The other Kpop groups love these guys... V's faces/visuals, Jimin's highs/dancing - he is considered the top Idol to be like, Jin's handsomeness and this guy didn't even sing when he became a trainee, RM's leadership/poetic writing, passion, visuals, Suga's rapping and producing skills, J-hopes dancing... did I say hip hop dancing, singing, rapping, ( he was not a rapper when he signed up as a trainee) dance leader, JK- the guy that can do everything better/lead singer, athlete, artist, dancing, the golden child! BTS is the waymaker for Korean music. There is no comparison between BTS/KPOP groups and the western bands.

I have been blessed to see them live many times and they are AMAZING and even better live! See them live when you can. No one is like them. No one has ever been like them. Dancers, singers, rappers, composers, producers... they are an enigma because they are exceptional at all of it!

I really like how you said "No one is like them. No one has ever been like them", so true. I don't know why they have to always been compared to previous bands even though no one has ever been like them. Their equivalent comparison is not found either in the past or the present.
And Namjoon wrote some of it as well as others.(Don't know if any other BTS members wrote some of it too, buy I know several people had to do with the writing of it.)

No one does lyrics like BTS. No one does anything like BTS.
I was a teen in the 90's. The big boy bands were backstreet and nsync, 98 degrees existed.
But BTS is not even in the same catagory for me. Did you read the lyrics to this song? Never have I seen artists so invested in the mental health and personal success of their fans. They based the song on a psych book called "The Magic Shop" which details a form of therapy in which participant trade their trauma memories with positive memories. In no boy band that ever existed did they try and mentally support, encourage, and strengthen their fans. BTS cannot be categorized. They are a safe haven for many.

This song seriously holds Army’s heart. It’s pure comfort in song form all they ask of us in this song is to treat ourselves with the same love we show them “show them” that we are loving ourselves with the same care. What more beautiful sentiment in such a beautiful song can there be? They have been big for years but many people are only recently clueing in. One thing I think on is when Shawn Stockman of Boys2Men heard of them back in 2019 from his son so on a whim got on a plane to see the big Rose Bowl BTS show (that sold out 2 nights at the Rose Bowl in under 30 mins) using some industry contacts to get floor seats by the stage. He said it was hands down the best live show he’s seen the music and energy crowd etc blew him away and he didn’t know the lyrical depth at that point. He is Army now proudly and even did a cover of Serendipity.
Nobody comes close to being this entertaining AND with that positive giving self loving embracing growth message in their lyrics. Such a positive feeling and their live concerts are just gorgeous.💜

You are in for such such amazing music and talent. They are nothing like you'd expect in every aspect and from every angle. I would recommend starting with BTS Festa Room Live 2021 to see their versatility and live vocal skills, and RUN BTS Dance Practice, On Kinetic Manifesto, as well as Black Swan to see their amazing dancing skills!
I would also recommend watching an intro to them...there's one by Taylor called A guide to BTS members: Bangtan 7 that's very thorough and updated for this year. You'll quickly see that they are true artists, genius lyricists, philanthropists, advocates, and not merely just some boy band. :)
This song only shows a tiny glimpse of what they represent. Oh! And I cannot recommend enough their song called Singularity from one of their members "V". It's my personal fav, incredibly brilliant, and very neo seoul and r&b.
This is a song directly to ARMY.....another good song to ARMY is BTS "2! 3! Hoping for more good days live(eng subs")...hobi on the thumbnail
at one of their last appearances showcasing Proof songs in Korea, all JK had to do was sing "So Show Me" and the fans responded... they didn't sing the song just the line... it was so pure. BTS class act, real, doesn't matter what genre they sing.
Don't you think it's a shame the Grammys didn't reward them

@@NAIATHEDRAGON BTS were nominated twice, 1st time they were used for views , kept saying BTS were up next so that ARMY would keep watching when in actual fact they were shown 2nd to last and only given a very short time to perform. BTS recreated the whole Grammy set in Korea, they went the extra mile. The category they were nominated in was in the pre show. They didn't win but had the last laugh. They did a live stream for army and had 13.5 million views compared to 8.5 million the Grammys had the entire show. 2nd time they sat our boys at the front row and actual filmed their reaction as they watched someone else take the Grammy that they so obviously should have won. I don't know of any other artist who did more for their fans during the pandemic, they wrote songs to comfort army they did online concerts they did individual vlives with army and so much more. BTS are not just a boy band they are artists that have healed millions of people around the world 💜

You say they are doing everything in comparing them to other boybands. What you did not include is writing and production. My question is if I add those things does BTS have the right to be called a group as opposed to being pigeonholed as boyband which comes with a package of assumptions? Why admire by saying they elevated the boyband craft as opposed to saying they can be compared to all manners of groups which have succeeded across the recorded music history?
I am not accusing you as I have listened to many of your reactions and am well aware of your open-mindedness. However, using the boyband yardstick is almost cliche. Indeed, it is a large part of why the Grammys have basically disregarded BTS. I think BTS has earned the right to be measured against other great groups which have established a mark in popular music. Retrenching to the term boyband is a filter established to only admit certain wavelengths of light. Boyband is a foundationally intentional concept. BTS was established as a hip hop group. Take a look at their debut photo shoot and you will see the images therein bear no resemblance to anything you have ever seen from any boyband.
Briefly what I am saying as I truly respect you is it is time to move on from a stereotyped image people hear in Western media to an opinion I believe your shrewd mind is entirely capable of. Make a Venn diagram and you will see a part of BTS can be seen to overlap the boyband criteria. A large part lies outside that appelation.
This is my favorite song. Once I read the lyrics I cried lol it’s my go to comfort song now

I've never seen BTS or even kpop groups as boybands.... I don't think that comparison is fair to kpop let alone BTS
kpop and BTS remind me of MOTOWN. Back when MOTOWN was at the top it was all mostly groups that sang and danced live. Groups like The Jackson 5 did the same thing and NEW EDITION included rapping while dancing and singing.
No offense to 90s boybands(I love them and they have special nostalgic place in my heart) but they don't measure up. Which is why if I'm comparing them to anyone it's the groups from Motown,groups like temptations & the coasters, Frankie lymon and the teenagers, that did this stuff live, did complex choreography and wrote their own songs 🤷🏾♀️
But that's how I see it

Have you seen An Introduction to BTS by Taylor or the one by XCeleste? You should if you haven’t yet. Then you will know that they are truly way more than just a great boy band. No offense to One Direction and the others, but BTS is way above that category. Just stating facts. If they were just another boy band, they will not break the records they are breaking or touch this many people. ARMY won’t be this big. It’s precisely because they are their own category that they are THIS BIG- across all cultures, across all age groups, across genders, across religions, across social classes, across nationalities, and across all musical preferences!
