Well, I'm sorry to say but it's not true that people who are persecuted for being homosexual are protected under Geneva Convention. This protection is not written in any article of the Convention and so it will always depend on the chance the asylum-seeker will have of presenting a case before a court and on how the court will interpret article 1 of the Convention. The fact is that many asylum-seekers are not able to reach any court and are sent back. Therefore, in my view this needs to be reformed. As to the climate refugee, if we look at what happened to Haitians recently as they were affected by the latest earthquake, we will see that they had to flee abroad and not only to the US. So, climate refugees are no longer only internally displaced people, they need to flee their countries as they become unstable and unbearable. As the climate crises becomes more serious, there is need to reform the Convention now so that States will be prepared to receive in an organized way all the refugees fluxes that will come. A burden sharing system needs to be created on global level as soon as possible. Writing documents which are not binding like Global Compact tend to be a display of hypocrisy, as it looks good, but when emergencies come, States pull back and solidarity disappears in front of fear. If the international community organizes the system well, it will be possible to cope. And, yes, our lives will be affected, but they are already as we have started to face the results of modernity with Covid 19 and climate change.
It didn't. Somehow these people acknowledge climate change, but not to an extent that we cannot save everybody. Just keep pretending that we can take everybody in, while climate change is running wild. Once the supermarkets are empty through bad harvests, these naive snowflakes won't be heard off no more.
The out date when it was for second world war.. European countries will want change to protect their own civilians. people talking can understand why it doesn’t change out of date
God sent me to you. You are an angel to me. My condition is very bad. I asked two or three people for help. They blocked me.Is this humanity? No matter, God is with me. No one helps the poor man.I wish you were in my place. Just get me out of this mess once. I want to live too.I have nothing right now.I'm sleeping in the park. There are a lot of mosquitoes. I fall at your feet. Help me
Thanks for organizing such an excellent debate, the International Ethics Centre!! It's very informative.

37:48 “People are sent to slave labor.....and there is nothing wrong with that”
Well, he lost me completely with that. Absolutely monstrous

He didn’t mention China.....I wonder why?
Well, this starts out bad. Those who should be debating against the treaty are actually debating for it. Let's hope the second half gets better.
