this is why he is my favorite character. i volunteer at a supermarket and make announcements in the store like garret. although my announcements are more professional. i also thought it was interesting because he has a disability and so do i. although i have autism so its a bit different. but it was still interesting. i also feel like i have a similar personality too.
I love the character but it sucks to me that they couldn’t choose a disabled actor and instead an able bodied person plays him :/
@@user-oh4oo7ye6k I mean, I don't really think it matters at all. Garrett being disabled is a nice part of his character at times, it makes for comedic moments and jokes and all that, and I don't really think Garrett would be the same otherwise.
@@Alex-uq1el that’s not what I meant. I love that the character is disabled too, I just wish that they had chosen a disabled actor to play that disabled character rather than an able bodied person to play a disabled person.
@@user-oh4oo7ye6k Ohhhh, okay. Yeah, that makes sense! Garrett's actor still kills it, though. Garrett's my second favorite character in the show, with Glenn at number one.

Honestly the “shop safe” at the end of the health exams announcement is severly underrated delivery on Colton Dunn’s part.
I think the funniest one was when he announced to everyone that ICE was here.

The real retail was strong in this show:

The show did an amazing job of pointing out the failures, greed, selfishness, incompetence, and inhumanity of corporations.
My favorite jab was where they make the point that after striking the corporate manager wants them sign a letter absolving the company of any wrongdoing and for the employees to apologize for walking out,
and treats the idea of workers asking for real benefits, not being charged to use the bathroom and or firing employees and etc to not have to pay benefits because of their age, or refusing maternity leave, or paid maternity leave
was somehow the workers crime.

Seasons 1 to 4 were great and after that it went off the rails.
It deserved to be cancelled.
The last 5 episodes really upped their game though and it came to a satisfying conclusion.
It ended decently though so at least we have that.

This depiction of a retail job is as accurate as “the office” was of an office job. What Hollywood doesn’t get is that employees actually have to work when they’re at work.

@@sergiocalderon6325 not necessarily. Scrubs portrays characters who actually have to work. My problem with Superstore- which I still love- is that it you can tell it’s written by people with decent, skilled jobs, who don’t understand the actual degrading nature of entry level work. In better jobs, people have a little more autonomy. That doesn’t exist for the most of working class.
