I was in the building at this concert! I absolutely loved it . Nelson Rangel was one of my favorites. Earl klugh can play for me any day. This is absolutely beautiful music. I have most of Earl klugh 💿 Cd's. You will not find better music anywhere this was at Catalina Island. Beautiful weekend with my wonderful husband

While we all agree that Earl Klugh's music and these musicians are extraordinary, let's not forget the Audio Quality typical of all the Java Jazz Festival videos. Allowing for a clean undistorted sound of all instruments when heard at home, and even better with your headphones on! Thanks to @EarlKlugh, @JavaJazzFest and @PeterGontha !

I've been listening to this in the 80's..I enjoy it much while in a Ride.
I have nothing but the greatest respect for Earl Klugh as a musician. Same thing for Dave Koz. But watching and listening to them perform at the Java Festival the quality of the sound is amazingly clear and of the highest quality.
Thanks guys for lighting up the world with your music and talent.
My dad was not a good dad, and we left him as soon as we could. But boy did he know good music. That I'm listening to this great concert by Earl Klugh thirty years after my father playing his CD at home shows he had one very very great legacy. Thank you dad for introducing me to so many great artists.

Earl Kugh is one of the few music pros whose virtuoso music I can listen to time and again, without getting bored. The cohesion of his group is no less than phenomenal, and each musician is a master. Thank you for being here for music lovers.

Earl Klugh is one of my mentors whom i met in detroit in 1974' at Baker's Keyboard Lounge,we became friends and stayed in touch for a couple years and Nelson Rangell and i were on a flight together from a music convention in nice,france to chicago which was his stop,i was on to dayton,ohio from there,loved meeting and talking with them both,Emmett North Jr.
The wife and I hung out with Earl after a "One World Theatre" performance in Austin. After over 20 years of travel in the military listening to him from Album to MP3, I never could have imagined this guy was such a very nice person. I told him about one of my most memorable experiences. It was traveling across the English Channel by ferry listening to "Heart String". We consider him a friend. He signed my keep sake with a heart felt, "Thanks for taking me with you." Wow!

Another magical performance by the one and only Earl Klugh. Still have fond memories of the free concert he gave at the Warner Theater in Washington, DC around 2007. In an interview he noted how the acoustic/electric guitar made his playing extended concerts so much easier. Mainly due to the fact that he no longer needed to work as hard to make his music heard.

I remember walking into A&A Records in Calgary one sunny afternoon some 20 years ago and hearing Earl Klugh for the first time. That is all it took to hook me on Smooth Jazz and his iconic sounds. Thank you so very much Mr. Klugh.

a maestro smooth nylon string mentor. he mentors the strings to the melody and rhythm of his soulful jazzy virtuoso. as for mortals like us it just streams into our ears melting the eardrums like sweet drops of hot chocolate to one's tongue. hats off to earl klugh.

"Midnight in San Juan" is an addictive, easy listening instrumental that I just recently found by accident on YT. While I have known of Earl Klugh for years this tune is like a magnet. So I'll try not to overplay it to ensure it's always fresh to my ears!
The first time I heard Earl Klugh was year 1979. I was in love with... ready for your love...Wow!!!! Now I'm 59 still listening it with close eyes and it seems am on my younger years....
The drummer and basses are awesome. I Love how the drums and bass backs up the team so well. The push up bras for the band. Haha
Earl composes and plays some of the most beautiful melodies ever! The great Al Turner is amazing on bass and the band is outstanding!!!
He's been going for years, I remember buying his albums on LP in the early eighties, Great stuff! Great to hear and see Wishful thinking, an absolute classic track.
Earl was playing smooth jazz before it became a category. Don't fault one of the creators of the genre. He's always been true to his artform. A jazzy, soulful dude who can play it all, including classical, Spanish guitarisms and Chet Atkins-kinda bluegrass too. FROM DETROIT, ANOTHER MOTOWN MAGICIAN.

The first song I heard from Earl Klugh is the one that starts at 16:33 and I heard it because it was the background song of a TV commercial in the 80's (DOC). Since then I have not stopped following him for his great talent and great performances.

This is a wonderful production.
The band is absolutely amazing and their cohesion is impressive, resulting in beautiful uplifting music.
Obviously, all five musicians are masters of their instrument(s) and enjoy performing for the audience.
Earl Klugh is very smooth on the acoustic guitar and makes it seem so easy.
Nelson Rangell has good range and very comfortable on saxophone, flute, and whistling.
David Lee on keyboards is innovative, funky and funny.
The bassist provides reliable synchronous accompaniment.
And drummer Ron Otis lays down a solid beat and foundation to all the tunes.
Finally, kudos to the Sound Engineer and Video Crew for putting it all together.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable concert experience. One could not ask for more.

This man inspired my jazz interest as my background being classical music.I first heard of EK in the PH during martial law years where US music was promoted instead of local. My eldest brother bought vinyl records thinking it was like Santana music 🤔. Music was heavily regulated in radios but we both fell in love with EK. I later bought all his CDs here in US & had the pleasure of watching him real close in the Wiltern here in LA. Most big artists play at Universal theater with viewers packed like sardines. EK Performance (2 hour nonstop on time) was flawless as this very humble, "QUIET" man that even BLM folks are still clueless about is one of the best of their tribe. I only have to thank martial law for this wonderful exposure of EK but highly recommend anybody to see a great way talent like EARL KLUGH 👏 Bravo from a Filipina martial law baby 🇵🇭.
