For decades Coca Cola and Prince Polo was the absolute reigning soda+snack combo in Iceland. Prince Polo is a Polish brand and way back in 1950s Iceland and Poland made a trade deal which among other things introduced this chocolate to Iceland. Icelanders took this communist bloc candy and paired it with Coke - the very symbol of American capitalism - and the very local cultural phenomenon of 'Kók & Prins Póló' was born. During the cold war, everybody and their grandmothers consumed this combo like there was no tomorrow. So next time you visit, skip the coffee and try it with coca cola 🙂
