      @robertjutton6079 The chase scene was amazing. The only 2 things that bothered me was,when the Africans threatened the bad guy and that ridiculously beautiful blonde with machetes,somehow inches next scene they were completely unfazed, and that beautiful Aston was wasted on a much too short car chase that only concentrated on the "record" number of flips.Great kiwi director,and that's coming from a absolutely and totally not biased kiwi guy.

      I absolutely agree. I was 5 when Goldeneye came out. I saw it at the theater with my parents. I have to say it was probably the greatest theater experience of my childhood. I remember the audience going crazy over the chemical facility escape and the tank chase.

    Best Bond film, post Connery. Music, film (not digital), a mix of acoustic music and digital, and CGI special effects were still somewhat reasonable. Good acting, amazing actress Izabella Scorupco (the look of a feisty angel), good action, good story, good villain. Just amazing.

    Goldeneye is an undeniable classic, and it’s still a blast with a unique tone that the series hasn’t repeated. Brosnan was practically destined for the role of Bond, and his performance got better as his tenure went on.

      I think goldeneye was the best of his movies. As much as I love Pierce, Die another day was pretty bad imo.

    • @arcadely
      @arcadely 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@RMJJ91 I agree. Goldeneye was definitely his best and, to me, it felt like the films declined in quality throughout his tenure, with Die Another Day being the worst. I don't think it's his fault the scripting and direction were increasingly poor though. He was a natural to play James Bond but I feel like Eon wasted his talent with increasingly ropey productions. But Goldeneye remains one of my favourite Bond films. And, of course, it also spawned one of my favourite video games of all time, so there's that too.

    This was a long awaited Bond movie that actually delivered. I will admit that it wasn't just the story and action that scored for me, the stand out performance and actress for me was Izabella Scorupco. I would say Golden Eye is my favorite Bond movie in the time frame between Roger Moore and before Daniel Craig.

    One of my favourite bond movies. Another little snippet for the movie mistake spotters amongst you. The Tiger Helicopter might have been real, but there was some funny business going on with the light helicopter which emerges from the roof of the wrecked train as Trevelyan and Onatopp make their escape. You distinctly hear a turbine engine spooling up - when the helicopter in question is in fact a Robinson R22 and has a humble four cylinder air cooled piston engine. Very loud when you're up close to one (its roughly 5.2L or 5.9L depending on age of aircraft) but nothing like the noise they dubbed over it.

    It would be nice to mention the first candidate for the opening song which was the swedish group Ace of Base. The official history tells they suddenly decided it cuold harm their image in case of the film's flop and turned down the offer but the song was already written and lately was included in 2002 'Da Capo' album with words 'Golden Eye' changed to 'Juvenile'. The Ace of Base version sounds quite good and somewhat more 'traditional' but of course it's just my opinion.

    Brosnan was on his way down the stairs to the press conference to announce him as the new Bond when his agent called and told him that the network last minute renewed Remington Steele for another season. 1994, Liam Neeson didnt want to be typecast. FFWd to 20 years later and hes made the same identical movie 15 times. Woo turned it down "Because he wanted to concetrate on is own projects at the time"? What a load of crap. His next movies were Broken Arrrow, Face Off, Blackjack and Mission Impossible 2.

    Huge Bond fan since Sean Connery. Brosnan should have been and was going to be Bond for Living Daylights but producers of Remington Steel heard the news, based on the hype, they opted to renew Remington Steel for a 5th season. Which ruined Brosnan becoming the next Bond after Moore retired from the role. Brosnan, hurt his hand before filming on GoldenEye began.
    The music used for the Tank scene was F*ckin Awesome!!

    Dalton retcon. He lasted only two films because he never really was a good fit as Bond. It bugged me that he always looked like he was working up a sweat keeping up with the pace of the movie, instead of looking like he was in control. Just zero on-screen charisma.
    I knew about Brosnan almost getting the gig before Dalton, and although it was a fked up situation, it paid off later timing-wise with GoldenEye, what with movie-making technology and whatnot.
    Look at how Brosnan perfectly blended Connery's and Moore's Bonds into his own while modernizing the character. Pierce's natural mannerisms WAS already 100% Bond. He basically just played himself without having to act much. No one else on the planet at the time could've pulled off GoldenEye and its success as much as he did. It was almost like he had been genetically created in a lab to eventually play Bond.

    the biggest missed opportunity was not having Hugh Grant as Bond and Liz Hurley as the Bond girl/femme fatale, but Liz DID play such a part in Austin Powers and Hugh did Mickey blue eyes, which isn't good but hinted at how he'd work as Bond, James Bond.
