Housing Minister Nate Erskine Smith speaks after becoming a Minister for the first time

Toronto Beaches-East York MP Nate Erskine Smith, who has served as a backbench MP since 2015, speaks after he was promoted to cabinet for the first time to serve as Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities to replace Sean Fraser, who has left cabinet and will not run for re-election. Erskine Smith has been known to be a maverick, not always supporting the moves of the Liberal government over the years and had announced he would not run for re-election. However, it is widely speculate that he will now run for re-election for MP again in Beaches-East York in an attempt to save the seat for the Liberal Party.
