Seasoning the Seasons (NHK World)
Aizu is roughly 300 kilometers north of Tokyo. It is a region west of Fukushima Prefecture. Around 150 years ago, Aizu was defeated in a civil war, beginning a road of hardship. The skills to survive a tough environment and to care for others thrive in Aizu. From parents to children, from predecessors to successors, the pride of Aizu is passed down. Fondness for lords long-gone still remains in people's hearts. This is a story of Aizu, where the spirit of samurai from ages ago still lives on.

The Byakkotai reminded me of the “The Niños Héroes” (Boy Heroes, or Heroic Cadets) were six Mexican military cadets who were killed in the defence of Mexico City during the Battle of Chapultepec, one of the last major battles of the Mexican-American War, on 13 September 1847. The date of the battle is now celebrated in Mexico as a civic holiday to honor the cadets' sacrifice. As a Mexican-American with Japanese roots I just thought this similarity was something to point out.
I came here after I finish watching Yae no Sakura.

When were the Aizu clan pardon by the Japanese emperor/Japanese government for siding with the Shogunate force during the Boshin War.
I admire the values imparted here, the sense of community, a common history and honoring the ancestors and the people who gave their lives.
Today's world is so materialistic. How beautiful it must be to live in the Aizu society that keeps the legacies, traditions and memories alive

You will find that this still exists in large parts of Europe that are more rural. But tradition is seen as something bad by Western establishments.

:)) Multiculturalism (Different cultures living peacefully alongside each other) just works. There is no culture war between these groups. Tensions rear up, but usually stoked by people with little self identity clinging on to antiquated group think mentality (Us vs them). Edward Kiel, get out of your internet story bubble and go travel. I've lived in 9 countries and been to 19 of them + 40 US states. And that sex trafficking ring in Britain, shows us how the Pakistani community defended it. Anyway, grow up and get out into the world. Don't view it through the internet.

I lived also in the mostly North African areas of the Netherlands and France that are mostly Muslim and probably classified by you as a 'no go' area. I am sure everytime you see non-white people, your brain goes 'Oh noes!'. Refute it? I've lived it. I've seen people get along in 9 countries and hundreds of areas of intercultural life. Burkas? Really? Because in 40 years I've seen 3 people dressed in anything like a burka. We can also talk about the white European criminal activities in the US and Europe, but I guess those don't exist to you? It's only if someone is of a different race or colour does it matter. Go crawl under your internet rock.
Actually, it's not. How statistics are viewed is the issue. Normalised for income level, family structure and education, level of criminality is the same for native born and immigrant communities in the West. And during new generations that are born in the host countries, education, income level and such go up. It was the same with Irish immigrants in the US, etc. There were organised crime issues with all new waves of immigrants in the US. Including Jewish, Irish and Italian. So your viewpoint is skewed. Correlation is not causality. People are not criminal merely by being born Algerian or an Algerian immigrating to Europe or their children. They start usually at the very bottom of the socio-economic base and like everyone in this level (Lack of education, economic problems, maybe family issues and such), there will be a percentage that is going to commit crime. You really should take a step back and ask the question of the origins and surrounding issues of these crime level and not just assert 'Immigrant, BAADD!!'. Try to understand the issues, not just react to triggering data. I am not white, I am an immigrant (American who moved to Europe and lived here for 13+ years) and I come from a ghetto and lived in ghettos in Europe also.
I might be wrong, but I think everyone is getting caught in the trap of circular arguments. The issue in the west (and everywhere really) is the rise of 'non secular' culture in a modern secular age (separation of church and state ..etc). A concept in western countries that brought about lasting peace (compared to the continual in-wars that occur in non-secular times). ALL the bad things your talking about here flow from elements (in any/all culture) that maintain non-secular old world views. Non-seculars segregate themselves from the larger community as a whole (using religion, culture, dress and language to help this). Currently there is one religion specifically (mentioned) that is having major issues with it's non-secular side ..and sadly it won't admit the problem (which makes it worse).
I support all secular culture, religion and people (and all others who are happy to abide by those rules). My enemies are those who are not in these groups (non-secular people). Those who want to push their non-secular (old world) views and rules onto a secular (modern) society. As the only reason to do that is to cause hate/hurt/separation/war and death. It annoys me that the media don't talk/inform people more about this issue (given it's historic significance)
As for me, I stick with the philosophy that most people around the world are just trying to live good lives, get on with people and try to have a happy content life (that is my experience anyway). It's a minority of (violent) people who wish to force the rest of us to fear and support their hate filled dogmas. And of all those violent people none are worse then the 'old world' (and religious) kind. Cause well, you know ...the word of god is on their side so they must be right! *sigh*
