They should have several emergency buttons throught that can be pushed by anyone to stop bridge from opening. Stiff fines for false alarms.

or people can stop being lazy and actually come out and check for pedestrians and vehicles before putting the bridge up....

There's a literal person in charge of watching the cameras, looking at the mirrors before pushing the button. He shouldn't have pressed it with her on the bridge and if he missed her at first, she was SCREAMING and holding on for her life and he just kept watching peppa pig or wtf ever and ignored her. I hope that tender goes to prison.

3 minutes with bells and lights before the bridge opens so I don't understand how you can't see the warning signs. There's loud bells if you're hearing impaired, lights if you are visual. What more can the DOT put in place for people who just ignore or not paying attention?

There should have been a warning system to alert pedestrians that the bridge was about to be opened. That is just common sense. There should also be some kind of barrier that is put in place to prevent anyone e from going on to the bridge just like at railroad crossings.

There is a good warning system in place and no one really knows why she was on the bridge at that point. If the bridge tender had of been a responsible tender he or she would have seen the woman and stopped the bridge from raising up.

@@allenelswick6961 Well apparently the woman did not heed the warning system.

Bridge tender is now a minimum wage job. Even the State farms out it’s responsibilities just like big corporations. Bridge tending used to be a well paying respectable position. Another way corporate mentality is ruining America, right?

Exactly all lips are zipped up for these people don't want to reveal anything that they'll be liable later for. Whatever happened someone is liable.. this is a 79-year-old woman something here is missing in the story. Our prayers go out into the families and that one who wanted to rescue but could not be there to save the poor lady. I hope he gets some PTSD help cuz it's horrible thing to live with
