Boba Fett's Slave 1 ship amazed me ever since I saw it as a kid seeing 'The Empire Strikes Back' for the first time in 1980 and my theory regarding how the name 'Slave 1' came about was due to George Lucas' time spent as a junior editor where there were Master tape units connected to "slave" units that made copies from the master tape or reel deck and those slave units were referred to as "Slave 1", "Slave 2", and so on.
I miss when vehicles like these were less than $100. I might have to wait for a sale, I just hope the Carbon freezing chamber isn’t as much. I really liked how thorough the review was
I don't collect a lot of vehicles because of money and space, but I'm definitely getting this. Arguably my favorite vehicle in Star Wars. Thanks for the review!
The whole scene of Han being encased in carbon fascinated me so much I had to have this toy. Like others here this was my main toy I played back in the 80s, the Falcon was far to big for my hands.
Was sad I missed out on this a few years back (paying college bills) but was happy to finally get this fantastic updated set. Boba Fett is my favorite star wars side baddie, and what a treat to have this definitive slave I with a fantastic display stand.
Its in the wardrobe ready for the little Fellas birthday. Hes picked the small "force awakens-Slave one". So he knows hes getting it . But i saw this later and couldn't resist it. Hes only 10 once ☺. I cant wait to see his face when he opens his present. Hes got the other one to unwrap too for quick maneuveres👍
It looks awesome. But for the price and simply because it would be cool, they could have included some kind of electronics, lights, sound fx. Like ship engines, Boba Fett dialogue "Put Captain Solo in the cargo hold".

Hey, I’m just now seeing this review. Well done. Totally agree w/you about the back of the ship and the Carbonite block storage. The removable bounty cell is a nice extrapolated play feature, but wasn’t really necessary. It’s been in every version of Slave 1 at this scale. By now, I’m assuming that you’ve noticed the round port on the wall inside the ship. That’s meant to hold Boba’s jet pack, so it doesn’t stay on him when seated in the cockpit. The crevice on the floor serves no purpose, but I keep my Carbonite block standing upright there, leaning against the wall.
What an absolute stunner of a vehicle 💥... haven’t ordered this due to the price, but your awesome & detailed review has shown me the error of my ways👍🏻👍🏻
They needed to put that detail on the bottom of the ship, we see it so much in the films. I feel it's still too expensive for what you get, but I say that through gritted teeth because it is so cool. The carbon block is really nice. Another spot on review mate!
Cheers Dan, I think the only issue is the price. I think if it was 100 dollars/pounds people would be more accepting. Pretty sure Amazon have it for pre order for £98

I picked up this set from Best Buy with a 25% off coupon and $5 off coupon stacked on top of that. Total shipped was $107. Not too shabby. Looking forward to getting it and hoping that the Slave 1 doesn't get blown up in the last episode of The Mandalorian!
This is awesome 👏 I have to get one! but I will have to find the room to display this as I live in a very small flat in the uk , I have a lot of Star Wars hot toys taking up most of the room. I just bought the huge black series tie fighter last week and I had to move stuff around to display that 😱🤣👍🏻
It’s alright, it’s not as screen accurate as I would I have hoped for with this price. It’s perfect for a kid to play with though but with that price, only adults will.
I have this a good while and im still in awe of it. The detail is incredible and its such a great update of the original that i had back in the day. Its a beauty. Slave 1 was up there as one of my favorite ships.
You can put the carbonite block in the rear cargo hold it fits perfectly. You just can't use the coffin type thing when you put the carbonite block back there.
Awesome job Bossk! My BigBad order came in today with this guy in the box . I am excited to break into my own. The inclusion of the flight stand and added detailing to the engine and underside of the ship is truly an amazingly cool bit of sculpting and paint. Another great review friend!
Ive reacently purchased this i have to say its awsome but i also have to say for the price and the size of it i thought and would have been nice to include electronic sounds specialy weapons like guns and sizmic charges ?
I had two Star Wars ships in the 80's, the Millennium Falcon and Slave One. Both ships were bought at garage sales since star wars toys were nearly nonexistent in 86'-87'. Infact none of my Star wars toys were bought new at retail; they were all second hand. Surviving the Star Wars drought as a kid was horrible. All I could think about was episodes 1,2,3,7,8,9. It was a long and sadly mostly anticlimactic wait.

This (reissue of a) reissue isn't very large. I'm sure it's smaller than you may think; especially when you display it vertically. It'll only take up the shelf space of two or three 6/7" action figures while displayed on the stand.

