Interesting... Toya. I remember seeing her CD in stores and I never bothered to pick it up. I can see why. The CD had no magic or programming behind it. I believe Ms. Drew Dixon. Several individuals within the music industry done came forth w/ they stories about somebody tryna sleep w/ them. This is a real thing. I've learned that it's not a guaranteed method of securing a career because most artists don't last long and there are always younger and fresher artists coming behind them. Of course Mr. L.A. Reid didn't do anything wrong, folks lied on him because they're failures and women are just scorned. Yeah...riiiiight... He did that just like Mr. Russell Simmons, etcetera. Thank you for this! St. Louis native, here, and let me tell you, we all were rooting for Toya, back in the day. She had billboards all over the city and on both sides of the water (STL and ESTL). Her album was dope, but hard to find. I remember asking one of my upper classmates to hold a CD for me, when he worked at Walmart. I was so disappointed that the album didn't get the push that it deserved, and waited patiently for its follow up. The remix to I Do! with Murphy Lee was a banger! Other possible singles could have been Moving On, What Else Could I Do?, I Messed Up, Book of Love and/or possibly Fiasco ft. T.I. She had a strong voice and her own swag (especially for her being so young). Lol. She even had a mini dictionary to break down her Midwest lingo in her CD booklet (for all of the non-St Louisans). To this day, I still bump her CD, especially after washing and waxing the car. Check out I Do Pt. 2.
