My name is Eric and I travel with my cats, “Tara” & “Opie” in a 24ft 2001 Ford Tioga RV named “Freeda” and tow either a 2014 Smart Car named “Tater Tot” or my 2012 Harley Softail Slim named “Black Betty” in a 6x10 trailer. We travel about 35 miles a day chasing 70 degrees year-round since 2010.

Jeez, guys. Come on. You need at least one proof of address in most states, to even update the address on your license, let alone register a vehicle. If you don't know this, you've never been to a DMV, owned a car, driven a car, or had a driver license in the United States. Dude doesn't even have any kind of utilities at the new property yet. I swear. Some people's children.
About the fake cop; why is it so hard for the park to get rid of the guy? I mean, if he's creating a problem, why don't they just tell him to leave? It's private property after all. My point is that if they were really trying hard to get rid of the guy, he would be gone.
I was more concerned that a local government office used yahoo instead of something more secure.
When you- can register your vehicles in Show Low, Az. Unlike Texas that has a mirage of liberty, Showlow, Az there is No emissions test and No vehicle inspection for vehicle registration renewal. You can renew your vehicle registration ONLINE at your convenience with no requirement to return to Az in order to accomplish that. Combine that with a "Life Time" drivers license, you won't need to return to the DMV for most of the rest of your adult life!

First with Whataburger, you get fries, as a native Texan, their fries are horrible, get rings and the patty melt.
Sorry to hear but not surprised your visit to Polk County, TX was so stressful, they can be very special down there.....Here's a little tidbit of info for registering Black Betty.....if by chance she is already registered in the State of Texas, you can have someone else register her for you without an inspection. That said, the only way that is possible is if that person has a valid Power of Attorney to do business for you. I have registered may vehicles for my son while he was working out of state with a Power of Attorney. Once you return to TX you have (I think) 24 hours to get the vehicle inspected and provide proof to the Tax office. This is how we are able to do this in Angelina County (45 mins North of Polk County), hopefully Polk County is the same. When the time comes, give them a call to see what their procedures are. By the way Eric... The bigger counties in Texas do emissions check too. You're just lucky enough that Polk County doesn't.
Vibration is the worst thing for a filament style bulb AKA incandescent bulbs. So if the road to the test facility was bumpy that might have been the cause of the bulb failing, and yes from experience I have found that roads to inspection locations are purposely made bumpy for this reason. Upgrading to LED bulbs will solve this issue although you will have to also upgrade the flasher unit if equipped to an LED compatible one. Most modern vehicles already have upgraded flashers
Why don't they legally remove that guy from the park? Always hate vehicle inspection time. Be glad you don't live in the DFW area where you have to pass emissions as well as inspection and it's a lot more than 7 bucks unless the vehicle is over 25yrs old. Registration can be hit or miss as you well know.

Glad that pretend-a-cop isn't how The Escapees campground rolls - I'm in Escapees but have never been to Livingston and it had me rethinking for a second if I would visit the campground. When I registered my van for the first time in 2021 - in the DFW area, I had to go get it weighed at a CAT scale and bring the original paper to the tax office.....

Buc-Ee’s in Daytona Florida no longer allow RV’s to park in their parking lot … couldn’t even find a place where they would allow RVs to park to shop. They really disappointed us this past year with the multitude of NO RV signs. Big thumbs down on Daytona Buc-Ee’s.

Please be careful how you get rid of your old license plates.
If you throw them in the garbage, someone could pick them up and use them, but they are still under your name.
In my province, it used to be that when you were done with a set of plates, you just returned them to the license bureau and they removed your name from them and then disposed of them for you. Now those plates are yours for life and will be forever connected to your name, “So don’t lose them!” (as was sternly told to me by the lady at the bureau). 🤦♀️
I cut my old plates in many pieces using metal shears or metal cutting snips.

He should be arrested for trespassing as well. If he has been told to leave in the past, any new appearance on the property is trespass and giving him a written notice is even better.
Eric, I hope you realize that you were in harms way when you encountered the "impersonator," who had the balls to question you while walking. If he went so far as to present an old police badge, he was probably carrying a gun too, so it's a good thing you didn't brush him off and hurt his ego. That park has the right to kick out anyone they want to and because they are not doing it to him, they could be held liable for any wrong he does because they have been made aware of his behavior numerous times. I’ve only been to one Bucky’s, a new one on I-75 in Richmond KY. It’s huge and busy, but the bathrooms are squeaky clean and checkout lines are short and move quickly. The location Eric visited is probably an early example of the Bucky’s success story. New locations are much larger now.
I’ve been to that Bucky’s, wedding in the area. Great fun, and breakfast treats for the next morning.