I had the first versión from Kenner in the 80's....It was all grey and a little bit small scaled,but drives me crazy!Later I bought the Shadows of The Empire 1996 version,basically the same toy but better painted...And I love it too.But...This new version is hot as Hell! The only thing I don't like is that this is the cockpit design depicted in Episode 2 and The Mandalorian,but no Empire Strikes Back version.And they would included a Boba Fett figure,for the price it costs.
This Slave 1 is so nice and I really enjoyed this video and the detailed walkthrough. My resolve has been crushed and I have to get this at some point.
I have to say I have never been a big fan of Boba from his OT days but that Mandolorian show has changed my mind about him and made him more interesting. I know my opinion is not a popular one but oh well. I think I like him now.
I was hoping to find 1 on sale this Xmas. But I went ahead & pre-ordered. These sell out fast & it’ll be here April 2021. Just before the crest. But for $149 it should have included boba.

This is really nice! Just got my first black series vehicle (snowspeeder $120, maybe high, but worth it to me) and was extremely impressed to the point that it turned me on to other videos like this one. This Slave 1 is great in so many ways, but I wish it carried more of the details and layout of the real Slave 1. I know there are other factors and it would have to be bigger, just wish it was more detailed like the black series toys are in vintage collection. As it is, can’t justify paying this price ($150). Great video!

I was like, what? Put them in a super old timey woman's hat? Then immediately remembered UK ppl call a car hood a bonnet. Hard to tell which I'd be since Fett has an American voice, but an Englishman in the costume lol.
Literally the one thing we really see done with the ship onscreen is loading Solo in the BACK and they can’t do it? Kind of unforgivable IMO, and a strange choice.

Just put mine together now and your video helped me put the stickers on correctly. It was hard to see what to do with the instructions only being in black and white. This vehicle is amazing! Thanks!!!
Nice I picked up another one on sake for $100. If it drops more I’ll buy another if it goes to $75 or soo. But with the ship in the Mandalorian now and with the razor crest destroyed I think there will be a run on these and they will be all gone by Xmas. If hasbro goes to the well avian maybe it will go cheap next spring but who knows. Great video.

Just as an aside, did you know Boba's jetpack can be plugged into a port that is on the rear inside wall? It does make fitting him in the cockpit way easier.
Great review - however you just can’t beat the original Slave 1.... the magic can’t be beaten and personally - everything worked better in the 1980’s👍🏻
I love the updated paint apps on Slave One, excellent job Hasbro. I love the included stand, nice touch. Thumbs down for not including a Boba Fett figure at the current pricing.
@@BossksBounty Mine was a hand me down from one of my older brothers. They started collecting the toys before I did since I was born in 1977. I mainly ended up with their action figures except for the Return Of The Jedi figures I had were ones my parents gave me for Christmas or my grandparents gave me.
My 9 year old will be ten in september. Got this, tie fighter xwing and a few figures plus kenner fully aticulated boba fett luke skywalker and shadow troopers . Plus skif and the gang with that. Im thinking of splitting it all for birthday and christmas. I got a bit carried away. He'll only be 10 once but i dont know🙄
I just found out they made a Jango version of this back in the day and I’m debating getting it. Imagine what it would be like if you had the money to afford two boba slave ones and 1 Jango slave one and then swap parts from one of these and the Jango one to make it super detailed
I found this on sale but I still paid $120. & disappointed you didn’t get fett or an exclusive figure. Like a cloud city guard. Walmart in the U.S. can’t give these pre’s away

It was named by a member of the ILM team, George ran a kind of in house compotion to invent a name for Fetts ship.

I always thought of the ship as being hideous, but after awhile, seeing it on Star Wars Clone Wars, it can grow on you. I ordered it.

Nameless Jedi the carbon block does fit nicely when you take the chamber out. Just not best to store it there when in flight mode

I love the updated paint apps on Slave One, excellent job Hasbro. I love the included stand, nice touch. Thumbs down for not including a Boba Fett figure at the current pricing.
My only issue with this toy is that the size is off in regards to the scale.

That's cool that it shoots missiles! We used to have the Kenner Slave 1 in our home when I was a kid.
I never had the Kenner one as a kid, was always jealous of my neighbour- I will get one though as you can pick them up for a reasonable price
@@BossksBounty Mine was a hand me down from one of my older brothers. They started collecting the toys before I did since I was born in 1977. I mainly ended up with their action figures except for the Return Of The Jedi figures I had were ones my parents gave me for Christmas or my grandparents gave me.
Maybe it's just me, but I think some of these new vehicles may be just a bit too weathered. Somewhere between the two styles would be perfect IMHO.

My 9 year old will be ten in september. Got this, tie fighter xwing and a few figures plus kenner fully aticulated boba fett luke skywalker and shadow troopers . Plus skif and the gang with that. Im thinking of splitting it all for birthday and christmas. I got a bit carried away. He'll only be 10 once but i dont know🙄

I just found out they made a Jango version of this back in the day and I’m debating getting it. Imagine what it would be like if you had the money to afford two boba slave ones and 1 Jango slave one and then swap parts from one of these and the Jango one to make it super detailed

Family and I have tried, but may be sold. Especially to another country for their own museum about STAR WARS.
