show the bad parts of a city. Every city has it good and bad part. If you travel you will know this. So sad how people exploit a few blocks for TH-cam views.
Petersburg look like this about anywhere you go, you gotta be talking like colonial heights if it in Petersburg bc its a sundown town they dont want the blacks over there
Otherwise the nice houses gonna be in hopewell chesterfield and prince George area
Battlefield Park neighborhood pretty decent, Walnut Hill we have a few decent neighborhoods that's quiet and affluent.
