- Lionel's New York Central Scale Hudson of 1937 set the stage for many new and better versions of this iconic steam locomotive. OGR Collector’s Gallery writer Ed Boyle did the research and wrote the script for this video.

I got my lionchief Hudson 2 years ago. I love that engine!
Might not have the glitz of a 700E, but I'm a happy camper with my 2065 baby hudson.
Great exposition Rich.
Outstanding video.
Thanks!
Wow Mr Melvin. I was thinking about the Lionel Hudson tonight. I log into TH-cam, this came up.
Well thanks! But “Mr. Melvin” was my father. 😂

Rich that is wonderful. By the way we met a long time ago in Ohio when I was in elementary school and got to see one of the layouts in the OGR magazine. If you know the name of a man from Hopkinsville, Kentucky named Bill Farrell then you know I’m talking about. I’m his grandson and he’s pretty well and I have both the Lionel 1990 Scale Hudson and the 2011 Lionel Vision Line Scale Hudson. Heck I even got all the 700 series scale freight cars to go with 5340 except for one that I’ll have to look for. You can’t imagine how many Lionel Hudsons I have in my collection early modern era to today models. Recently I got my hands on a Lionel Wabash Hudson being my first Wabash steam locomotive on my roster of engines.
Hope Lionel has plans to release a scale P-1 Wabash Hudson in the future.
Excellent video. I have always loved the Hudson since I first saw it in the 1966 catalog. I agree with your last statement. If you want an investment, buy mutual fund shares, not toy trains.
