I have a great idea for you. Why don’t you make individual help papers ( one for each child) who is doing their own laundry? You can keep each paper in their own bin. Let’s say it’s Ellecee’s day and she is confused on what to do. If you have the list laminated, they can check off the categories as they go along. Like first would be separate the clothes. A, Darks B. Lights C Reds. D. Bed sheets/ towels. They would separate the clothes and check it off their list. As they do these things, they will check them off and hopefully they will eventually know the list so we’ll they won’t have to refer to it. I chose Ellecee because she is a Little and since this is so new to her, she should just be able to fall into it. Teach them the way you would do the laundry yourself and it will all make sense in the end. 😀
I agree, great idea 💡 also, if two kids are sharing a laundry day maybe if they both have small loads of darks for example, they should wash them together to save water / electricity and detergents etc. It’s greener for the environment and planet 👍🏻🙌🏻 x
This is a fantastic life skill to have!!! They are all at such a great age to teach this! And besides, Tiffany, you are not responsible for clothes that change color, shrinkage, etc. You might want to make up a folder with laundry tips/ tricks that help them do laundry better. Some days this will come in extremely handy when you are indisposed!! Best of luck with everything!!
I’m 28 and I have 8 non-biological kiddos. I went from having laundry for 2 people to having laundry for 10 people VERY quickly. It took me about 2 weeks to figure out that I couldn’t mix their laundry. It has been my SAVING GRACE. I love your bins!
Trying to keep up with laundry is the hardest thing ever!!! There’s only 5 of us and I have assigned everyone a “ laundry day” that they need to get me their laundry by every week and it NEVER happens!!! When we built our house I was pregnant with my second child and I thought having the laundry room off of the kitchen would be awesome and it was for a little while. Now all I seem to have is piles and baskets of dirty clothes in my kitchen ALL THE TIME!!! I really need to figure out another system to get this organized better. I keep telling my husband I’m going to get a second washer and dryer and put them in our basement and whoever doesn’t get me their laundry on their day will have to go to the basement to do their own laundry, we have an unfinished basement and it smells from time to time so they won’t want to leave it sit down there for long or put stuff all over the floor!! I absolutely LOVE your laundry room make over and hope that your new system works better for you!!
I love how the teens as there getting older they understand how stressful it is to be a mom and dad of sixteen kids and will help without complaining or being told to. Tiffany and Benji have raised good kids.

I have four kids and am overrun with laundry, I couldn’t even imagine how much you guys have lol! Mine are more than old enough to do their own also and I tried a system with their own baskets… they quit on me lol! You are making me try again! Thank you!
@@kathleenschoultz yeah but I was an awful kid when I was little and my mom tried that. I just wore dirty clothes for months until my mom gave up and washed my clothes because she got embarrassed for me. I didn’t care at all.
Love the system! Love that your teaching your kids to do their own laundry! My mom always did all of it. Even when I was an adult she’d come do it! I taught my son at about 10 to do his own and my mom was not happy with me. I was like this a life skill he needs to know! If I could only teach my husband… he will wash and dry his clothes but they go on the floor! And he washes 3 loads of laundry in 1 load and they never dry and he wonders why they stink🤯
(Edited to add- I posted this comment before I saw your new system is basically just like this. I hope it works well for you. As my kids got bigger, they didn’t stick to a day but has to leave their labeled basket by washer/dryer so if another needed to use the w/d they just out those clothes in their basket. If they wrinkled I guess the owner should have taken care of them) I learned my system years ago from another large family M.O.M. (Mom of many) Every room has its own dirty hamper and laundry day of the week. Sheets for that room can be done that day or on its own day. Towels too or have a hamper by washer and their own (or every) day or add as fillers to small loads. So laundry never has to be sorted for where it goes. Every person or room had a labeled laundry basket to leave by washer/dryer. Those old enough did their own laundry. And I never had to wonder whose socks or undies where who’s
Honestly love the video as even though I’m 19 I have learnt new things such as lint needing emptying. We don’t really use tumble dryers or dryers and so don’t have to worry about it as much but is really good to know
I love the makeover!!!! It’s so beautiful & organized. There’s only one thing I wanted to point out. The laundry detergents & bleach need to be stored in opaque containers to protect them from light & keep them working. Otherwise everything is goals! ❤
Washing is a struggle for me sometimes too, there are only 5 in our house but by the time sheet change day comes round I have 4 beds worth of sheets and pillow cases to wash, towels to wash and clothing too. Its not so bad really as I try keep up Washing clothes and school uniform every 2 to 3 days, sheets once a week and towels, tea towels and cloths every 3 days. I have a 7kg washing machine which holds a lot, I hang it out either in the car shed or out on the main clothesline outside (I'm in NZ and everyone loves hanging washing out to dry) and the smell of fresh dried washing is amazing 😁 in the winter I hang the clothes indoors under our ventilation system on clothes airers. I don't usually separate colours from whites unless they are good clothes, I haven't got a dryer either lol.
There are sheets similar to dryer sheets only you put them in the washer. They are color grabbers and they will save your clothes from getting dyed. I love them because some of my things still bleed in the laundry even though they have been washed a few times. Love your awesome redone laundry room!!
Looking forward to an update after a few months. If you can get this to work with all those kids than surely I can get something going with my hubby & 3 kids.
I love the color of the new cabinets. That like light minty or kinda seafoam green. Really cute. I hope all the kids do well. I think ElCee is a little young to be doing her laundry alone but 🤷♀️ every family is different so maybe it'll be ok. I wish laundry didn't even exist cuz I freaking hate it so much! I wish clothes just recleaned themselves or something lol. But anyway, the room looks great. I hope it lives up to your expectations 💜💚
Make laminated information sheets that stay in the laundry room on a ring for your family. Kids forget and even husbands. I have an Autistic child and our information cards help with independence. ❤️
I only havea couple kids but with laundry it can look like I have 10kids 😅 my solution that helped drastically....each kid has their own laundry basket and when its full they bring it to me, I wash and dry or hang it out to dry then put it in their basket and they must hang fold put it away...it works for me and we never have stray mismatch socks , cause each kid has their basket they know whats theirs❤ hope your system works for you

To prevent the dye transfer from new jeans, add 1/2 to 1 cup of white vinegar to new jeans in a *rinse* cycle. It will help set the dye so it doesn't bleed onto other clothes. After the rinse cycle, wash with soap in a regular cycle.