I live in Texas and it does depend on the county you live in. I need to have emissions test in my county if under 25 years. I do not have to show my weight capacity to register. Perhaps that was for the first time? Glad to hear your spending time with your mom and sister for the holidays. Stay safe.
Yes first time, I had to have mine weighed at CAT scale. I bought my Class B new in AZ and when I went to register in Texas the dealership must have included that information in the paperwork I handed the clerk. They didn’t ask for anything else from me.
I've been to whataburger 3 times at 3 different locations and had poor service and wrong product all 3 times. Nevermore.

I've really stopped going to Bucees all together. Ever since the owners kids took over and expanded to other states I have noticed popularity has skyrocketed and quality has suffered. One major reason I stopped going was the abrupt disappearance of Pepsi products. They are overcrowded all the time now too
Dad gave his son the first Bucees over 25 years ago. I used to live within a half of a mile from it. And Buceees fuel is usually the highest or second highest around. They do have the best ice & bathrooms, tho.
If you are registered in FL, no inspections required. None. Nada. Motorcycle, car, truck or RV or TT. Nothing!
Register to Vote in Arizona. No ID or proof of identy required. That'll make you a resident fast. Unless you want to remain a Texas primary resident since your family moved there.

I had a third brake light out at my inspection in Texas and they changed it out during the inspection, there isn’t a 24 hour waiting period.

There should be a gas pump charge per minute of non use after the tank fills to stop those gas pump hogs! I can't believe how inconsiderate society is becoming! I believe electric charging stations have this for vehicles that are fully charged and not disconnected, at least in Europe!

Have you been to Marble Falls yet and through the Hill country? I live in a RV park, in the Hill Country close to Lago Vista. In Marble Falls is a restaurant called the BLUE BONNET CAFE. They are famous and have great pie. There's a Walmart and other stores on the strip. Then a ride through the Hills through Lago Vista. Our RV park is very nice and has free hot showers and laundry. We're permanent renters. We also have 2 cats. Very secure place. Idull Glen RV park. It's a Jones Town address.

As a retired LEO I have a feeling the gent you, and others, had/have had, problems with may be suffering from either or both PTSD and Alsheimer's. I know of several honorably retired LEOs that are living on the same planet he is. Combine the two problems and it gets sad quick. I don't understand the issue with having to go back the next day for another inspection because of a bad light bulb. The place I go to in North Carolina would simply ask me if I wanted them to fix/change the bulb, and how much they'd charge. Same thing when my wipers did not pass a couple years ago. They simply showed me the bad wiper blade, and offered to fix/change them right there.
Damn thats crazy Any garage I ever gone to get a car or truck inspected if it was just a bulb something that simple they will just charge you for the bulb put it in and call it a Day.

You’re in Luling Tx. This is one of the original Buc-ees. That’s why its not what you are used to. There are even smaller ones in Texas as well. Those lessons learned have been turned into the Super large ones you find elsewhere.
Why are there different month/year dates on the vehicle registration decals
That's a Texas thing. I think you are referring to some states that issue the same month of expiration for all your vehicles based on your birth month? In Texas, your month of expiration is always the month prior to the one you initially registered your vehicle. Weather you pay on Nov 1st or November 30th, you're expiration date will be October of next year. And you can't change it.

If you walk at night, anywhere. Have a very strong flashlight pointed at the ground so people know for sure you are not attempting to sneak around. Plus if you come across something you have a flashlight to keep your advantage if needed. Doesn’t hurt to wear light clothing or a reflective vest at night in places where people could be “nervous.” Then if an idiot power tripper Karen or Chad tries to game you like the x cop did on Eric, you can point out the obvious to them with Glee.😂
Also: Keep in mind, it’s always better to have an X cop in your hood than not; even an over zealous little bit kookie one. I would forgive the annoyance because they are keeping the hood safer in tricky times. DOUBLE EDGED SWORD
I used to live in a very small town in Kansas, 400 residents. Once a couple of college kids from Texas came to town selling oranges. I don’t remember how many town people called the Sheriffs thinking the kid were really selling drugs. In minutes three deputies and a highway patrolman showed up. I never worried about my kids running around town on their own because I knew the entire town were watching them. 😂
those kids probably left saying and thinking all kinds of negative things about the town hence damaging the towns reputation in the nearby city all thanks to a few paranoid people
