I saw a peregrine falcon doing barrel rolls around a bald eagle harassing the eagle from its territory. I witnessed this taking place above the tree-tops just below the rim of Crater Lake in Oregon. It was an amazing display. I also saw, at very close range, a goshawk fly up from the forest floor having just caught a large snake. It was very majestic. That was in Lassen National Park in Northern California.

The lioness is slightly bigger in size, slightly Heavier (African lioness 300lbs, pantanal jaguar 220-250 lbs) and more aggressive but the jaguar has a stronger bite force, is more muscular and more robust. Both are pretty similar in raw strength and both have 3 inch claws and teeth so i would say 50/50 but it depends on sub species

I once saw an accidental head-to-head matchup of these two. Peregrine was in full stoop; goshawk was ambush-hunting from a tall pine by a riverbank. The goshawk basically T-boned the falcon about 6ft off the water. Goshawk was tough enough to pull up, but the falcon couldn't; it most likely drowned.
My thing is peregrine's are fastest at a stoop or dive, but what if that misses. I've seen on national geographics pigeons evading peregrine stoops. Goshawks are very agile flyers and might be able to dodge, recover, and take the advantage. And for the record Swift's are the fastest flying birds in a straight line.

I agree with everything but your last statement. Goshawks eat their prey alive. Even with talons penetrating, the victim often is dying while getting eaten. Being dead before it knew what happened applies more for the peregrine.

Hey...I am a falconer and without no doubt I can say that the peregrine will win...I am speaking from my own experience when my pet was attacked by the goshawk...it tried to steal its prey.. peregrine also have larger feet than normal falcons.

The Goshawk is more agile while the Falcon is faster. The Goshawk has better Talons while the Falcon has a better beak. In a forest, Goshawk wins. In an open plane, Falcon wins.

Let's assume this fight will be in the air. Speed kills and nothing living on Earth is faster than the Peregrine Falcon. There are several in my desert neighborhood and they are gorgeous. If you have never seen a film of the Peregrine Falcon diving at around 200 MPH, please go see one.
As a previous Falconry/Austringer for over 20 yrs....you cannot compare the two. Both have a very unique hunting style and that is because of the birds structural.....The Peregrine is a "Falco" and the Gos is a "Accipiter"...thus a very different hunting form.....but you have shown the highlights of both!

What it doesn't say is the Goshawk will spook a Peregrine, Eagle, owl to make it leave a nest to the double round and grab chicks. This behaviour had been observed when population of voles and squirrels are low. Goshawk will adapt very quickly to survive.

I believe that the falcon is simply too quick for the hawk. That would give it a distinct advantage.
Not in a nest. Goshawk is the master at mid level flight at dawn so it blends wirh horizon and sun. Falcon would see it. Its chicks wouldn't.

Hey...I am a falconer and without no doubt I can say that the peregrine will win...I am speaking from my own experience when my pet was attacked by the goshawk...it tried to steal its prey.. peregrine also have larger feet than normal falcons.
Can you elaborate more on that? What are the conditions under which the goshawk attacked your falcon?
@@Semendrija123 my peregrine was eating its prey.....so my precious goshawk who was wearing a hood came off and it was nearby and plus she was hungry....she saw my peregrine and so it jumped on her and in a split second my peregrine caught its face which lead to my goshawk death in 2 days..😭😭 but this is a different scenario....in actuality ofcoarse goshawk would win in a proper fight...

@@Semendrija123 yea thanks.. currently I possess 3 falcons...1 male gyr falcon 1 gyr X peregrine and another one is a small Eurasia hobby......buying a female golden eagle in 2 months

The Goshawk is more agile while the Falcon is faster. The Goshawk has better Talons while the Falcon has a better beak. In a forest, Goshawk wins. In an open plane, Falcon wins.

Goshawks are tough and tenatious, Falconers have had to go get a shovel when a large rabbit drug a Goshawks down the hole and wouldn't let go, known for striking people when they mess with thier nest. Cheers

Let's assume this fight will be in the air. Speed kills and nothing living on Earth is faster than the Peregrine Falcon. There are several in my desert neighborhood and they are gorgeous. If you have never seen a film of the Peregrine Falcon diving at around 200 MPH, please go see one.

hawk has stronger legs whereas falcon has stronger beak speed and agility and overall strength so peregrine would win
As a previous Falconry/Austringer for over 20 yrs....you cannot compare the two. Both have a very unique hunting style and that is because of the birds structural.....The Peregrine is a "Falco" and the Gos is a "Accipiter"...thus a very different hunting form.....but you have shown the highlights of both!

What it doesn't say is the Goshawk will spook a Peregrine, Eagle, owl to make it leave a nest to the double round and grab chicks.
This behaviour had been observed when population of voles and squirrels are low.
Goshawk will adapt very quickly to survive.
