I agree with some of the sentiments here. I played Pool B, which was the only MPO pool that didn't get saved by Roy G. I played Belton in 30-50 wind and Met in 50+ all day. I like the idea of the pool %, but it was just simply an unprecedented idea that didn't have time to be planned out. If they implemented it mid-tournament, then someone that played a certain way to save strokes vs. rating or pool % would get booted for simply playing the rules they were given. That wouldn't be fair either. And you can't expect them to plan for weather a year in advance. Sometimes you just get the breaks. I feel you, tho. I shot a +15 at Met and it was 937. The players packs are something I both agree and disagree with. On one hand, I'm not going to pretend I loved it. The discs were terrible, the bag wasn't there, and they did sell it pretty big. But... the value is there if you break it down. The skinny bag is 114 (I got one last year, and it's not a great bag) The polo is probably somewhere around a 50 dollar polo, given that it's a performance material, and I love the logo The pin is 10ish bucks The 20 dollar gift card (Can't speak to your issues in pro shop, I wanted a KC Roc and got it, but I didn't have a ton of interest in used clothing, so I get it) The Zanfel goes for 25 on EBay, if you want to sell it The little toss disc is what? maybe 5 bucks? A lot of people weren't including lunches and dinners in players packs, but I think they are included... and even though 1 lunch was Little Caesars, I figure that 4 BBQ meals (God, so much freaking BBQ) and one thing of sandwiches and a Little Caesars at say... 12 bucks for BBQ, 10 for sandwiches, and nothing for Little Caesars (These are retail food truck prices, rounded down I reckon) Also, while it seemed to just be a box, I believe Innova sells those boxes for about 20 bucks. That final price is: 312 Now, that doesn't matchup w/ the 350-400 promise, but it's well over the price tag. My biggest issue for the whole event was timeline on info and the lines on stuff. Those are things that can be fixed, though, and I am hoping that they will fix it for next year. Overall, it wasn't enough to deter me from going again, but I can understand those that don't want to come again. This was the biggest amateur only event in history, and I think it has a lot of learning opportunities. Also, I'll fully admit that I am close friends with multiple members of the event staff, so I won't pretend I am objective on this... but I can assure you, I watched many of them working late hours and doing everything in their power to provide the best tournament they could. And I know that they have a list of things they plan to improve for next year. Cheers!
I appreciate your detailed comment! Those are all great points and I totally understand why many people would still want to come back (and that event staff worked very hard). Honestly, I think better communication alone would’ve helped these issues be alleviated in my mind
Could not have agreed more with ya brotha! Glad I wasn’t the only one that had lots of questions about how the tournament was run 😆. Just to clarify the B-Pool also had 50 mph gusts at Belton. I agree with what Robbie said and would have been the most fair way to do it, I averaged well above some people that ended up making finals and missed the cut by like 8 strokes 😂
You nailed everything - MA2 got one disc, base plastic. The wind issue is obviously "nature" - but you nailed it on that as well. Having different tee times and pools allows for certain people to get out to a decent start while hurting the folks who play late. And day 2 was just as windy, so same thing, if you played early enough you made it through the windier times.
Playing this year's event and I am not experiencing any of these issues. Not saying they don't exist but communication has been great, tons of disc vendors at the players meeting and dinner, players pack had 2 great high quality shirts and hoodie, and premium plastic disc. The courses, staff, and volunteers have been outstanding. Possible severe weather heading into round three so will see what happens with that.
Well put….I’m a great guy to play disc golf with, and the NADGT nationals event was very unorganized 😊 I’m glad I went, but was disappointed by the “over selling” of the event benefits. Kinda felt used car sales manish. I had half of a quesadilla for my “lunch” one day. Another day the food truck didn’t show up. Live oak brewing was just a bad idea for a 1300 person event. Especially with one person serving drinks 😩 The players party venue was NOT planned out well at all. The pro shop was really weak and seemed like a way for them to upsell merch and cycle out low end base plastic……oof. Hopefully the NADGT admin staff will do a better job in the future to serve disc golfers. This year they just left players shorthanded….
The NADGT is its own entity, led by Dave Feldberg (who is by no means an amateur). They have been running this event for several years now as well. I honestly wouldn’t have been nearly as disappointed with the event if they hadn’t promised so much and hyped up every facet of the event. It really just set them up for failure
It’s too bad that you felt compelled to sound off on your complaints through such a public medium. Specifically, it is unfortunate for all the players who chose not to attend this year because you had to mouth off on TH-cam, because pretty well all the things you complained about had been addressed and fixed for this year’s event. You should’ve just made your complaints on the down low instead of feeding your ego on TH-cam. Think about how your comments are going to affect other people before you post. Thank goodness I didn’t see your video until after I attended this year‘s event, which was absolutely brilliant and went off without a hitch.
oh you mean like you just did by posting your comment or like I am doing now? lol Good points man! It sounds like things did get fixed so I can't wait to hear how that went.
I see you made it back this year. Looking forward to a follow up video addressing any changes, positive and negative!

why would you add background music at such a high level while you're talking?

Good points! I definitely agree
sounds like a scam
Felt like one too!
Sounds like Amateurs organizing a tournament to amateurs...
