When watching MASH, notice that Gary Burghoff's (Radar's) left hand is always hidden behind a clipboard or his teddy bear. Gary was born with a deformed left hand that was missing fingers. He was one of the first long term, truly physically disabled actors to appear on TV for any extended period of time-without being a token disabled character. Just an interesting fact. By the way, you'll never watch MASH the same way again without hunting for the rare moments of the quick exposures of Gary's left hand. You're welcome. :)
Gary Burghoff played Charlie Brown in the original stage production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." in 1967. The LP record of songs from that production is here on TH-cam. I urge people to listen to this. Gary was a great singer who sang some difficult parts. I couldn't find any.film of the production. There is a picture of a very young Gary as Charlie and it's funny because he has his cap on sideways. The way the "gangsta gangbangers" wear them now. Charlie was the first "non-conformist". Gary was not like shy "Radar" at all. He was gregarious and at times considered arrogant. Many of the M*A*S*H cast members liked "Radar" but didn't quite like Gary. Now when I watch M*A*S*H I can't help but see Radar as Charlie Brown. Or Charlie Brown as Radar. Gary invented a very successful fresh water fishing lure.
love the way he took this over despite the host's efforts and the other 2 enjoyed it and went along with it clearly planned+staged but funny & convincing for a while

Also he played drums for a band which featured Linda Carter on lead vocals. She used him in an episode of Wonder Woman and he was then picked up for MASH
Wrong. In fact, he only has three fingers on his left hand... When watching MASH, notice that Gary Burghoff's (Radar's) left hand is always hidden behind a clipboard or his teddy bear. Mull looks especially Hulk Hogan in this episode.
So out of control that Barth gets Jerry involved 😅
A talk show with tray tables? Cheesy!
That was the point
Mull in great bio (Charlton Heston: An Incredible Life) at amazon!
Hilarious!
A 1978 gem. Couldn't see the 6th finger, though.
Wendy Hermes Gary doesn't have a 6th finger. The deformity his left hand has is it's smaller, and two fingers are not the right size.
"Archives of infidel decadence"???? Not part of the show. Some sub put on during the transfer. You can't make this stuff up, ladies and gentleman.
what year is this?
1978
2020
gary looks shorter than the other people
He's 5'6"
Radar.... when I die, i am.going to will you my height.
I read that the other actors on MASH thought he was a bit of a prick. They loved his character, but hated him.
Obviously doesn't want to talk about MASH.
It’s not so funny when the audience is obviously in on the joke.
What joke? Just curious, maybe I'm slow
oh, by the way... Garfy plays a mean drum too.... figure that out? Oh yeah... a 6th finger.
Krupa left him his kit when he died
He doesn't have a sixth finger..
